PAB Cups: What Did You Get?

I normally just buy sets, but I want to get back to thinking for myself where Lego's concerned, so today I went to the Lego Store in Santa Clara and packed this:

exactly Trent. I live in East Northamptonshire and although the Milton Keynes store is closer, the PAB wall is smaller.

I got the advance saver ticket (approx £10) day return to London and spent a good hour at the wall...

As it was the 31/03/12 (the last date for the holiday boxes) it was a little busy - Plus the staff were great, showing the others how to maximise the packing...

On the premise of getting white door frames (via Brickbuildr), I went to Bluewater earlier. Unfortunately they didn't have those, but they did have 1x2x2 transparent panel parts - of which I got not nearly enough. They also have a bunch of smaller transparent parts, with the rest mainly being bricks.

Ah, it were me what updated Brickbuildr with those doors - shame they ran out but I guess they're pretty popular with the kids. I wish I'd got more. Any grab bags of worth?

Most disappointed at the tiny pick a brick wall at Legoland windsor now, went last week for the first time in 16 months, the wall is now about a 6th of it's previous size, mainly basic colour 2 x 4's and thats it. The only nice thing was brown 1 x 2 plates. But they are now charging the a hugely inflated £5.50 per 100 grams and it used to seem steep 5 years ago when they were charging £3.00 per 100 grams.

I went to the Milton Keynes Lego store on Good Friday and refilled my 3 large and 1 small cup. Not too an exciting selection (I have updated the Ipab list for the store - first time in 5 months it has been updated). The main object of my raid was 150 1x3 tan bricks and also finished up with 300 1x4 red and yellow tiles. They had several bins with multiple colours and parts such as the transparent 1x1 cones and rounds and the flower parts (White, pink and stems).

Next visit will be the Berlin store in a couple of weeks, where I discovered the store is only round the corner from our weekend break hotel. Must remember the Ryanair weight limits though!!

Thanks so much for updating iPab, I've been considering a trip to visit MK but wanted to check what they had first. Berlin, ah, jealous, they have a great PAB wall!!! (And a fab city too )

Didn't see any grab bags at Bluewater or at Sepherds Bush; there were some not very good ones at Stratford.

Just got back from the Legoland Discovery Center in Manchester, and their PAB selection is good if you want 2x2 or 2x4 bricks (and red seats, for some reason) but poor for everything else. I picked up some fences, 1x3 light bley bricks and brick corners which came to £5.75 - I thought that was expensive till I worked out it was £12.86 from the PAB website!

I also got a Friends picture frame (853393), which I've not seen before.

I've not opened it yet, but looking at the box it seems the back clips on to the base. It's 24 studs wide and 5 useable deep, so there is some room to add more bits to it. I'll try and do a review when I open it

Only three pieces bought;

1) 1x2 trans clear (300+ per cup)

2) 2x4 reddish brown plates (300+ per cup)

3) 1x2 brick grille (500+ per cup)

Couldn't stay for more than an hour so didn't have time to pack in the two cups for the 1x2 brick grille. Going back again tomorrow!

Edit: better late than never. Not even sure what I'm gong to do with them, but I figure you can't go wrong with tans, light blues, and clear parts.

I'll take a pic of what I got today when I get a chance tonight.

Part storage for me. large holds 1xn plates longer then 3 studs in one, 1x2 and 2x2 slopes in another, inverted in another, log bricks in another, and i'm using a small cup to keep the trans-blue, trans-yellow, and orange toget(about 1 inch from the top).

I wasn't planning on going to LEGO store this month as I was saving for next month TC-14 promo. But I did tell my brother if he went, he should get some interesting stuff to take advantage of LEGO deal. He has my VIP detail BTW, he's not an AFOL but used to play LEGO when he was much younger and he sometimes pick up cheap LEGO at stores and such.

He sent me a list after he went to Troy store and I put it through spreadsheet for the price detail:

All for about $23 total (3 large cups)

Yes, those pearl lattice window panels are quite a steal when they're in the PAB wall, since they don't take up much room at all in the cup and for some reason cost a fortune on BrickLink!

Nice haul, although I don't know what you're going to do with 380 of those 1x2 bley tiles with gauges. I've got several hundred from grab-bags, and have never used more six or eight of them! Let me know if you find a good use for them...

We don't even have a Lego store in Australia let alone a Pick-A-Brick wall and it all costs too much anyway, especially the licensed sets.

If I ever get overseas anywhere near a PAB wall, I'll have to take an extra suitcase with me to bring back the haul I think.

Whew, I just got done making a spreadsheet of my "haul" for the first time. This is my second PAB cup ever, and the first time I "knew better" and stacked/packed the cup.

I went during a promotion this week for "large PAB cup for the price of a small cup". The cost of the cup was $6.04 before tax because I also used a 10% off coupon. (I'm kicking myself for not doing 2 or more cups now that I know the savings here!)

I'm really hoping they run this type of promotion again, by the way. If/when they do it again, I'll be sure to go on the first day of the promo, in the morning, because on the second day when I went, they had run out of a lot of "good stuff" - I was after one-wide plates in earth tones, because I want to be able to do landscapes with ease.

Anyway, here's the eye candy:

So my total savings over BL was roughly $36 and savings over S@H was $105.
