Posted May 28, 200915 yr I just realized that because of the new Toy Story line our chances of a new Wild West line are either much lower or much higher. They would either be to similar and compete with each other or they could reintroduce some old molds for a new line. What do you think? At least they should have some nice parts for MOCing.
May 28, 200915 yr Isn't it going to be mainly Duplo? Or do we know exactly what we are going to be getting? With Cars, Prince of Persia and Toy Story. I don't see how they are going to make Bullseye without just using an ordinary brown horse unless he is Duplo.
May 28, 200915 yr Toy Story only has one character with a cowboy, it's not like it's a separate Western theme in itself, so I doubt that it would have any effect on the chances of that getting a theme. I think the biggest barriers are: 1) I doubt Lego would go for three 'historical' themes in one year - Castle, Pirates, Western 2) There are political problems with a Western theme - you couldn't possibly get away with having a 'Cowboys vs Indians' theme, with the latter as villains, and the vast majority of themes produced these days are faction-based.
May 28, 200915 yr I'm sorry, this is an absolutely silly theory based on a single character, as our colourful chef has noted. 2) There are political problems with a Western theme - you couldn't possibly get away with having a 'Cowboys vs Indians' theme, with the latter as villains, and the vast majority of themes produced these days are faction-based. I suppose that also kills my dream of an Alamo set.

May 28, 200915 yr Sadly Cars are Duplo only when Toy Story will be mixed. I think Cars built in a Creator Style would be awesome, and LEGO is really blowing it with that. LEGO loves their Racer theme, but it's really now a lame overdone theme, but Cars can bring it back to life.
May 28, 200915 yr About as much effect as it has on future space sets? While I don't think LEGO will likely bring back lines like WW or Ninja in the near future, I don't see the licence being a major issue here. It's not like Star Wars where the entire theme is space related. Even in the case of Star Wars LEGO has produced a couple of Space lines so I don't think there's much of an issue.
May 28, 200915 yr I hope in Toystory we will see new lasso mold, and maybe new cowboy hat mold (Jessie hat).Or even new horse mold! I think after TS sets we will get a western theme. Edited May 28, 200915 yr by Lordofdragonss
May 29, 200915 yr 2) There are political problems with a Western theme - you couldn't possibly get away with having a 'Cowboys vs Indians' theme, with the latter as villains, and the vast majority of themes produced these days are faction-based. But remember, the original Western Theme was not "Cowboys vs. Indians", it was "Cowboys vs. Bandits". I don't recall a set where Indians and Cowboys were included together, the Indians were always by themselves.

Good point, I never owned any of those sets so I'm not really familiar with how the factions were organised
May 29, 200915 yr From what I heard Cars would be Duplo but the others would not. No Idea how this will work though. The first movie has only one cowboy but in the second there are more. Yeah, I heard that there would be Duple and Lego for TS, with the Duplo coming out first. Has anyone even watched the movies? Haha! If they are making strictly Toy Story not Toy Story 2 then there will only be Woody as the cowboy. But if they made TS2 then there would be Woody, Jesse, and Prospector Pete (who is technically not a cowboy at all) I wonder if they will make Buzz like some of the older Space figs but with updated colours. He has wings, which I'm guessing would have to be a separate piece that can fit over the figs neck, like a back pack or cloak. I am very excited about this theme, but only if it is done right.
May 29, 200915 yr I suppose that also kills my dream of an Alamo set. I would only buy an Alamo set if it had a basement. Edited May 29, 200915 yr by computerbug
May 29, 200915 yr I don't really see how the Toy Story line that will be coming out in the future would affect a WW line. Toy Story has all of two cowboys/girls. While Woody is from the Wild West, the movies don't really have any WW setting. I honestly don't see any connections.
May 29, 200915 yr I really don't think it will affect the WW possible line at all. There is no "set" number of lines according to my knowledge.
May 29, 200915 yr Well, it acctually might have affect, since TS2 had Woody, Jessy, that Pete guy, and Bullseye. But it's a slight chance. Off topic: The Toystory 3 teaser has been released! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YF5c-LqRb-4...re=channel_page

May 29, 200915 yr Oh, duh! Silly me. You'd know what would be fuunny? If they had that Pete guy minifigure from the sccene the girl took him, and made it 'her own'.
May 29, 200915 yr With the Barbie? ... that would open a whole other can of worms... Then TLG would have to have an agreement with Mattel. Haha! Or they could just give Prospector Pete a double sided face, one normal and one with the hearts and crap all over it. Haha! Edited May 29, 200915 yr by Cutlass_Iz
May 30, 200915 yr I don't see how it could effect a future Western theme, I mean, the only characters that have anything to do with Cowboys are Woody and Bullseye. And Toy Story(And Toy Story 2) are both childrens' movies, so that's probably why they're going to be Duplo sets. Edited May 30, 200915 yr by Strikerâ„¢

May 30, 200915 yr The only way I could see this affecting future WW would be by including new parts, which is by no means harmful.
May 31, 200915 yr Thanks for the link to the Toy Story 3 trailer. June 2010 is too far away for a trailer to be released, though. That's one year away!
May 31, 200915 yr Thanks for the link to the Toy Story 3 trailer. June 2010 is too far away for a trailer to be released, though. That's one year away! That's why it wasn't a real trailer, but a short teaser. If you watched it, you would've seen that it didn't contain any scenes from the actual movies, just the characters introducing the logo. I kinda like Toy Story, although they're not really my favorite Disney movies. The whole world of toys is just so fascinating to me. I guess that's also the reason why I'm a LEGO fan.
