WOW, good buy! Only problem, no blue epaulettes. But I have to ask, what seller had this many imperial gaurds? I may be interested in buying a few myself every now and then. Congratulations on all that loot!

Hi guys - I was wondering if it would be worth the time and money to put together the complete Black Seas Barracuda with orders solely from Bricklink?

If I took a look at the Inventory List from peeron.com and then ordered the cheapest bricks, bits and pieces from all the different sellers on Bricklink, do you think that the total would be smaller than if I bought the Black Seas Barracuda on ebay at a reasonable price?

And what's the average price for the Barracuda on ebay.co.uk or ebay.com?

Thanks

That's a really difficult question. It depends on the number of bricklink shops you have to buy stuff from. I mean you must also include the shipping costs. The more sellers from whom you buy, the higher the overall shipping costs. Then it depends on whether you would like insured shipping or not. Insured shipping is more expensive, of course. Do you want to purchase new or used bricks?

I'm not sure, but I think bidding on the complete set on eBay might be cheaper. But wait for some more replies. I think there are better experts on such matters around here than me.

If you search well, I think the price would probably be lower, if you do not take shipping costs into account. But it will take some time and effort.

The sails would probably the most expensive, next would be the hulls (or instructions if you want them), the rest should be fairly cheap I think, since there aren't really rare pieces in BSB as far as I know.

I'm not sure on the prices, but you could check http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18219 to get an estimate for how much they where sold.

Why not use BL's inventory btw?

There's dozens of US and UK eBay auctions at the bottom of the Pirate forum so keep your eye on those for bargains.

We also have a Buy ships for your MIGHTY fleet thread which offers auction highlights. There was a couple of Black Seas Barracuda for under $50 a day or two ago, but they might be more now.

The average price for the US would be $120-$150, but if you keep your eye on the auctions you could get one for $50.

The average price for the UK wold be £40-£75, but occassionally you'll see one as a low as £20.

I can generate some RSS Feeds which deliver Black Seas Barracuda auctions straight to your browser or Feed Reader.

This means in one click and you can get an instant update of all the Black Seas Barracudas for sale on eBay without even searching eBay!

Thanks for all your replys. I had been thinking that it would be too expensive because of the shipping fees from the many different sellers. But if I really wanted to spend a lot of time browsing Bricklink, I could probably buy most of the stuff from a few sellers in Europe which would make the final shipping fee a bit lower - I really hate that it's so expensive to buy Lego on eBay because most of the interesting stuff is located in the US or UK - and if the price isn't listed it's mostly because the seller wont ship outside US/UK :(

thanks again - I'll keep an eye out for the thread with the many auctions on ships

UK to Denmark shouldn't be too bad given that Denmark isn't that far away, but US to Demark is usually expensive.

No, this isn't necessarily the case because it takes time to source and update shipping costs and not every seller has that time - and some sellers don't know how to add shipping costs for other countries in the first place.

Unless the seller specifically states they do not ship internationally just send them a message to confirm. It can hurt more not to send a message because you might miss out on a great deal.

I guess you don't know what RSS Feeds are, ah well, it's the old fashioned way for you then!

I'll start you off with this...

6285 Black Seas Barracuda with box

Only £20!

If you don't count the sails, the only really costly thing will be the hulls. They are also the only part that is very bulky, so the shipping price on them will be high, so that will be the most important thing for you to find locally. Everything else is just small bits, so if you can get them from just a few different shops, it shouldn't be too bad, even including shipping. It really shouldn't be too costly to build it this way if you have good luck with the hulls, especially if you make your own sails and crew it with whatever pirate minifigs you might already have.

You're right. Those hulls are the biggest problem - but I can always look for those on ebay too. As for sails, I can easily make my own, but it would be nice to have the original ones, but that will come in time. I'm not in a rush

I saw this before more then a month ago and I lauged at it too...10 euro for one minifigs? And most of them lack shako's and backpacks.

They aren't even armed!

Yup, I have a feeling he'll be selling those for a loooong time unless the price comes down considerably.

Maybe someone who doesn't really want to sell his army, unless he gets this ridiculous price for it, so he can buy an army twice or trice the size.

I saw it too, and I think nobody is going to buy it.

If he wants to sell it he must improve the minifigs enormously.

Like Zorro3999 said they aren't even armed.

But it is a nice collection though. It matches mine in size...
