First off - nice use of the DSM-V in referencing this particular malady!

I've gotten a few of the Power Miner stuff, but they're not a priority or "must have" theme.

Love the look of the King though!!

Thanks for the review.

mania 3, great job!

The pictures are great. I liked the review so much I blogged about it.

Awesome Mariann, thanks for doing that. I try to read your blog every week or so, you have some really phenomenal posts that I wouldn't normally find elsewhere. Glad you liked the review.

This piece is really cool, it can be big knife for butchers, wing, or just orcish weapon! Thanks for posting :)

Yeah, I was thinking it's got a tremendous amount of potential. You pretty much covered all the ideas I had initially.

Yes, they were down. But I caught it immediately and took care of it. For those interested, here is the new sword piece featured in the set. I thought it was new, but I wasn't sure.

Uh... Pyramid Head anyone?

Thanks for the review mania3  . I think this set is neat and and seems like a reasonable buy after some other purchases I most do before this one :thumbup: . The pieces are really cool but the build seems very lame :cry_sad: . Also, I am the only one here that imagine a big Rancor in place of the Crystal King, a Luke and a Gamorrean Guard in place of the two miner minifigs and a 10 anniversary SW logo in the corner in place of the PM one when you see the boxart  ???

Silly crystal toothed rock monster looks silly. might've looked better with trans orange and black.

Speaking of black, do those 2x2 blocks with the ball joints sticking out of them come in any other sets? Do they come in black? They look very exploitable...

Well, do they?

Thanks for this nice review, mania3! It could have been a little more in-depth though. For example, it would have been nice to see the PMs without their head pieces, the drill pack from the back, the monster's skull from below, and how it attaches to the neck. Oh well.

I too am liking this set - not for its design, of course, but for its parts. I do like the design of that drill though. If I see it for $15 or less, I'll get it.

Thanks for that pic! And I agree that this piece has quite some MOCing potential! It will be extremely useful as post-apoc greebling. :sweet:

No, they only exist in this color, and you can buy them from Pick-A-Brick.

If you want to find other sets that these come in, try bricklink.

Yes, I think you are. I like your imagination though.

I especially like that this set has five of this new part! Definitely picking this one up as soon as it's available near me.

It actually has seven.

Thanks for the review, mania3!

You're finding so many sets so early.

This set doesn't seem that good for $20, even if it has lots of new pieces. :sceptic:

I voted average.

I voted this average.

When I buy LEGO sets, I want sets, not dolls.

Those ball points are annoying.

Come on Lego, don't you even care that ball points makes dolls like these look stupid?

Oops, exo forceish dolls are already pretty stupid.

I can see him using this monster to fight the black dragon that he has.

I can see myself doing that too.

Thanks again for a nice review mania3. I can't say I like this set very much at all either, though. There's no new or exclusive minifigures, there's no "wow" factor, and worst of all, it looks like an attempt to "Systemize" a Bionicle. I can't see the pieces being used much in MOCs, either, since the monster is basically joints with a few bley and trans-green pieces.

I voted below average.

i really like this set. i voted outstanding. it is nice to have a larger monster to be the leader and to be able to combat all of the power miners massive vehicles. the large head is awesome but has no further use in MOCs. the rocky crystal pieces are cool too and it has four light trans green crystals! i think the power miners sets need more than opne crystal in a set so this is nice. this will be another must buy for me because i really like the power miners theme. thanks for another great review!

I like Power Miners (well mostly the minifigs), but I don't like the Crystal King. The weapon looks awesome though. A giant monster doesn't seem that appealing to me. This will probably be the only cheap Power Miners set I will skip. I will probably also skip the Command Rig and Minining Station (too expensive for my tastes). I will probably buy tons of the smaller sets just for the minifigs though.

Could you please post the drill assembly? I'm curious as to see how the orange drill-thing was done. If it's a single piece, it could be extremely useful for triangular MOCs.

It's not, it's made up of a technic tri-pronged connector hub and three of those spikey end bits that look like Sonic the Hedgehog's shoes :p Sorry, I'm not that up on the part terminology.

Just take a good long look at it and you can figure out how it is made. Plus the instructions are available on the Lego website.
