So, we all know how popular the Indiana Jones side-pack has become.

What else do some of you really like to use in pirate MOCs that are non-pirate items?

I just picked up a collection and there are a lot of Western Mini-figs, have any of you had luck incorporating them into your ports/ships/MOCs?

I was thinking of doing a French and Indian war battle scene, I think the natives from Indiana Jones, or maybe western Indians, are better than Islanders. Agree/Disagree?

Do any of you use the BIG opening backpacks? (I just got four)

Let me know what you think! :pir-blush:

I use a lot of the Johnny Thunder set pieces, like heads, headgear and torso's for my minifigs.

Lots of details came from the Castle sets, like the turkey drumsticks, minifig heads, lion-head statues...

In short: I use a lot of "non pirate themed" bricks in my MOCs, I think everyone does.

I use lots of different minifigures from Adventurers, Western, Indiana Jones, Vikings, Castle, Town, HP, some star wars, ninjas, Agents (not the torsos but there are some cool heads and some piraty hair (gold, red and black). There are lots of various torsos that make good pirates, towns people even a few that work for soldiers. I have a few of the Indiana Jones natives that I use along with the islanders. I like them a lot. I use my native amaricans as pirates. Brings in some diversity. I must have around 1,500 minifigures in my collection (not counting space related which I strip for parts then through in a box). I am not squimish about mixing fleshy minifigures with the classics. The more variation the happier I am. I am going to take some pictures of them all tomorrow and get them posted.

Really cool!

I also have established my own mini-fig "junkyard" as I have been buying up collections. I think Im going to take the torsos I cant use and ebay them. I have no idea where Im going to incorporate a robot head/legs into my harbor. :pir_laugh2: So im pretty sure that can go.

--> Yes they're nice and useful.

What else do some of you really like to use in pirate MOCs that are non-pirate items?

--> Everything that I can use in that certain moc... too many TLC products to say.

I just picked up a collection and there are a lot of Western Mini-figs, have any of you had luck incorporating them into your ports/ships/MOCs?

--> Some go and some don't go... you must always look at the clothing style of that periode (16-17-18 century).

--> IMO if you don't use the correct minifigs in a moc... the presentation of the moc loses his value.

I was thinking of doing a French and Indian war battle scene, I think the natives from Indiana Jones, or maybe western Indians, are better than Islanders. Agree/Disagree?

--> I agree with that.

--> The original Islanders are more a savage type for me.

Do any of you use the BIG opening backpacks? (I just got four)

--> No... to big in comparison with the minifig.

--> I don't say I will never use them... but only with a good reason (see second question).

1,500 minifigures in my collection

wow .. that's a lot more than me^^

I use every minifig/accessories that seems good for the theme personally ^^ I only have a johnny thunder torso, but I often use it, Of course I use some castle accessories and minifigs too, but sometimes I use some old city things ^^

Or you can make torso's yourself, like I do. The only problem is the fact my printer is once again, empty... no yellow ink anymore, different weird colours on my torso's which don't fit with the LEGO colours! :pir_bawling:

I use castle, Jonny Thunder and IJones pieces. castle has good assesories such as cups, knives, animals and the odd torso that is usefull.

For Jonny thunder I really like the Torsos and assesories . The best part for Indiana Jones is the sidebag.

Well actualy skeletons were introduced in 1995 after the first few Pirate lines so maybe skeltons if they first were not in the Pirate theme  . But yes the adventure line is great for pirates some of the castle stuff it also okay.

I bought a bunch of the white Snowtrooper backpacks to use on my army (I felt they looked better than drab grey or brown) and am currently tracking down some Western covered wagon sets (6716) to flesh out my "supply train" for my army.

For pirate ships, I'm looking to incorporate the Advenutrer's line Emperor's Ship and a Harry Potter Durmstrang Ship into a pirate theme.

I use some HP heads, or any cool looking head that fits the Pirates theme. Bricklink is great for finding the perfect faces.

What does "HP" heads mean? Hey, Bricklink has got everything. :monkey:

I'm guessing Harry Potter...

Though I am never sure with you Pirate fans

The Power Miners' heads are great for pirates (the mean side, not the scared side :pir-wink: ). They are sort of modern pirates after all! :pir-grin:

And Castle is obviously a treasure cove for piratey pieces and minifig heads.

Castle helps alot with my pirate stuff. And viceversa. A lot of good accessories and faces. A couple jonny thunder and ninja torsos blend in perfectly with pirates.

I like using Lego castle minifigs and accesories, but i use some Lego space's heads...here an old moc i made some years ago:

captain_seawolf_tower.jpg

captain_seawolf_tower2.jpg

captain_seawolf_tower_3.jpg

You can see:

The pirate of the cannon has a Spyrius guy head(Space)

A Samurai's torso(the pirate in the middle of the tower)

A wolfpack torso with a pirate head(but the pirate head is from Lego Castle Ninja)

A pirate with wizard's beard( of the wizard of Dragon Knights)

The pirate in the boat has Fright Knight trousers

A wolfpack flag

The table is from Witch's Magic Manor(Fright Knights set)

The base is from Forestmen's River Fortress

I have a minifig with Ice planet 2002 old guy head and a pirate woman with the head ofthe red-haired IP2002 babe, but not in that MOC

the lego studios female "actress" minifig wearing the dark red dress also makes a good character to be captured by pirates or a civilian to be milling around the soldier's fort

I find that the sith and jedi torso's, lages, and head's make for some interesting Eastern pirates or traviling digniteryes. Althow, during this time peroid I think Japan was isolating itself

For minifigs I use Castle and Adventure ones, like this: :pir-vader:

I also used tires to make the busby for my troops: :pir_laugh2:

Anyway, you can use any minifig as long as you think is ok.
