Klaus-Dieter Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 Since - against my thoughts and hopes - Power Miners will get a new wave next year and since we'll already get that many new themes (licensed: Cars (Duplo), Toy Story, Price of Persia and Ben 10; not licensed: Atlantis): Do you think that there'll be another new theme in 2010 - Western or Romans or Greeks or whatever? Btw: I'm very surprised that there weren't any Pirates sets mentioned until now for the first wave of 2010. So it seems as if they very supposably firstly came out in the 2nd half of 2010. Derek Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 On that Brickipedia site, did anyone notice this under "Themes introduced or discontinued in 2010"? The Legendary is to be released (Note: The Legendary is a fan created sets only to be available on the Factory web site).I think that this has some great potential... Quote

I think that this has some great potential... Thank you very much for this information, darthperson! This indeed could have potential (if these sets didn't look like the bad Factory sets of last year)! Hopefully this is right and we'll see some good Western sets - that would be awesome! legoindy01 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I was thinking that it could be cool if they redid studios. they've rebooted alot of themes and with all of these new licsenses coming out they could really do it. Here are some set ideas: George lucas: movie maker(studio 2) set has a back drop that splits it in 2 sides. SIDE 1 Star wars episode 5 The backdrop on this side is of some lights like in the scene where luke finds out that darth vader is his father. the baseplate has 2 stickers of the bottom to give the effect that they are up high. The long walkway leads out to a circular plate with like a pole or what-ever just like in the movie. It includes luke, darth vader with actor underneath helmet director in first ever directors chair, george lucas with cap behind the camera. a huge crane with another camera and operator, a boom microphone and operator, and a bunch of lights. SIDE 2 Raiders of the lost ark The backdrop on this side is the jungle temple from raiders. There are a bunch of 1x2 dark green/brown/green slope pieces that line up on both sides of a narrow path. It includes the huge boulder that runs down the slope pieces when you pull a pin and indiana jones in jacket, steven spielberg figure in directors chair now in flesh, george lucas behind camera (the camera pulls back when you pull a pin) , boom operator with mic, and lots of lights. and a snack table just for kicks. There are other sets that could be done, but this one is a huge possibility with lego having both licenses. Quote
Ondra Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 (edited) If it is only for technic 1. half of year, it is some posibilities to have next supercar in 2. half of year, because supercar is one of very few thing which hasn´t been rebuilted in 7 years.8297 is good, but it isnt truly supercar with gearbox and some real car stuff. LEGOMAN132 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I hope the Technic helicoter is at least a $20.00 set so we get functions on it. I hope in the 2nd wave we get a large Airplane as well. Quote
ziljin Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I hope they make some sort of impulse set for the Toy Story Army Men minifigs. Just swap out the hands and heads, and you got army minifigs. The heads and hands could go and make smiling zombies/mutants/aliens/trolls/etc. Quote

legoindy01 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 After the mess with the Star Wars Hasbro lawsuit I doubt LEGO would ever make Impulse sets for any license, the best you can hope for is a battle back. I'm pretty sure it's mattel that has the toy story action figure liscense. And yes, that is the exact reson why there will never be an impulse set for for indy, star wars, ben 10, toy story... It probably will be a battle pack tho for $10. That could be cool. And I would buy like 20 of them. Quote
ziljin Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Having not been into Lego until this month, whats this lawsuit? Liscence wise how are battle packs any different than impulse sets? Well battle packs would be even better, more minifigs, variable gear(I guess bad if you want multiples of the same piece of equipment), and probably some neat accessories and/or vehicle. Quote

Well battle packs would be even better, more minifigs, variable gear(I guess bad if you want multiples of the same piece of equipment), and probably some neat accessories and/or vehicle. I've missed that lawsuit too. However the impulse sets are pretty much just a fig and some utensils. So it can be argued that a Star Wars impulse is a "action figure" rather than an "constructible toy". Even though the fig's gear are made from a number of LEGO bricks. So I'm assuming that this was what that lawsuit was all about. So, to make sure it is considered a constructable toy LEGO adds a small vechile of about 60 - 90 pieces to the battlepacks. Quote

legoindy01 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 The lawsuit was between hasbro and lego. Because lego started making "figure sets" which by techinicality hasbro called those toys action figures. Hasbro sued and lego lost the rights to continue producing "figure sets" The same goes for Indiana Jones but I believe this happened long before indiana jones came about. However I believe Matell has the toy story rights to make action figures so lego can't make any Impulse sets for toy story. Quote

The Cobra Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 No pics yet, but an Italian user has written that he saw them, and: - sets number 3### are City and NOT Duplo. - Ben Ten sets look a lot like Bionicle. - Boardgames will be available in Italy too (that makes me think that they will spread around in Europe) - No new Space Police Sets so far. - Atlantis: sort of underwater Power miners. - No Castle of Pirate sets, but that's no surprise. Not much new, except maybe some more info on Ben Ten, which I don't really care about anyway (I was already convinced that 3xxx would be System City sets). Is there any indication that the list we have so far will be the full January line up, i.e. no Pirates in January? Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted September 5, 2009 Author Posted September 5, 2009 (edited) Thank you very much for this information, The Cobra! Is there any indication that the list we have so far will be the full January line up, i.e. no Pirates in January? Since there'll be that many themes out in the first months of 2010 (City, Duplo, SW, Creator, Technic, Bionicle, Power Miners, Atlantis and Toy Story) I can't imagine that TLG will release some new Pirates and/or Castle sets in the first half, Rick. I personally bet that we'll see more SP and Pirates sets in around July/August/September. For Castle I bet that we won't get (apart from perhaps one exclusive set like this year's awesome 10193 MVV) any regular Castle set next year but a completely "new" Castle theme in 2011. Btw: In one month BrickCon is already over. At this time I suppose - or at least I hope - that we'll know whether there'll be an exlusive set in January and even to which theme it'll belong and what it'll be. What do you think? I don't think this stuff is true I've talked to two other people that have seen Atlantis and they said it's more Sci-fi than power miners. And I don't think they'd stop making 3 themes that are some of their top sellers. Quote
Sandy Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 And I don't think they'd stop making 3 themes that are some of their top sellers. No one has said they'll stop making Castle, Pirates and Space Police, these news are only about January releases. We'll see more sets from those three later next year, I'm sure. Quote
The Cobra Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I agree with Sandy, let's not forget that we're only talking about the first half of 2010. Castle (Fantasy era) had it's second (and third) wave coming out in the second half of the year. The first half of Lego 2010 also includes SW, Technic, Creator, Racers and Toy Story and 4 Power Miners sets, which I didn't mention because we all know. The Fire brigade and the Carousel will also be available in selected shops (that has happened in 2008 and 2009 in Italy for the Caf Quote

Plus, that stuff IS true because we all already knew 90% of that; the words about Atlantis (the guy's opinion, not necessarily a fact and surely not an official statement by TLC) reflect what many people thought after looking at the only pic we all saw. I should probably have written "No pics yet, but an Italian user has written that he saw them, and in his opinion:" is there any chance you could ask this fellow for further descriptions? Quote
The Cobra Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 I haven't registered on the forum he writes in, which is obviously public so everyone can read. Still, I think that now that Lego has sent to retailers their cataloge, someone will soon do what he shouldn't, and that's scan and upload pictures. Quote
