I recently discovered (Tuesday) that LEGO is opening three more US store this summer (One in Dallas, TX, one in Frisco, TX and one in Oklahoma City, OK). I live in Oklahoma and have never been to a LEGO store and now there is one opening about an hour away. I was looking at LEGO's webpage for the store and i said the grand opening activities would include "exclusive, limited edition LEGO sets and T-shirts" (http://stores.lego.com/en-us/Oklahoma%20City/LandingPage.aspx).

My question is (mostly to those who have been to the grand opening of a LEGO store) what kind of "exclusive, limited edition LEGO set" can I expect to find, if there is any particular type of set?

I plan on going to the grand opening in Oklahoma City and I would like to know what to expect. Also, feel free to respond in this thread if you are in the area and are thinking about going.

I'm sure this means LEGO exclusives, sets not available at regular stores but available online at S@H. Sets like Medieval Market Village, etc. Those sets are what is generally referred to as "Exclusives."

That's definitely what it means. Anything listed as "exclusive" or "hard to find" on Lego Shop at Home should be in the store. Make sure you get stamps on a Lego loyalty card for the purchases you make. Also, don't forget to check out the Pick a Brick wall and the make your own minifig bin. Occasionally really nice stuff appears. Earlier today I found some yellow Leia slave torsos in the bin at the Lego store at the Mall of America. They had a bunch of Speed Racer heads and torsos, too.

Sometimes there is actually a small truely exclusive set released for grand openings. I've heard of at least three, and while they weren't particularly great sets, they were themed for the city they were for. I'm don't know for sure if there will be something like that, but it's a possibility. Also, I know that in the past there has been a commemorative Duplo block for the grand openings of LEGO stores. I did not attend the grand openings, but i I have a block from the opening of the Woodfield and Chicago Illinois stores. It's likely that there may be other grand-opening swag available, but I couldn't say for sure what. Whatever you do, get their early, as LEGO store openings usually have LONG lines on the first day.

You can see more about the commemorative duplo bricks here.
