Shadows Posted April 11, 2009 Author Posted April 11, 2009 And that concludes the CRAZY VOTING! I will now apply the magic formula to determine the winner! And the winner is ... Peppermint_M And what has Peppermint_M won? Why, a much coveted Jester, of course. Could there really be any other prize in a contest this CRAZY? Peppermint_M should now PM me a name and address for immediate prize dispatch. Congratulations to our winner and thanks again to all of the contestants who made this such a fine, CRAZY contest! Quote

Shadows Posted April 11, 2009 Author Posted April 11, 2009 Now may we know the crazy magic formula for this crazy number voting crazy competition? Yay, what she said. No. I plan to use this formula any time I need a truly random drawing and explaining it would make it possible to manipulate. Tricky, but possible. That's also why I gave it a random duration, just to prevent any possibility of influence. I will say this... it involves adding up all of your numbers. After that, it gets weird, but absolutely foolproof (Jester-proof?). When I revealed my intended method to the staff, I received a funny or two. Quote

Thrash Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I think that the lack of actual voting kind of cheated everyone who spent time making great entries (including Peppermint M) since voting makes people look over all of the different entries. Instead by basically making it a raffle, all of the entries kind of got forgotten about. Oh well... Nevertheless, congratulations Peppermint M! Quote

Instead by basically making it a raffle, all of the entries kind of got forgotten about. Oh well... I would never run a full fledged contest with no rules, no stated duration and no limits. Based on the variety of styles and sizes of entries, having rules would have only limited this to a very specific range of entries and we would have missed out on the opportunity to see some really nice efforts. I can certainly understand your concern, however, and will try to make it clearer in the future. Sadly, if you just say "raffle", some people won't make an actual effort to build something creative, and that cheats everyone. Quote

Sadly, if you just say "raffle", some people won't make an actual effort to build something creative, and that cheats everyone. Fair enough. I hadn't really thought about the fact that it would be difficult for people to vote on one best entry since the rules were so broad and led to such a variety of interests. Either way, I still had a blast building my entry and it was fun to look at all the other entries, so thanks for the great contest! Quote
brickzone Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Congrats Peppermint M. I hope my being a contestant doesn't affect how this opinion is received, but the truth is I found some of the other entries not crazy or funny but just crude and/or objectionable (drugs, poop, violence) - especially for a light-hearted subject. There were of course a number of really great entries, and it was a great idea for a competition! I enjoyed taking part! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Dude.... It's still sinking in. I got most confused (serves me right skipping to the last page and missing the last few posts on the fourth page) when people were congratulating me. For once mathematics was on my side Im surprised mine won because I think everyones else's were better but that is chaos theory for you. Thank you everyone *pleased* Quote

Shadows Posted April 11, 2009 Author Posted April 11, 2009 Not mine You know, yours almost didn't make the non-existent rules (but how can it ... nevermind, it's CRAZY) until I applied additional effort to thinking about the deeper meaning of a jester who is actually the king and realised just how CRAZY it was. If there was a "most crazy in the least space" award, it would be yours. Quote
