BrickworldBryan Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Share - Learn - Explore - Discover The Brickworld Team is proud to announce the following Mindstorms competitions for this year’s event: Stock Sumo – Are you a Mindstorms expert? It doesn't matter for this competition. Come and see if you can build a robot that can push everyone else around. This competition will be held on Friday afternoon. There will be a limited number of NXT kits available for individuals/teams to build a robot with on Friday morning to compete. Steve Hassenplug and the whole Mindstorms Coordinator Team will be available to provide expert assistance as you prepare for the competition. BOTS - In this super secret Build on the Spot challenge, you find out what your robot has to do on Thursday at 1 PM. The competition starts at 8 PM. Think fast. Build fast. Program fast. But, most of all, just have fun with this competition. FLL Climate Connections – In this repeat of the 2008 FLL challenge, the kids’ teams will get a chance to exact revenge on coaches that are willing to risk it all to prove they are more prepared than their teams. Bring your robot and run against the clock to see who can score the most and finish the fastest. At the FLL World Festival last week, one team scored a perfect 400 points with 30 seconds to spare on the clock. This competition will be held Saturday. Indy 5.00 – Racing is natural for all of us. Bring your best and race the oval of the Indy 5.00 track. Qualifying begins on Sunday morning. Open Sumo – Do you think you have the biggest, meanest robot on the block? Come throw down with the other Mindstorms tough guys in open class sumo. The fight begins Sunday afternoon. You can find all the rules for these competitions at www.brickworld.us under event info/competitions. We look forward to seeing you in Chicago when we light up the night with World of Lights!!! Regards, The Brickworld Team Brickworld will be held June 18 - 21, 2009 at the Westin North Shore Hotel in Wheeling, IL (a suburb of Chicago). visit the Brickworld Web Site by clicking here Quote
Ricecracker Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Just to clarify, the first one is the only one that you don't need to own a Mindstorms kit, correct? Quote
BrickworldBryan Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 Just to clarify, the first one is the only one that you don't need to own a Mindstorms kit, correct? Officially - yes. Realistically - If you wanted to try and compete in more competitions, I suspect you could find a kit to borrow at the event. The stock sumo is the only one where Steve, John, Tom, Chad, etc have volunteered to spend time helping people with their robots. Good luck!!! Bryan Quote
