LEGO responded to my question with the follow message (yes, in this format too):

Dear Sir/Madam,

In regards to your query, the Knights Kingdom series is its own product (theme), therefore separate from the old Castles.

I'm actually quite surpised that you got such a definitive response. Still, its nice to hear an official resonse on the subject.

I have been shown to be incorrect. No point in furthuring this. My opinion doesn't change but I will from now on admit KK2 is not LEGO castle but is indeed just KK2.

Well I hope they start releasing LEGO castle again then.

What might that be Mr. Phes?

I still hold to my opinion that KK1&2 are every bit as much as castle as anything LEGO has made yet. It merely has a different twist to it. Thus it is regarded as a different theme. I will refer to it as such but for me it will remain castle LEGO.

Anybody could have taken the intiative to contact LEGO and confirm what Knights Kingdom really is and saved themself an unncessary debate. Unless of course they like debating, like ME!!!

I haveenjoyed the debate. Blueandwhite and SuvieD brought some damn good arguments to the table. And Its glad to know that my gut feelings were right!

I think its very surprising an actual human read your Inquiry... I thinK I should try to ask what countries the Imperial Guards were based on and why did they switch colors...

Not debate for the sake of it but merely to open up the table to all logical options. People don't always agree and even when something seems obvious it isn't always. As LEGO is the originator of the debated theme then until I hear from them or until someone presents what LEGO has said no one really knows what the official word is.

I try to stay out of debates as much as possible for a few reasons namely pride, arrogance and anger. Arguements tend to stir these up in numerous ways. Most debate on EB is mostly harmless. Probably because this is a LEGO site and not a politics/religious site. ;)

Regardless, I really do hope LEGO brings back a true castle, pirate, and space theme soon. I like KK2 mostly for the new parts but I would like some more robinhood and blackbeard better.

Heraldry included exotic animals not generally associated with Europe.

Morcia is not a part of Europe.Who knows,Morcia might be a kingdom on another human-populated planet .

Anyway,

I do not see KK2 as a continuation of the Castle theme. It is a new line.It is not meant to be like the old Castle theme...It is about a land with its own culture. The knights are ''Skittle Knights'' simply because they want to represent their own province.Who knows, maybe Morcia (when their technology is as advanced as ours) will be talking on WWW.MorciaBricks.Vlad about the brick theme called ''Knights' Kingdom'' where knights with boring, grey** armor conquered other lands.

**I do not really think that the Earthly knights' armor is boring.I like these more actually.

*phew* That was a lot of typing, compared with my other posts.

This is a massive bump here...

I read though 90% of this topic :sadnew:

I find the response from Lego very surprising (perhaps see my rebuttal). To be honest I usually just go with what ever Bricklink has. KK1 and KK2 are listed under castle, so they are sub-themes.

The rebuttal I am putting on the table is that Lego is saying that KK(s) is a seperate theme to all the old lego is that is a "Sub-theme" a different theme yes, but still in the over all umbrella of castle.

Able to read this thread with the current Fantasy Era line makes for very interesting reading. You can see how Lego has evolved their product thought the ages. I might just do a thesis on product development and interent fan communities. I found this so throughly interesting! -character development - story -variation... fantasy era has it all! :cry_happy:

Thank you to those that took part in this deep discussion I have been entertained and swayed on both sides of the argument. I hope by my commenting it will bring others to this great topic.

Regards, Cpt. PB

PS I wonder what response we would get from Lego today?
