Brickthing Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 But I don't understand their logic: Bionicle is going to continue, Power Miners is getting new sets, so how the heck do they think they can sell a combination of these two to the same demographic of kids as well? The way the new BIONICLE sets are named seems to infer BIONICLE will not continue, but that's probably me being pessimistic. However, currently LEGO has always had similar action themes going at the same time, such as Agents 2.0, Power Miners and Space Police 3, so it's not really a surprise that there will be another action theme being Atlantis, which is probably replacing Agents 2.0. In the Atlantis set though I like the pieces in it, but the overall thing seems like a Exo-force/Power Minerized Aqua Raiders theme. Quote
salty tbone Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) Maybe we should wait to see more than just a thumbnail of one set before we condemn a line we knew nothing about 24 hours ago. I realize that's not how some AFOLs are wired, but still. Edited August 11, 2009 by salty tbone Quote
Yloquen Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 It seems like a theme replacing Power Miners (maybe their current wave of products is last). It has flashy and bright colors and a box that will probably be very appealing to kids - red, blue, neon green, gold/yellow. We should see all images of the sets before making any decisions. The only thing that I don't like so far are the big plastic wheels and saws from which I have enough ... Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 Thank you very much for the news, Christian and TheCobra! You can read my comments to this news in the concerning topics. Only a very short comment for now: City - very disappointing! Star Wars - really ok! Atlantis - a seond Power Miners theme?! Klaus-Dieter Quote
Derek Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 That Atlantis theme sounds interesting. Perhaps we will get some nice ancient buildings out of it (probably not, sounds like another vehicle oriented theme ) Did anyone notice the blue creature with the trident on the right? No doubt this is going to be another Mars Mission/Power Miners type theme, where humans invade the creatures homes and steal their crap (probably crystals again) yet the creatures are made out to be the bad guys. Remember that controversial thread from a couple months ago? -darthperson Quote

Lordofdragonss Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 8058 - Giant Shark Hmm... New Giant Shar, or Brick build one (maybe a "baddies" ship?)? Quote
Brickthing Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Some shit like the Crystal King, I suppose. Nah, because a shark doesn't have as many articulation points, so it can't really be brick built. It would need too many giant specialized and <insert that tiresome argument> parts to make it work. It's probably a baddie ship. Quote

It was nice, but I hope they don't do it again since I already have that set :D Quote
The Rancor Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Some of these translations look very promising, and I'm interested to see there are also more Power Miners in 2010 as well. I'll save my opinions for Atlantis for the other official thread though. Quote
Guy Felton Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 [*]Transformers. I recently saw the MOC of Warpath, and I thought it'd be awesome to have lego Transformers, not to mention completely appropriate. I want it to be minifig scale though, and that might not happen. But if anything, a line like that would be the perfect replacement for the defunct Exo-Force. I'm of the opinion that Exo-Force didn't do well because the mechas were too flimsy and because it relied too heavily on stickers to convey detail. I'd wager the Transformers line would do exceptionally well if TLG released one Autobot and one Decepticon set a year, both $100 and designed properly (no skimping on the details with stickers, though I'm sure it'd look less like the movie versions and more like the current action figure versions), for the next n years. Maybe they should've done that back in '07 when the movie initially came out. Transformers is completely unlikely. Lego and Transformers are competing toy brands. They won't merge anytime soon. If LEGO really is into reviving old themes I guess we may get cowboys. *hint* I dunno. Wild West would really be the only theme I'd be interested in buying, though the racial Pioneers vs. Indians conflict may strike up controversy. It just wouldn't be as easy to pull off now as opposed to ten years ago. Quote
Oswald the Rabbit Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) I hope for the Atlantis theme, Lego brings back the dolphin molds and creates one a Killer Whale. Edited August 13, 2009 by Oswald the Rabbit Quote
Matt Dawson Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I'd love a decent revival of the trains line - could we possibly see second radius track? perhaps we'll see a revival ala 1991 - decent independant sets of rolling stock which were useful. Maybe a few more 9V sets? (we can only hope! ) Quote

(we can only hope! ) Welcome to EB Matt Dawson (You should create a thread in the 'hello... my name is' section to introduce yourself) ...And yes, 9V or similar train sets would probably be the only few sets I would buy for the playability in the City line. Admiral M Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but still, look what I found on brickipedia (in english!) New set list It's got Atlantis, Star Wars, and Power Miners. How do those names sound to you? I hope with atlantis we get some destroyed temple of some kind, maybe with a load of seaweed! Quote
TheBrickDaddy Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 We all knew Spongebob was gonna kick the bucket eventually... I think we should wait for more photos before we judge this theme. Just look what happened with the Rebel Blockade Runner! And a request from my little bro, could someone direct me to the list of Bionicle sets? Quote
legoindy01 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 And a request from my little bro, could someone direct me to the list of Bionicle sets? here ya go: 7116 - Bionicle Tahu 7117 - Bionicle Gresh 7135 - Bionicle Takanuva 7136 - Bionicle Skrall 7137 - Bionicle Piraka 7138 - Bionicle Rakhshi that's the list I got from the bionicle theme section. I've never collected bionicles nor really understood them so I can't refer you to anyone. Well, a friend of mine who lives near a lego store asked the store manager (who is his friend) if they were continuing indy. His friend said yes they were but he can't tell the sets names. He did say the "the big set for indiana jones in Jan. 2010 is amazing" I now remember last year when everyone said that indy wasn't going to continue in 2009, now look where we are. I can't wait to check out these atlantis sets, if they make a king neptunes palace or something I'm In!!! Quote

I also heard Ben 10 would be bionicle syle, ball joint, giant figure type thing. i am hoping that pirates continue in 2010. Quote

Ahem...*Cough* Old news *Cough* And that Ben 10 will be Bionicle style is a conclusion made by some members because of the announcement of the line which said it "would add a new twist to LEGO building". The Green Brick Giant Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 (edited) I hope for the Atlantis theme, Lego brings back the dolphin molds and creates one a Killer Whale. Also if they don't use the mermaid legs for the theme I will be hugely disappointed. I also don't believe anything that is said by the people working in a LEGO Store. The Cobra Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 It seems like 2010 products disappeared from Amazon.de I tried a couple of links and they send to a "wrong page" Quote
