stevkir Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Jaysapathy, the wall still looks similar to that except for the window pains and white doors. I didn't see any of the windows them selves to put the pains in and asked one of the brick specialists if she knew of any in the back. I was told there wasn't any, I plan on swinging in again either today or tomorrow for any other updates to the wall. Quote

antp Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 That last one, I saw it in the store of Lille (France). I took just a few of these, as I am not sure of what could be done with these Quote
ThatLegoBrick Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Nice demo! Thanks. Unfortunately in the UK the lids are behind the counter, so can pack much less in a tub. Another example where we get ripped off in the UK. at least you get a lego store. Quote
Jareth Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Hmm....couldn't you save PAB lids from one purchase and use them on the next one? That's what I do. Quote
Drachmyre Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Salt Lake City is also my closest store. I hit them up this weekend and was not totally impressed. Ill give them the benefit of being new. The PaB wall was odd... A whole ton of 2x4 blocks in pastels. Flowers but no stems, window panes but no windows. I did get some stuff but not like I do in older stores. Mostly some black wedges and inverters for roofing. As a side note the employees also seemed odd. And I guess it is the newness factor. They have employees who wanted jobs instead of people who specifically wanted to work at a Lego like I see at older stores. I'm sure this will change over the coming months. Also, if you go and want something you don't see.... Ask, because they didn't seem to be restocking very much. Oh, and as the other person said.. The minifig station was pretty cool. Quote

The PaB wall was odd... A whole ton of 2x4 blocks in pastels. Flowers but no stems, window panes but no windows. I did get some stuff but not like I do in older stores. Mostly some black wedges and inverters for roofing. Like I said earlier, the windows have been there since they opened, they just haven't put them out because there's no window panes. There's tires and tire rims in the back as well, but they don't match (the wheels are larger than the rims). Their corporate baggage handlers haven't sent them anything new for the PAB wall since they opened, and they're concerned about running really low. Rumor has it new stuff's supposed to arrive next week, but we'll see.. As a side note the employees also seemed odd. And I guess it is the newness factor. They have employees who wanted jobs instead of people who specifically wanted to work at a Lego like I see at older stores. I'm sure this will change over the coming months. That's a Utah thing. Remember, this state's retail faction is run 97% by college students. There's one or two shining stars there, but for the most part, it's college kids who are trying to pay their rent and have more than one job. If Utah weren't such a college state with BYU, UVU, USU, SLCC, etc bringing them in, you'd find people who were more genuinely excited to be at a Lego store. It's not unusual for me to know what the store is getting long before the employees do. They just don't seem real "in the know." When I took my Lego store employee minifig in last week, the girl's first words were "omg how did you make that?" I have to admit that it does take a little of the magic out of a Lego store visit sometimes to have employees like that. Oh, and as the other person said.. The minifig station was pretty cool. The wife built a bar wench for one of our builds. I thought that was pretty funny for some reason. The witch hats, pitchforks, and the saxophonist hats were definitely the highlight of the bin. Really have my fingers crossed that they start getting new stuff.. 2x in pastel doesn't do a whole lot for me. Quote
Cara Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 What colour of pastels? I would love to see pastel colours, though I admit 2x4's aren't of that much use to my style of build. Quote
stevkir Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 http://wallofbricks.com/pab-display.php?pab_store_id=127&country=USA Cara, this is what is currently on the Salt Lake PAB wall with the 2x4 pastel colors. Quote
Lego Otaku Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) Raided local store after I decided my car can wait on a $125 repair (no heat, no air, blower doesn't work) Priority: LEGO over car repair. Until end of November, I'm stuck with extension cord and hair dryer to defrost my car's window and warm inside quickly. I came away with a bit more than I planned as they had a few interesting pieces. No masonry profile brick or olive pieces but they had a couple colors that weren't available online PAB. A display of what I got today: (yes, 2 different pink) A display of round transparent-red bricks on a counting scale: (this type in this color wasn't listed on LEGO.com PAB) Transparent-dark-blue cones for color reference. Tiles next to the cone are transparent light blue I updated the web site with complete PAB wall: http://www.wallofbri...pab_store_id=61 I had to leave 2 spots empty. Row 6, Column 6 is transparent red round 1x1brick, and Row 4, Column 8 is Transparent-light-blue 1x2 tile. For some reason the web site won't let me put that part in, I guess because they do not exists on LEGO.com PAB? Also I am not sure if I got the right tire or hub as I didn't buy it to compare with but the tire was about 1" diameter with 1/4" sidewall, and the hub is about 1/2" diameter. What I found cool are dark red brick, dark green brick, small palm leaves (can make fern plants), transparent blue tiles, and whole lotta of 1x2x2 and 1x6x5 panels. Part count: http://www.brickshel...price_chart.jpg (larger than 500 pix max) Forgot to add: free holiday set for spending over certain amount. About $25 on bricklink if I sell it. One thing that surprised me: transparent 1x2x2 panel is going for 51 cents each in quantity on Bricklink but only 15 cents on LEGO.com should have gotten more to sell. I did earn $15 on VIP or equal to one free large cup before tax, oh well. Edited October 24, 2013 by Lego Otaku Quote
antp Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Nice for the transparent panels. I hope to find these some day in the PAB wall. I got dark red 1x2 bricks a few months ago in France, I wish I had taken more of these, I hope there will still be some left for my next visit. Quote

