Price €.50,-

When the model name is Wind Turbine "Transport", I was very sure the focus is vehicle itself.

Now, it proved my guess is correct.

For me, I am quite disappointed since this wind turbine is very small.

Anyway, I will buy it once it is released.

The logo of wind turbine is "Octan", not "Vestas"....

Luckily I had bought all parts and assemblied a same as 4999 Vestas Wind Turbine.

Thanks for the pics! :sweet:

I also just finished my Vestas Windmill. I'm glad I did, because this thing is a bit to small...

I'll get it for the truck and the van, and I may use some of the turbine pieces for the construction site beside my vestas windmill.

Btw: I found a picture of the rear side of 7747 on BS:

7747_misb_-_1_-_2.jpg

Many thanks to the photo shooter! :sweet: I hope that we'll get a review soon, won't we?!

The only two things I already mentioned which I don't like is that firstly the wind power plant is much smaller than the most of us (me included) hoped and that the wings of the wind power plant nearly contac the ground.

But when you compare the size of the wind power plant to the size of the vehicles on the rear side of 7747 you can see that the wind power plant is supposably not that small than we feared.

We'll get an escort vehicle with that flashlights at the back, the transport truck comes with some wind power plant stickers on its side, the backmost part of the transport truck can be drawn in and out it's now clear that both vehicles will contain car doors.

Isn't that absolutely amazing?! :oh: :oh: :oh:

I already saw this on BS but thanks for posting the pic. :classic:

I must admit my favourite part is the escort truck  I want 2 of those things for construction and other large vehicles :sweet::grin:

Also I think TLC is going back to doors! YAY! Doors here doors there doors EVERYWHERE! :sweet::wub:

I will definatly get this set, hope its not exclusive [didnt have time to read the whole thread]

It seems I got bad info about the transporter  , power functions maybe be sold separately, but the set has space for a motor... maybe instructions like that mars mission set to motorize... Or an online video explaining, or simply modding.

So you think that the little PF motor fits in the wind turbine, Lord Santos? I think you're right.

The only problem would be where to hide the cable in the "tower" of the turbine? And where to put the battery box and the switcher? :sceptic:

I fear that it isn't constructed for that.

Those pieces that makes up the tower leaves a hole in the middle. Don't know if it's big enough for a PF-cable to pass through though.

That's exactly about which I worry, Mirandir.

Well, I think (or at least I hope) that we'll see a review of Kanal-K1 soon which then (hopefully) will give us prove.

The holes are also big enough to fit a technic axle through them, with no problems, same goes for the newer turn-tables. If there's any chance of motorisation here, it's having the motor at the base of the tower, powering the rotor by an axle going through the tower. The turntable will let the top rotate to face the wind.

Refer to the picture, I guess the tower is assemblied by Part no.: 6259 Cylinder Half 2 x 4 x 4.

This set.... should not have motor or cannot assembly together with motor.

Posted

Not as it stands there, no, I agree.

But rebuilding the base to hold a motor will make it possible. The parts the tower is built of has a cutout at the base and top that allows a technic axle to go though, and the turbine itself is large enough to house bevel gears, which would make it possible to motorise the set without ruining its appearance.

Wa Wa Waaaa.... Why so much Whining!?!?!

This is NOT 4999. Am I in the dark here, or is there really that many of us that own the Vestas 4999?

Just about everywhere I look it's priced in the 500 dollar range.

I think this set is Awesome. Great scale for a town, although I have to agree to adding maybe a few more columns.

Now that summer sets are released, I will be stalking TRU for this release!

I own one. Sorry for the bosting, but I am proud of it...

People are dissapointed because LEGO promised a replacement for 4999 that would be widely available. And as you say, this is NOT 4999, not even close.

But yeah, you're right. We should be happy with what we get. :sadnew: And really, it isn't that hard to get the pieces you need for 4999 if you prefer to have one like that. That's what I did.

I will still get this set, beacause I just can't get enough of windmills. :sweet: I think my construction collection will finaly have something to build...

By the way, this set is much easier to put in the city, due to it's not so large size. I have to build a table-extension to place 4999...

Well you decide: pay a lot of money (+/- 150 euros for the pieces) if you have a lot of space, you really love windmills and you want a detailed working model. But go for this one if you would just like a windmill to decorate your (small) town and make it more realistic.

Thank you very much for the pics and the link, Holodoc! :sweet:

Having looked closer at the pics I think the wind turbine isn't that small we all fear. Of course it's only half that big than the Vestas one - regrettably :cry_sad:. Nevertheless I'd say: better this small wind turbine than no wind turbine! Plus the transport vehicle and mainls the little escort vehicle are deisgned perfectly!

Since I regrettably can't afford the Vestas one I'm really looking forward to buy this awesome set with the transport! (Perhaps TLG will offer us a family house next year so we can add it to the bottom of this wind turbine snd then have something similar to 4999, too. )

You should be able to build the little house with pieces you own allready, they are pretty basic.

This is probably a set that I will get if I have the money...

I think some people will agree with me, the best part of this set for me would be the big red truck. This really illustrates the hilarious and sad truth about wind farming in this country (Ireland) to date. All the contruction work and hauling up to inconvenient locations - and occasionally building big roads up to them just to make it accessible, makes the whole "enviro-friendly" idea a bit of a joke. The big red truck is a great symbol of this - and it's almost bigger than the windmill itself. I wonder what fuel it runs on?

But seriously, if Lego wants to promote this enviro-friendly image (like in the recent Brick magazine), this is not a good way to do it. A very cool set, but windmills are a nonsense - even in Ireland where we get more wind per unit area than most of Europe. Wind power does not supply power on demand - and that is the power that is required. That is why the coal-fired and peat-fired power stations in this country will be sticking around. And like I said, the building costs of these windmills and decommissioning them really puts the whole malarcky in perspective, it's a PR thing, not a sustainable development thing.

Smaller packaging, and stackable packaging is actually a great thing though - saves money, and saves resources. Lego is doing very well with that endeavour, so I'm all in favour of resized images to fit the pictures on the smaller boxes, even though advertising agencies will tell you that bigger is better. And I wonder are they looking into deriving their plastics from biomass yet? The technology is there already.

The construction of a windfarm in Ireland (on a peat bog at the top of a hill!!! of all places!) caused a massive and dangerous landslide, for which we are being hauled to the European Court of Justice, AGAIN! The consistent failure of the planning permission process (too many politicians involved - unlike most other European countries) and environmental impact assessment would be hilarious, if it wasn't reality.

But, having said all that, I love the look of windmills and windfarms - and especially in Lego. :)

I also love the idea of having a big red truck with it (bigger than the windmill - running on dirty diesel), as my own little sarcastic joke about the whole thing. :)

OK, I was unaware of the promise from lego... but those should be taken somewhat lightly.

No need to be sorry for the boasting! I'm quite jealous.

And I also remeber all the hype when they first released the directions to 4999, so that you could get the pieces and do it yourself.

I guess I'm just in for the more realistic size.

As Dr. Brick said, if you buy all the necessary pieces for 4999, you'll spend ca. 150 euro. Much cheaper than the highway robbery prices on eBay or elsewhere. I'm buying the necessary pieces. I've already got the green BURPs. Unfortunately, my budget is too low to buy everything at once. Especially the PF stuff is expensive. I'm just beginning with the rare elements like the BURPs. I buy them from TLC. The instructions of 4999 are on-line on the homepage of TLC. There is one page of the instructions that shows all the elements plus the element numbers that TLC uses. Just phone TLC and tell them which elements you want. I got the green BURPs without any problems.
