Hello people.

Have any of you used Lego for school?

As in creating a Revolutionary War diorama or creating a Mindstorms bot for science?

I my self once built a technic blue and black catapult. Fired two meters. Brilliant!

Yes fourth grade, i forgot what it was but i remember i used a blue water/island base plate, had pirates, i remember because i wasn't the best kid in school, and i beat the smartest girl in school for first place and it really cheesed her off, she had a big sook and whinged about it being lego and shouldn't count.

Think i won a $20 book voucher and mum and i got lost trying to find the place, and i remember buying a magic school bus book.

Yes. For the past three years (grades 6, 7, and 8) I've been using Lego for projects as often as I can. I've done a few book reports, a Lego elastic car for science, and two Holocaust memorial projects. Two of these will be on display at Brickworld. I hope to continue this trend.

So your 12?.

way back when I made a Sphynx (sp) and an Eiffel tower

I also made a prosthetic limb for science

No, but the idea has crossed my mind. Maybe next year.

No I haven't

But my son, aged 9, got a seven (out of 10) for his talk about StarWars and showing of part of my collection.

I used Lego for English class. I made a pirate vocab game. Sure, my class was making fun of me for collecting Lego, but they all wanted to play it, and they haven't bothered me since. :classic:

In february-march, my final year as a full-time student, I used LEGO to demonstrate a buisiness idea I have, as a part of an assignment I had.

While the demonstrator model itself didn't sell the idea, I was at least told that I was a good seller, and that the idea had potential. I'm not sure if it would work in real-life applications, though. :sceptic: But the model sparked some interresting discussion, at least. :classic:

I sure did! I used King's Castle Siege parts to MOC a castle for my history class (we had to make a castle). It wasn't too shabby looking, actually. I nearly won the prize for originality (at least, thats what I'm told).

CT

Sadly never had a chance. If there was more excuses in school for it I probaby would have.

No, he's 14. Just look at his profile page. I'm 12.

I've never used LEGO in any school projects yet, mainly because I don't have enough minifigs or parts. And I just got back into liking LEGO 1-2 years ago.

When I was in 9th grade we had an assignment to read a book then recreate part of the book in some creative means. I had read War of the Worlds and made a small city being

torn apart by alien ships. It actually turned out pretty good and I got an A+ for it. I wish I had taken pictures of it. I remember feeling a little funny as I had the only Lego creation.

Man that was like 20 years ago. I feel so old.

When I was 9 or 10, I can remember that our teacher allowed us to bring as much LEGO stuff to school as we wanted. I can remember how my 4563 set stuck out. I didn't bring so much to school. Just the oval, some straights (I didn't have so many straights back then) and the diesel engine alone without any waggons. I was afraid of losing elements in school.

Well, my very small oval with straights 9V layout was surrounded by lots of 12V trains and endless 12V tracks. I borrowed some waggons from my classmates. They were pulled by my diesel engine. Same gauge, you know. Quite convenient.

I have just finished making a Robot using Mindstorms NXT for my mechanical engineering degree.

It worked perfectly!

We had Lego in our Gr. 5 class for no apparent reason but in Gr. 6, 7, 8, we had Mindstorms and NXT for the FLL (first lego league)