I will have to agree. The Utah stores PAB wall is 1/3 repeats now. I like to think that the Utah store is doing better than predicted and therefore is selling out parts faster than they can be replenished. As I walk around Fashion Place Mall its interesting how many Lego store bags you see every where. Though there is one complaint that I have with the store is how long it takes to check out. There is usually only 1-2 cashiers at a time and a line of people covering half the length of the store. Quote
brickbuilder711 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Miami, FL. They also had lime 1x2 tile (meh), DkPink 1x4 (no use), and the cones in Trpurple. Quote
RunnersDad Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 That's a whole lotta pink right there! Quote
jaysapathy Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Found myself near the local Lego store, and stopped in to pick up the Cinema, only to find out they were out of the free Christmas sets, so I'm ordering it online. Meh. But, I was quite happy to find out that there were a few new things on the PAB wall. I managed to jam a cup pretty full with some 1x2 trans-clear plates, light gray 4x4 plates, trans-green cylinders, 1x4 white arches, tan 2x8 plates, and leaves(!). Also managed to shove a few white doors in there, which means I don't need to order the 5 I need for the sets I'm working on on PAB (that's a dollar right there!). The biggest find, however, was some trans-black 1x2 bricks. There weren't many, so I took what I could get my hands on. I've no idea what I'm going to use them for yet, but bricks like that always come in handy. In total, this cup had 567 pieces in it. Two and a half cents per brick. [rant] As fun as that was, I ended up having to fight off an obvious Lego reseller in the store. The guy was buying cup after cup of trans-clear and "rare" pieces (as he put it) just scooped full. No stacking, no methodology to try and get the most out of it, just jammed whatever he could in the cup and then grabbed another one. As the wife and I were pulling pieces out of a box that the employees were nice enough to get from the back room, he tried to muscle my wife out of the way saying "They never get these" and took several handfuls. Then he grabbed 8 of the same kind of Star Wars sets, went to the register, and argued with the employee about how he's allowed to buy all of them, as long as he does it in separate transactions. Then he demanded his free Star Wars pieces. As sad as it sounds, this sort of behavior runs all over Utah, and it's unfortunate that the Lego store will attract these lazy, rude, disgusting human beings. Bah. The experience didn't get a whole lot better after that, as I was talking to one of the employees about the local LUG. He asked me why I hadn't joined, and I was pretty direct with him that I thought all the LUG members were socially retarded. He was then nice enough to tell me that he was a member. Awkward. [/rant] The employees were telling me that the manager, because of the high estrogen factor she sports, is requesting a lot of the pastel colors. Rumor has it she's ordered some 1x2 plates in pastel pink, which should be interesting. It was nice to see a handful of new things on the wall, and if that's any sign of what's going on, our local store is finally starting to get some good stuff. Now if they'd just stop selling out of the freebies.. Quote
brickbuilder711 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 That's a whole lotta pink right there! Redemption for the long wait! Lol!! I stashed the 1x4 last year from the same store. Quote
jaysapathy Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Spent some quality time at my local store yesterday to be pleasantly surprised by the amount of hew stuff being put on the wall: 1x2 lime green bricks 1x16 white bricks trans-green cones trans-blue cylinders 1x6 red bricks 1x6 yellow bricks 1x3 dark bluish gray bricks 1x4 tan bricks 1x1 light bluish gray bricks with bar on the side and last but not least, both parts of the light bluish gray 1x2 hinges that are used to create the pointy rooftops. Pretty sure I missed a few as well, but those were the ones I could remember. The gentleman stocking the wall was loading it up as fast as I could fill the cup. For the first time since the store opened, I actually had to take two cups instead of one, just because there was so much new goodness there. As an added bonus, he said they're getting shipments every day this week in preparation for Christmas, which means the next two months are going to be PAB expensive while I try to grab a little of everything on the living wall... Lego Otaku Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Nice 1x16 could use a number of them for internal support. I may need to run to LEGO store sooner than I planned if they are stocking faster. Still trying for masonry profile bricks. Quote

Most of the employees over there are great (one or two give me the creeps), but the AM is exceptionally awesome when it comes to giving me the heads up on what's coming up on the PAB wall. I spent two hours there giving him advice on how to shift it around to make the most out of the space and get the best amount on the floor. Whether he really genuinely thought I was helping him or he was just tolerating me remains to be seen. ;)The wall is going to be crazy over the next month and a half, if statistics are to be believed. I'll have to stop in and pick up some more goodies as the wall changes -- keep me updated. Quote
ShaydDeGrai Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I managed to score a small cup with 448 Black 1x1 brick with studs on four sides (Part number 4733) along with a small handful of cheese wedges and 1x1 round tiles (thrown in to take up awkward voids) It may not sound like much, but given that I needed a lot of these for a MOC I'm working on, I'm quite happy. Bricklink says the average price for these guys "new" is 0.27 USD (and S@H prick-a-brick asks 0.35 USD each) so that works out to $121 (from BL) or $157 (S@H) worth of that part alone - not bad for eight bucks.
