One of the large individual Tommy/submachine guns:

d-figs-wicked-gun.jpg

WOW! :cry_happy: Didn't realize that it was a different mold than the Batman tommy!

Hope that they use that same gun in #7195 Ambush in Cairo!

Om nom nom, all those dark tan parts, man I want this set, how did you get your hands on this. :cry_happy:

Really like that machine gun in hard ABS plastic, the one in the Batman sets are a little more soft ABS, or something, i'm not good at explaining things :hmpf_bad:

I can see some detail differences to (on the machine gun) to bad we only get one in the set, there are so many great parts in this set :sweet:

Yes, the guns are different to the Batman ones, I'm sure someone did a photo comparison last year.

The Ambush in Cairo set also features a prominent Tommy gun, so at least it is in a cheaper set.

Thanks for all your kind comments, everyone! This set wasn't high on my must-have list (apart from the figs), but my opinion dramatically improved once I built it. I think the most impressive thing is how sturdy the play models are - the boats don't just fall apart or explode - you have to make that extra effort and when they go off they do so quite spectactularly!

every set you review, i start wanting it

Maybe that's because I only review sets I like myself

(Apart from the dreaded kitchen scale )

Yes, they do, don't worry! I'm glad too, because it would be weird if it came with all the bat gadgets as well (Nanananana BAT JONES!) :sceptic:

Nice Reveiw! The only thing discouraging me from this set is the seats in the boats placed sede by side, Kinda like the car in the river chase set.

Thanks a heap for the review svelte-corps, as always!

Man oh man do I love this set more than ever! Four ridiculously awesome figs, and great construction to boot!

The figs have so many uses I dare not even reel them off, but the set also is much larger than I thought, and all that dark tan and brown is making me feel giddy.

Also, a new tommy gun mold is just ace! Thanks again, I'll be totally buying this.

Batbrick Away!

Okay, your review got me. I want this now.

It looks a fair bit better that I thought- maybe those mediocre pictures before this detailed review just did not do it justice. And I  any new hairpiece: I still cannot believe I spent fifteen years with only a single hairpiece.

Although one thing in the review bugs me- it's the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword, not the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Rose.

Now all we need is a huge boat with a buzz-saw propeller cabaple of turning a boat into little plastic bits!

Boy, Lego needs to learn! :hmpf:

And are the handrail supports new molds?

 I'll fix that. I was obviously getting confused by the flowery lapel and Eco's 'The Name of the Rose'.

And are the handrail supports new molds?

It's the spyglass piece from Pirates in black, also used in the AAT and Medieval Market Village.

This didn't bother me, as so much action is going on in the chase sequence (people leaping up, shooting, grabbing the controls) that it isn't hard to pose the figs side-by-side even with the lack of arm room.

I wish the fez sat a little lower on the head. They look bald.

Steve

I disagree; if it sat lower, it would have to be wider at the base and then it wouldn't look like a fez at all.

If they wanted to add detail they could have printed hair on the minifig but that would probably be cost-prohibitive as they'd need to do it double-sided.

Thanks for the amazing review of this new set, svelte_corps! :classic:

I really like all of the good pieces in this set (the new minifigs, the fezzes, and everything else!).

It also has a huge amount of play features for a $40 set.

If I have some extra money to spend on LEGO, I'll be sure to get this set.

I voted outstanding for this. :classic:

Oh and by the way, I think that you put one of the windscreens for one of the boats too far foward; I think that it's supposed to be one stud back.

Actually, acording to the photo of the instructions, it looks like the windscreen should actually be half a stud back! I wasn't even aware that was possible... and on even further investigation, it looks like the windscreen is indeed a full stud back in the box art.

To be honest, both options do look (even) better than the way it has been positioned in the review photo's (no offence, BTW, it's an excellent review!).

I think I forgot to put the control panels on the first time, so took the screen off and didn't put it back right. To be honest though, I didn't notice. I may fix the main shots but I think the action ones are fine  The screens are positioned differently on each boat though.

This is the best review I've seen in a while

I first thought the fez's would looks awkward but now I think they are the coolest

hats!(Second is tophat  ) I thought that they would do a old hairstyle but they

instead made a nice new classy one. I have to agree that the stache is awesome!

By the way, keep on doing these awesome reviews!

Very nice review man

Y know that you can also use the strange hat for a minifig like Ki-Adi Mundi. It should be flesh color though.

But anyways a nice set and an even better review :classic:

This is an excellent review, and I definitely want the set now, unfortunately.

As far as the 'strange hat,' it's a fez. It's in the title, and it has been mentioned previously by several people to use it for Ki Adi Mundi. No offense, not being mean, just making a statement here.

A wonderful review for a wonderful set - thanks a lot for this! I really like the detailed bridge and the play functions on the ships, which are of course the absolute best part of it! Funny that a licence theme brings us the best truck we ever had, the best plane, and now the best small motorboats! I can imagine one of the boats on a brick built lake coma with Bikini Leia and germans mechanic on it, I love summer!
