Jipay Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I just noticed that the mindstorm robot set disappeared from S@H france listing, aswell as from the catalogue. Does anyone know if this set has been cancelled ? Quote
Christian Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I've noticed this aswell, but Im pretty sure that they have only done it to prepare for the new one, to be released later this year. Quote
KimT Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 It's still up on the US S@H. I think they're releasing a new one this August. At least I was told so at LEGOWorld in Copenhagen by the Mindstorms Reps. Link Quote
CP5670 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I guess the new one will be just a minor update over the existing set, like the RIS 2.0 set was? Quote

fugglewyg Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 KimT - the still from that video looked really interesting so i gave it a watch. I have to say that i ended up quite dissapointed. The idea was great and most of the design was good but i think some of the mechanism needed a bit more work from the designer. There is nothing more dissapointing than seeing a great model that needs constant intervention to make it work. If it needs that much attention it probably isn't ready to go on display. It's the same with all the GBC modules, most are excellent but there always seems to be one that the owner is constantly poking, prodding and picking up footballs from. I am not suggesting for one minute that i could do any better but i think that it is such a shame that some of these fantastic designs are let down by this kind of thing. If i was not into lego and was walking round a show with my kids and they saw that model running they would both say that they don't really want a mindstorms set because it looks like it doesn't work properly. It just seems to show the product in a bad light in my opinion. Quote
KimT Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I agree. The video is a bit dissapointing. Let me say this though: It had been running constanly for 3 days and was rather worn down. I was there a day earlier to shoot the video, but my camera ran out of power and at that time the model was working perfectly. So it's a streak of bad luck that the video depicts this model as not working. The colour sensor was an awesome addition to the NXT. Quote
