I have some out-of-town plans, leaving tomorrow morning. The mystery will be paused, but I'll go ahead and leave the current chapter open if you guys want to share your thoughts.

Will be back Sunday afternoon.

Don't kill anyone!

Blooper Alert:

Brakes was on the bridge standing at the area with the missing planks. He was not able to return to the front with Grease to go wood hunting.

It wasn't my fault. Blame Grease/Shadows for giving me the wrong hint.

And what was Arin's excuse?

Just to let all of the participants know:

I will be out of town Monday - Wednesday, 8/24 - 8/27, and unable to post. I hope to catch up Thursday. I'll go ahead and leave the threads open, but please don't have too much fun while I'm gone.

Talk to you soon. :classic:

One thing I have to let you know TheBrickster when you see this; I'll be on holiday at the Gold Coast, Queensland for two weeks from Saturday, so I'll probably have ot pull out of the game that day, unless I can use my family's laptop there. I'll let you know further details later, but suffice to say, should I not be able to continue, I would like to die in the bloodiest, goriest and downright most horribly way possible please. In the game, that is

To the Brickmobile!

Just to confirm; I need to die as soon as possible, preferably before Saturday so I can read it. Or just get written out of the game, because sadly (and I am annoyed that I won't be able to continue) I'll be on a two week holiday which I'm sure won't be useful. Unless of course two weeks has little effect, in which case if it's fine with you TheBrickster if you could just put in a couple of lines for me.

This game has been running for 3 and a half months. Do you think it's going to end soon? Sorry, but I'm starting to get a little bored of it. Everyone is doing a great jo, the host included, but it's just so slow moving. No game should take as long as this one is.

Yeah, I had a question like that too...

If the passengers get out of Willoughby, will they just go home, or will the mystery go further?

The length of these mysteries is really based on the actions of those participating. While I'd like to get things moving toward the end as well, it all depends on what you do, unless of course you die first. I will say that a final solution is close, but that depends on you. What does help is specific action by all vs. dialogue.

Maybe

You know, you can also help the progress yourself by not asking us to be so specific all the time. After all, we have little visual clues of our surroundings or actual options. So for example, instead of asking "how do you want to carry this item?", you could ask "would you like to carry this item with option A, option B or perhaps option C?".

That way we'd also avoid the situations where we guess wrong, and you say "you can't do that" or "you left the axe back in there" or "you find that you don't have fuel for that" etc.

My main point is that everything is in your control, pretty much. How long this lasts is ultimately up to you, really. :classic:

This is like a roleplaying game that is very open-ended (aside from just shooting someone). I would like for you to provide a solution vs. multiple choice questions.

Yes, I can speed up things from time-to-time, which I have done, but I'd like for you to initiate the action vs. me telling you what you can do. Perhaps you'll think of something that I have not.

I understand that, and it's been a fun concept, but on the other hand, as you can see, people are starting to get a bit frustrated with the pace. So even though I realize and respect the fact that you have your own plans where this game goes, it would be good to listen out what your players are saying, and adjust the game accordingly if there's need for it.

I've certainly have problems with not listening to the players in the past in some of my earlier games. The result was that suddenly I had no players left. Not saying the same thing is happening to this game, just sharing my experiences. I'll certainly stick around till the end, I'm in no hurry.

Okay - I'll take your input into consideration. I will say that you guys are getting pretty close to the final conclusion, so it shouldn't be a lot longer.

Another thing that you could take into account: Useless Chapters.

Cassandra's Crossing is the most recent. Why have us go there to just deem that it was not safe. Why not just say.

"The group travelled to Cassandra's crossing, and after several failed attempts to get over the old bridge, they all deemed it was unsafe and returned to Main Street"

That would of ruled out all the time that we spent there, which was kind of pointless if you ask me. Agin, I'm sorry to challange you, but critics are who make us better at what we do!

Another thing that you could take into account: Useless Chapters.

There is no such thing as a "Useless Chapter" in my mysteries. While the group decided to explore all the lines (not me), there was a reason for you journey to the bridge and discovery that it was unsafe (on your own), and another chance for the Town Council to cause trouble.

Listen, with the threat of sounding blunt, if you don't like the mystery or want to continue to criticize it, you're welcome to stop participating, as have a few others. Do you really think its pleasant for me to have to update the mystery on a daily basis for three months plus. I do this for the enjoyment of those participating and interested in continuing the mystery. I have a life outside of Eurobricks that I'd love to catch up with, so I too would like for you to solve this and get on with it, without offering multiple choice questions; or in addition to reading the mystery, respond to your criticism to things you don't always understand.

Jut sbecause TheBrickster may have missed it:

I have to say I disagree with the others though, I may not be the best at this game but I'm really enjoying it.

Goin' on a holiday fer two weeks!

Thanks Batbrick. I read your post. I won't "kill off" your character, unless one of the townies get you. Enjoy that vacation!

Sorry for not posting much lately, I kinda forgot and I didnt think I had anything to add before yesterday.:blush:

I have been enjoying the game. It's been a lot of fun, with great photo's and a very interesting plot, and, of course, some of the best players here on EB. I'm just giving my views on how you could improve, that's all. you could y all means ignore them and continuee to do it your way, which has been working, by the way, or you could consider them and try to improve the game a little. I also fully understand I don't speak for everyone! I'm sure that others can say that they love the style your doing it in! Sorry to be a bother, but the more advice you get, the better you'll be at whatever you're doing!

Thanks mate, appreciated! I'm glad I can live! :cry_happy:

To the Brickmobile!

Honestly TheBrickster, How dare you provide three months of entertainment for us???? How inconsiderate!! :hmpf_bad:

(that was sarcasm)

The way you solved the issue with the barrel of fuel was exactly what I was talking about, TheBrickster, so thanks for that.

Anyway, you shouldn't get so defensive about the game. People wouldn't criticize the game or give suggestions how to improve it if they weren't enjoying it. If the players wouldn't enjoy the game, they would just leave, like you said.

So you can rest assured that the remaining players want to see this to the end and cheer you on all the way until that.

Thanks - but as a suggestion to all of you, cheers = (+) life points. (okay, just kidding, but I like to see you all enjoying rather than complaining) - but I'd like to see this to an end as well. Thanks for the feedback.

Even seeing as I'm not a character, this is the coolest game I've ever read, watched, and seen. :sweet:

I have no complaints.
