This is a fantastic set and a great review to go along with it. I will be keeping my eyes open for this set to be released. For it looks like the only one I will be buying out of the Castle lineup for the second half of the year. That golden knight is such a great minifig.

That is really a fantastic set, thanks so much for the review Mania! :cry_happy:

The minifigures are top-notch; 2 brand new ones, I simply love the Gold Knight with his beautifully printed armor and the queen is excellent as well. What I really like is that TLG doesn't seem to be so cheap anymore with minifigures, the fact that this set has 2 brand new ones and one with a brilliant new head (Not to mention all of the back printing) shows that TLG isn't just giving us the same minifigures in almost every set.

The design of the tower and drawbridge are also nice. They are not mind-blowing in the detail department but that being said, it looks very solid.

I'll definitely want this one. Thanks again for the lovely reviews Mania, I look forward to the next installment. :classic:

Looks great, and I'm glad you'll be able to incorporate it into KCS without too much modding, which is probably what I'll end up doing.

Thank you for the awesome review. This is very exciting stuff. I really appreciate how Lego is adding more variations of females. BTW the drawbridge mechanism is also found in 7249 XXL Mobile Construction Crane. This set is a winner in my book! :classic:

That Golden Knight is just...SHINY.

I have Jester from the Advent Calendar but two of them is just better...

That tower is great too, and i finally can get hood and 1 more cape! :classic:

Thank you very much for this great review, mania3! :sweet:

This set is just getting better and better! I like it at first sight but now when I see all the great details I'm loving it!

The best surprise was the golden knight's awesome torso, I can't believe TLG made such a detailed torso just to hide it under a armor :oh:

Now all I have to do is wait.... :sing:

I voted Average.

This set looks overpriced (as most 2009 sets), I don't like that gold knight at all and the queen that much. Everything else is kind of OK, but not so extraordinary.

Sorry for anyone who was momentarily inconvenienced by the bandwidth overload. I never expected to go through 25 GB of photo views in less than 12 hours. :classic:

Great review! Oh, and by the way, Mania3, the drawbridge mechanism was also used in the Indiana Jones Temple escape.

I made a mistake and voted 'Below Average' before reading the review and looking at the figs. Now, I would have definitely voted Above Average, just so everyone thinks I'm not a sourpuss :classic: . I am also very excited for the Troll's Mountain Fortress figs, they look outstanding as well, although the hefty $100 price tag is a downside. But I think I might have to get this set now.

Yes I'm really happy with those new dual sided printed head. They allow more choice for re-use in MOC !

This set is definitely on my short list !!!

Yeah, I totally agree. If there was ever a question in our minds, it's certainly safe to say we're living through a new golden age of LEGO.

Thanks for the review!

The figures definitely sell the set for me. A Queen with a non-screaming face, a Figure with pearl-gold colouring, and a Jester! And the cry-face of the Jester has so many possibilities for MOCs!

I really really enjoyed reading this review, especially when this is one of the better looking castle drawbridge compared to the recent KK2 version. The minifigs array is superb, and there is quite a few exclusive minifigs as well, on the Golden Knight and the Queen. In this case, it's a winner.

mania3, I am wondering, if there is a possibility for purchasing two drawbridge and place it back to back from each other, creating a longer path. I am curious. :classic:

I don't really like the Knight as much as I want to.

I think his antique looking bronze "gold-ish" armor makes him seem like a weaker knight compared to the original shiny silver helms.

I'd love to make him captain but he looks "cheap" as it's more bronze than gold. I wish he was instead metallic. Secondly, if I had to choose between having only bronze knights and the originals I have right now, I'd pick the ones I have in no time.

Sorry guys, I'm not knocking this set at all. I think the price is quite descent I guess, the minifigs are excellent!! Beyond excellent. I just think this knight could have been worked a little better given the geniuses we have at LEGO. Having said that, I applaud them for creating an inner garment front and back!! As well as decorating from top to bottom of the knight, a single bronze color. Excellent in overall printing. I just would have changed the color and printing.

No matter how critical I am of the knight, the DOUBLE print heads, FRONT-BACK printing of torsos and some legs make this OUTSTANDING. This shows lego at its very best when it cares heavily for its fans and what they demand. I gave it a straight 5/5.

Finally, thank you mafia for reviewing this : ))))
