SHdude Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 I need help with a lego ship I am building (well, mega blocks actually ). The problem is, it capsizes everytime I try to float it! I need help with ways to stabalise it! Please reply! -SHdude- Quote
simonwillems Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 .... it capsizes everytime I try to float it! Of course it does, try Lego! Capsizing usually has to do with a too shallow hull and too large masts, you could try to attach a weight underneath the ship and make some sort of sword, that will stabilise things. Quote
barry Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 megabloks? i'm surprised you've managed to get the 'thing' stuck togethor long enough to attempt a flotation! barry over and out! 10-4 Quote
Sandy Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 If it's Megabloks, just let it sink. Had enough of bashing, yet? You really shouldn't come to a LEGO forum to ask advice about something like Megabloks. That's the same as going to a Star Wars forum to announce how much you love Star Trek. Quote

SHdude Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 Honestly, I keep asking my mum for legos... I'll just have to wait SHdude out! Quote
barry Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 (edited) Honestly, I keep asking my mum for legos... I'll just have to wait SHdude out! tell her to check out e-bay for old lego, then she will realise to spend a bit more now, and when you enter your 'dark ages' (called growing up i think!), she can sell the lego and get a good return... that might be a good strategy! i doubt if megabloks has much collectors value, but old school lego keeps it value (may even beat inflation, sayin that at the moment stashin your cash under the bed probably beats inflation!) lego troopers to the parts bin! barry over and out 10-4 this has really hit my heart you know! a kid without LEGO (and he wants to build!), having to make do with MegaBollockz! this is not right theres to man kids today ( i know cause, my brothers and sisters keep dropin them out! ), that not interested in LEGO, or anything apart from a PS3, and this poor blighter has been tryin to build a boat ( that i presume has problems actually stickin together!) keep on trying mate, and keep nagging at you mum! she's bound to give in eventually! Peppermint_M Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Bricks are not water tight.... Moulded plastic hull do a grand job but the ones that come in many parts can't float due to all the gaps between bricks. If it is a sealed fully molded hull and still sinks then the greebling and exciting bits probably weigh too much. Hope that helps, and I appreciate that some people get stuck with megablocks even if they want lego. (They are cheaper and some parents think it's all the same.) Quote
Capt. Kirk Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 (edited) Bricks are not water tight.... Moulded plastic hull do a grand job but the ones that come in many parts can't float due to all the gaps between bricks. --> It also depends of the state of the hull parts (used or still rather new) and about which hulls you talk. It's possible to let it float but some not for hours and hours of course. If it is a sealed fully molded hull and still sinks then the greebling and exciting bits probably weigh too much. --> Or you don't use new bricks (Talking Lego). Megablock bricks doesn't have a good form and as a result they close badly. But like Peppermint_M said,... the weight is an very very important factor. Hope that helps, and I appreciate that some people get stuck with megablocks even if they want lego. (They are cheaper and some parents think it's all the same.) --> Spoken wisely. At Bricklink you can buy boat parts and every lego brick you want... very cheap. Do you know Bricklink ? Here is a link to the boat parts. By the way 1: Lego use a Keel Weight to stabilise... so it don't it capsizes. Here is a link to the price list... it's very cheap... 0,117 USD for one. By the way 2: what kind of ship you build ? prateek Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 and I appreciate that some people get stuck with megablocks even if they want lego. (They are cheaper and some parents think it's all the same.) im one of those people but my lego collection is growing and my megabloks collection is shrinking Quote
Peppermint_M Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I have megablocks, when they were new in the UK my mum bought me a big box (the racing box, I wanted the space box but there were none in stock) and we noticed that it wasn't as good as lego but the price meant we could buy larger quantities and bigger sets. I bought the skate park megablocks too. Now its still there and I am going to sort it out of my lego at some point. Now me and my mum know it's not great quailty and there for not worht it. I might donate it and the other non lego bricks to someone who appreciates it. Quote
