May 16, 200915 yr Great ship and really nice to see the work process, particularly that you guys all met up and did it. It's nice to see positive things like that coming out of these forums. Are there any more projects on the horizon? We most certainly plan on more projects for the future, as much as we can actually. Well I can spot another ship in CGH's place, on the yellow sofa.I haven't seen it anywhere before and it looks cool. Perhaps that's a small thing they're working on too? We'll see! I'm sure that ship will be around the forum if it is finished. That would be my ship the Yellow Thief.
May 16, 200915 yr I wasn't even aware of that ship! Nice work Captain! Especially the stern looks awesome. And the rigging too, ofcourse...
May 16, 200915 yr Beer, Smokes and Lego. What a life Anyway the ship looks awesome. Keep up the good work Not Smoking. It makes your white bricks yellow.
May 16, 200915 yr Author Eurobricks Emperor nice^^ now we know how you build big ships! how many were you to build it finally ? 3 ? 4 ? Errorist worked on the stern in Amsterdam and helped the first day of rigging in Belgium. CGH worked also at those same moments on the ship but besides that the good captain has been guiding me through the entire project and more important, he let be borrow his tumblehome technique and his brand new technique for making the galleries like they've been made on this ship (under 2 angles). He had developed that technique on a small test model, but it was not yet done on a real ship. I'm eternally grateful for being allowed to use these 2 wonderful techniques!
May 16, 200915 yr When CGH presented his Mort Royal I really wanted to know how to do the tumblehome, but I figured out my own already in that time. However, those kind of ships are a huge source of inspiration to me. Thanks for that! I also spend a lot of time trying to figure out a technique for the galleries, it seems to be I succeed in that but now I have to put it to the test...

Somewhere in the near future i will reveal the tumblehome secret.
May 26, 200915 yr I think it would be cooler if you keep the secret a secret, and let people guess! Let people try to design a tumblehome as well. Although it's still your secret of course and you may decide what to do with it!
May 26, 200915 yr If i need ideas or inspiration I find that playing my guitar and listening to metallica do wonders
May 26, 200915 yr I got my inspiration from listening to Nightwish and watching movies like Master and Commander, Hornblower and Pirates of the Caribbean. Captain Green Hair's ships are a huge source of inspiration for details on the ship. Bonaparte's ship too. Sleeping does a great job too, last time I woke up and I suddenly had a magnificient idea.

June 26, 200915 yr Author Eurobricks Emperor I am rather confused by the Voyager poster in the background though... Why confused? I used to be a real Trekkie in my youth. I've seen every episode of The Next Generation many times, same for Voyager, DS9, the movies. I even speak some Klingon

September 29, 201014 yr Hello Bonaparte, it's an amazing ship you've build. Which of the ships you have used as source of inspiration? Can you tell me which material you used for the sails? I'm a conformist!!
September 29, 201014 yr Fantastic ship... Its amazing how well beer and legos work together And as derfel cardarn said, Metallica helps too Edited September 29, 201014 yr by Nosaj
October 12, 201014 yr Reading this topic sure brings back good memories, luckily we are starting a new project pretty soon! this is great but I was wondering how you make the yellow side pieces on the stern? The galleries are made with horizontal plate hinges and attached to the ship with pins, under an angle. Wait... How did you take this WIP ship all around Europe? In his private helicopter of course... Hello Bonaparte, it's an amazing ship you've build. Which of the ships you have used as source of inspiration? Can you tell me which material you used for the sails? I'm a conformist!! Thanks, the ship was mainly inspired by the HMS Victory and other ships of her time, it also explains the colour scheme. The sails are made of an old treated Ikea curtain I had laying around. Fantastic ship... Its amazing how well beer and legos work together And as derfel cardarn said, Metallica helps too Beer and Metallica, agreed!
