When was your dark age how long was it and why did you get back into building LEGO?

And if you have not had a dark age what has kept you building?

My dark age was from 2005 since spring 2007 :oh3:

I don't know why, but I didn't had any time for my hobby.

So it went south...

But now I'm back better than ever before :sweet:

Being 15, I'm very susceptible to Peer Pressure, but I like to make a stand and say No! I love Lego, and if you don't like it ......

Recently, I've started a huge project, info is found in the Other Themes section, and it just makes me even more able to build!

I've taken all the right options (I think) for a great job at The Heaven Company (as I call TLC), and I hope to work there!

Eurobricks is an Adult fan site, so try to act like one here please.

Didn't "dark ages" actually refer to adult fans who'd had a long period of not even touching LEGO?

Anyway, mine lasted for ~10 years. Asya is the one who helped me come out of those a year or so ago and we've been building stuff ever since. I don't think LEGO would be half as much fun if I was building all alone, even though I've built some of our MOCs (bikes & cars) by myself. It's sharing a hobby with the idea of setting up our town which really made it fun once again for me. Otherwise, I might have taken the old bricks out some day, but I doubt if I would have had the desire to clean them all up and rearrange them, let alone start buying new ones.

There was a slight amount of time (2 years) that I really gave up on LEGO entirely. It just didnt seem right and also, I was into bionicles before so the new ones turned me off. After two years, I went into Marshalls and saw Vezon and Fenrakk for 20$. I tried it out and realized how much I liked it. Since then my hobby has been strong. I dont know what other people think though because some of my friends make fun of me. But truthfully, if they have a judgmental way of putting things like that, who needs 'em?

I never really had a dark age but for a while it became hard to play with my lego and I couldn't afford many sets a year until I started sixth form (I got EMA money then). Basicly money was always tight (and still is, apart from my highly disposable income) so large lego sets were a once a year event (and by large i mean the over £10 sets) but once I had money I bought lego. At one point we (my sister and I) were moved into a much smaller room with no space for lego so it all went into the loft, which was also tight on space. I had to take random buckets of lego and new sets down to play with on my bed. Now the loft has been sorted and I can play anytime I want, plus I can buy lego whenver I wish :classic:

My Dark ages lasted for about 20 years! In that time I have missed many a good theme, though I have arrived back in time to see AFOL's embraced by TLC, this truly is a Golden Age for Lego.

All the amazing Star Wars sets were responsible for dragging me out of my Dark Ages, and also wishing to share a love of the brick with my two children.

Cheers

I had a dark age from 1999 to around 2004. My dark ages ended when I was at Toysrus and noticed the At-At one day. It's still my favorite set. :classic:

Well, i hate to admit it but i'm in sort of a pseudo-darkage. the urge to build goes away every few days, then comes back, then goes away...

Heck, i just built some MOCS based on SplatterHouse. Where's that camera, gotta find it before the urge to bother people's eyes with my MOCs goes away...
