Big Cam Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 OK, I know Daylight savings time just changed and somehow that is likely the cause for this. But I have the forum set to (GMT - 6:00 hours) Central Time (US & Canada), Mexicol City And this is correct, I live in Fargo ND, USA which is smack in the middle of the Central Timezone. Now previously I had not turned on the DST setting and the clock was correct, but now that DST has stopped, my clock is an hour late (my correct time is 10:30am forum shows 11:30am), so I clicked DST on like the board suggested and then it was two hours fast (my time 10:30am forum shows 12:30pm). So the only option I can find is to swith my time zone to Mountain time, but I shouldn't have to do that. Where is the forum hosted at? Will this fix itself in a day or so, I'm just curious if DST is handled differently across the pond? Quote
filip skywalker Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 (edited) I have had this problem for a long time. Mine is set to GMT+1.00 (Sweden), and the forum always is one hour after. Edited November 2, 2009 by filip skywalker Quote

Same, it is always like that for me too. I just can't be bothered to change it to the wrong country. Now it is 2 hours out due to the time change. Edited November 2, 2009 by Eskallon Quote
Big Cam Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Oh, so it's an hour off all together?? Maybe I'll just change it to mountain time and call it a day. Quote
Rick Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 In an older topic on this same issue, we agreed that it's probably best to manually adjust the time to a different timezone than your own... For example, I use GMT, even though I'm actually in CET. I guess it forever remains a mystery. Quote
Big Cam Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Thanks for the link, that made me realize that I didn't search first , and I'm such an advocate of searching. Doh, I guess it just slipped my mind. I'll just change it to mountain time, and the world keeps turning. Or I suppose I could forever be an hour behind. Quote
Eskallon Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Oh, so it's an hour off all together??Maybe I'll just change it to mountain time and call it a day. No, for me it is 2 hours off. Quote
Big Cam Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 No, for me it is 2 hours off. If you uncheck DST or set it to auto that should set it back to only one hour off. At least it did for me. Quote

Big Cam Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Thanks, I just did that and now like you said it is only an hour off. After reading the other thread again, it's best to just change it back one hour and have DST set to auto, then the time is correct. And I can certainly live with that. Quote

I have merged both topics together. I don't have a technical answer for your question but I think its better to set the time which make sense to you. Quote
Big Cam Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 So I have set the time zone back one hour and in my control panel it shows my correct time, btu when I search and view other recent posts, it shows them happening one hour in the future, but when I post it shows my time? EDIT: OK, after i post the search results show the correct time. I'm done trying to figure it out. Quote
Eskallon Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I was looking at the different forum posts in each separate forum on the main page and it said a member posted at 9pm, so I checked and on the post it said 8pm so i checked that main page again an it said 8. Later I came back and it said 9 again, this has happened a few times now, so I am just wondering if anyone knows what is going on. Oh and by the way I might be mad as I always feel deja vu and normally what I dream comes true however strange they are. Quote

Nah, that happened to me too. I finally just adjusted my time zone accordingly, reagrdless of where I am to get the right time. Quote
JCC1004 Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 (edited) I hope this is the right place for this. I cannot get my timezone correct. It's currently 1:07 pm where I live. I've changed it a few times to Eastern and Central. I'm in eastern but it says the correct time in Central. It's always saying it's 2:07. I'm just confused now. Please help me. Thanks, JCC1004 Edited November 14, 2009 by JCC1004 Quote

As a lot of people has mentioned the forum clock is an hour off, but why care when you can change it to the right time yourself that easy. Quote

Knightsword Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 The board is always a hour ahead, with the daylight savings time it becomes 2 hours ahead, I'm in the USA CST (GMT-6) time zone Quote

This was established and a solution presented in this very thread. Quote
petero Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I have my settings set to: (GMT - 5:00 hours) Eastern Time (US & Canada), Bogata, Lima and Auto Correct DST is checked (or ticked, if you prefer). However, the EB time is one hour ahead of my actual time. When I View New Posts, the newest posts are an hour ahead of my actual time. I've tried setting Auto Correct DST off, and adjusting it with the "Is daylight saving time in effect?" checkbox, but the EB time remains one hour ahead. I do have cookies enabled for EB, so that's not it. No need to lose any sleep over it though. It just bugs me because I noticed it If you have a list of things to look into, put it below the "extremely low priority" items. Peter Quote

Siegfried Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 As a summary of this issue; An old EB server that was shared had the wrong time. Since it was shared we couldn't change the time, and it's easier now to just leave things as they were then. Quote
legomama Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 (edited) I have a question regarding forum time settings. Is there a separate setting for those locations that practice daylight savings time? I am in Columbus OH, USA, which is Eastern Standard Time (generally -5.00); however the time is set 1 hour after what time it actually is here in the states. My guess is that it's due to the practice of daylight savings time here. It's not a big deal, but would like to change the setting if there is one. Thanks. Edited August 29, 2010 by legomama Quote
Siegfried Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 The forum clock is wrong. Has been for years; read about it here. We could fix it but then everyone would have to correct their settings... Quote
