Peppermint_M Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I can't believe that I missed this topic for so long! I will try my level best to go. I will certainly be driving by then. as it's a weekend date my family's annual trip won't match up as we avoid summer and spring trips or special event days and weekends because of the crowds. I am afraid that my attendance might be easier if it is an event as my parents would go from "Dangers of the internet" lecture mode to "Oooh how nice!" (even though I'll be near enough to 22 in October 2010... *sigh* parents).
Quarryman Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 But where where you this year?? He's excused, he was busy working on finishing his degree. (next year he doesn't have that excuse though ) I am afraid that my attendance might be easier if it is an event as my parents would go from "Dangers of the internet" lecture mode to "Oooh how nice!" (even though I'll be near enough to 22 in October 2010... *sigh* parents). Moving out usually helps in that regard, but that brings a whole new set of problems of course. (and of course, a lot less money for LEGO )
Izzy Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Moving out usually helps in that regard, but that brings a whole new set of problems of course. (and of course, a lot less money for LEGO ) That is Soooo true. I tell everyone I know... As long as you are still in good terms with your parents stay until they kick you out. It is just WAY too expensive out here in the working mans world. Blerk! Don't do it I say! But do come to Windsor. We can all unite in weird internet meetingness.
Morten Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I would love to see the windsor LEGOLand, and if the main event is in Billund spring 2010 i might join an event in windsor in the fall. On the other hand, there is a change that the main event spring 2011 would be in windsor too (there has only been one event in windsor and that was 2006 i think). So i quess it depends on where the main event spring 2011 will be? Morten

It has been decided that I can go, as long as my little Lego-maniac brother can tag along with me. So now I have to achieve my goal of learning to drive before I am 21.
Izzy Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Is it possible to hava a small event the 16-18/10 maybe?-Ras- I think that the weekend before (the 9th/10th October) would be better for us, as we will be in London all that week and hopefully leaving (start heading North) after that weekend. So we would be probably somewhere in Wales by the 18th. It is still sooo far away but that is what the idea is for us at the moment.
Bartram Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I think I might be able to attend, but what with schooling and all that, it might be difficult for me to get over there. I live in BC, by the way. Hope I can make the event, though.
jof Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Better late than never: I can recommend the fireworks - they are quite good, as long as its not tipping it down with rain. Pick a brick is not that great & is very over priced in my opinion (£4.50 per 100g) Contents can be variable too. Occasionally get some interesting parts, but not often - mostly standard bricks that are cheaper to get from creator sets. We don't have the discount 'Tent' that we used to have, however we have a discount outlet in the building at the top by Lego Racers. There have been a few good items in there (a couple of which I regretted not getting when I saw them), but nothing of any note for at least the past 3 months. I think the good stuff tends to be the outgoing sets left over from last year & best stuff is gone within a couple of weeks of spring opening. Sometimes they sell off a cheap version of pick a brick, but gone are the glory days of the 'discount tent £1 per 100g random bags. It seems to be priced at £2.70 per 100g and looks like its just a couple of buckets of left over stuff.
Burf2000 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I be up for going, i live near and have an annual pass I am going this sunday if anyone is up for it
Izzy Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Due to reasons beyond my control I have to withdraw my participation from this event. (I will no longer be in the UK in October 2010 at all) I am really sorry, and so very sad that I will be missing out on all the fun. Here's hoping a AUS event will happen soon. Cheers, IZ
YG-49 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Here's hoping a AUS event will happen soon. AUS event ON!

Izzy Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 That is really sad to hear Iz, i hope all is well? Thanks CBH, All is not well but it is a very long story. Maybe one day in the future I will be able to join all you crazy AFOLs on your side of the world. But until then I shall try to stay active on here and keep building. Cheers, IZ
Peppermint_M Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I will most certainly make my very best effort to come, along with little brother no.3 (who will be 9) and such. Too bad we won't be able to say 'lo to you Iz.
Ras 74 Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 Have not been reading this thread for some time. Sorry for that all! Sorry to hear that you can´t make it anymore. Really hope what ever happend, that you will be ok. Hope that you not will disapear totally again from our website. All the best Iz. So we can totally still do this if the interest is still on. Otherwise, we prospond this to 2011, when the Event will be located in the U.K. anyway. Any thoughts on this?

Postponing sounds good to me, but I wouldn't mind going to the UK next fall too.. guess it depends on what others want On the other hand, everyone that was planning to come to the Special Event in Windsor could come to Billund for the regular Event instead. Question is though.. Special Event in Malaysia in 2013?
Burf2000 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Why move it? there are loads of UK lego people near the area, be well worth it
Izzy Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 On the other hand, everyone that was planning to come to the Special Event in Windsor could come to Billund for the regular Event instead. I like that idea, what are the dates of the Billund event? If I'm really selfish and put aside money for just me and not Amelie's education I can get the $2,000+ for flights... maybe??? In my dreams.
Ras 74 Posted September 23, 2009 Author Posted September 23, 2009 Hmmm... Iz, would be fun and you will not regreat it. At least not then, maybe later on when Amelie will start her education. I know there are several U.K. members that would love to make a special event in the fall. I was just saying what do you think about moving it to the spring? A lot that will come to Billund event will not attend 2 events, and there will not be any specials. Those are for the "official events" only. I vote my self to prospond it half a year. Next time it will be a U.K. event for sure. And the events in Billund has always been best. More non-park things that we might see and get. But lets keep this rolling...
Peppermint_M Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 I'm cool for any time of year, as long as it is in the UK, I don't think I would ever be forgiven if my little brother couldn't come along. 2011 would give me some more time to get the space for larger MOCs to be built that I can bring along. I certainly don't mind a postponment.
Ras 74 Posted November 20, 2009 Author Posted November 20, 2009 That is good Peppermint_M! So the unoffical Event in Windsor next fall in October is now off. Sorr y to get some hopes up for this. However I hope that our English friends will come in hords to the 2011 edition of the Eurobricks Event.

I think i'll close this up for now, we can always reopen or make a new one when there's a new date proposed.
