I really don´t like the painting idea at all.

If you are not super talented at this.

I would prefer decals all the way.

This question belongs here.

There isa alot of exelent guys there that can help you out there.

Have a look around, and you will get the feeling for it.

Hi jimmyhoppityhop Welcome to EB :sweet:

you can always try "Sharpie" Permenent Markers they are good but some times tend to rub off alittle with damp-wet hands

Decals are good from what ive heard but ive never tried them :hmpf_bad: it depends what kind of paint you have, is it specifically for plastic material?

because if it is then maybe give it ago

but if you stuff up with paint then try "Sharpies" because If you use them and stuff up bad, then you just use alittle Methilated Spirits and it comes off just like that :classic: but be careful how much meth you use because it tends to spread RAPIDLY on the "Sharpied part of the clone" and is annoying if you just wont to apply it to a small area, also another good thing about using Meth on the sharpied clone is the meth doesn't even hurt the clone or the printed pieces so its great

Hope this helps. :sweet:

well my paint is gameworkshop, you know warhammer paint, i might go with that sharpie tip. ill see what happens but when come to the special armour like the vicor, can i use the sharpie for that or would i have use the paint???

If you're trying to do something that involves changing the helmet, you're going to be stuck with the paint method, just don't expect great results. If you're changing torso patterns or want to put a pattern on a new colour, that's definitely a decal job. There are a number of useful tutorials and plenty of great customizers around who can probably lead you in the right direction.

No busted flipper, here

I suggest you use Sharpie. It's the easiest, and it's removable. They even have White Sharpie Paint markers so you can really change the color of anything.

Thee only problem is that blue and black come out purple.

Are you talking Citadel paint?

If so, then I hope you're skilled.. That's one super cool, but extremely difficult and thick paint to use on minifigs.

There's plenty of good tutorials around on making regular or water-slide decals and I suggest you read a few of those before molesting your figs with permanent markers.

As a general rule, I suggest you skip paint and markers.

Try making and printing some decals and add them to old torsos before handling expensive Star Wars torsos.

Skill comes from trying and failing several times...

You don't have to have see through paper. Since Clones are primarily white, you just need white paper. What I do is use a program called Photostudio 2000. I can edit colors, making this 3515937915_d9e1945ab7_m.jpg look like this 3515943979_bcba0bd94b_m.jpg. I print them out on standard white printer paper, and run them through one of these. It works quite nicely and is relatively cost efficient.

Looks like someone hasn't read my tutorial on cheap customizing. All you need is white paper and glue! Get them out of the decal index LuxorV provided for us. Elmer's glue works like a charm, just cut and paste!

Also, I suggest you do not paint the legs, it's usually past to go over only in places that aren't touched a lot.

If you want to unpaint it, use Rubbing Alcohol. Okay? :classic:

does rubbing oil take away some of the affect on the clone???

cus i use surgical spirit which takes away a tiny bit  which is bad but its better than having it look like rubbish lol, but ill try that stuff but its still gonna be hard to start of

Hi, jimmyhoppityhop here is how I use to do decals

Step 1: print decal

Step 2: Take some packing tape and apply it on to the decal

Step 3: cut decal out

Step 4: apply glue to the back of decal and place it on the minifig

hope this helps you :classic: oh I just forgot to say here is a commander bly decal for you. :classic:
