April 28, 200915 yr So, The question is in the name. Can they? Were would you put the cables? I was going to use them in a lighthouse. I would run the cable down the structure, under the catwalk, into some burp and lurp, and into a power source.
April 28, 200915 yr For the FRS Shakespeare I had originally tried to put light into the light on the main deck (just visible here) and into three crystal-ball lanterns on the stern-castle. I got all the wiring worked out fine, but I had problems with getting a power source of the right strength (too low -> doesn't light up; too high -> blows LEDs). I ended up blowing all of the LEDs (non-LifeLites), which was a waste, but in future I'll be more careful. Enough of the anecdote, it just shows that yes, it would be possible, especially with better equipment. If you're going to use the standard palm-tree-top/lantern part, it could be difficult, as there would be little area to conceal the wire. From what I've seen of LifeLites, you need a technic half-pin area to harbour the light, and a hole at least of bar width for the wire.
April 30, 200915 yr I would say yes because... see picture.[snip] Check out brickmodder.net. If they are always that colour I'd say no. I don't think the blueish light would fit into an Age-of-Sail-setting. But I guess there's always a way to get the desired colour, so I say yes! Btw, slightly of topic, that lamp looks great! How did he do that? I can't spot a wire whatsoever.

I saw a HMS Victory Model ship that had Illuminated Laterns and Stern Cabins. It looked fantastic with a, Gas Latern Orange colour. It would look amazing in the back of the HMS Unicorn!

May 1, 200915 yr Author Yes, exactly. I don't think you could hide a wire behind that. Unless he Photoshopped it out to gain customers? Could be, You never know. But you see the base of the lamp? Its pushed up a bit, So its proberbly the wire has been cut into the pieces of the lamp.

Ah, but if it hasn't been photoshopped, then it hasn't been hidden behind but inside the lamp, seem pretty dificult to me with such little pieces. Oh and btw, weren't you the one who liked to correct spelling errors?: ... So its proberbly the ... C'mon, you've got to be kidding me! j/k mate

May 2, 200915 yr If I were you, i'd use trans-orange, trans-yellow, or that funny color in between, make it a 1x1 round and wire it through the rigging and through the top of the lantern-disc. As for the white light escaping out the bottom, just put on a 1x1 dot or a 2x2 studded disc. If you want a torch, wire it to a black palm-tree top and put a trans-orange cylinder on top, with a flame piece in the hole. --Rick--
May 2, 200915 yr For a torch you could use these LED lights, with the flicker effect; In my town, you could get 2 of those for €1 orso..
May 6, 200915 yr That desk lamp is probably a real shot; no photoshopping! Go to a convention that Brickmodder Labs is at (like Brickworld) and you can see some of the amazing things he can do! I saw a jawa minifig whose eyes lit up!
May 6, 200915 yr Author I was hoping someone would reply, Cause I found the Image I was looking for! Huzzah for me!... Anywho, This is the HMS Victory Model I was referring to:
May 30, 200915 yr me persanaly I go to the hobby shop up the road and get "gran of rice" LED's and conect them with a ladder circuit. I did this in a 1/48 scale model airplane once and it werks grate, used nine LED's and only used an E-90 (a smaller 1.5V battery) about half the size of a AA or AAA. The parts on the desk lamp makes me think he mite have used somthing I saw in a magizen called electricly conductiv paint, but thats just me speculateing.
