Posted May 28, 200915 yr http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/4592 i find it quite annoying that this part always falls off my 2009 models the tolerance seems too loose? I'm guessing lego must have invested in a new molding tool for this piece anyone else noticed the same, i've also noticed that lego men don't tightly connect with lego car seats anymore, anyone having these issues? Paul
May 28, 200915 yr Not your issues, but sometimes it seems that helmets have a little "wiggle room" (side-to-side).

May 28, 200915 yr I started noticing these parts (4592) being loose in 2008. The old ones seemed too tight to me (I always had trouble positioning them just right), but the new ones are much looser. I guess they overcorrected when they made the new mold. Edited May 28, 200915 yr by soc399

May 29, 200915 yr Are only the 2009 versions doing this? That particular piece has traditionally had a very strong grip and can be fairly difficult to remove from some pieces, although I think the ones from the last year or two have been better.
May 29, 200915 yr I would rather have this problem then the older one, it used to be that you couldn't rotate the piece when it was on a stud.

Paul Yes, I've noticed both these problems. The antenna on Robo Attack are very loose, and I have noticed it on other 09 sets. Minifig legs also don't stay on chairs very well - the clones popping off like hot popcorn from the AT-OT is the most irritating manifestation of this - but is this a problem with chairs or the legs, as the latter seem to stick fine to normal studded areas?

I've had both problems as well, and I'm thinking the chair issue is because of the actual studs on top of the chair. At first I thought it was because of the legs as well, but I tested the legs on an older chair and they were fine. Quite annoying, I thought it was just my particular bad luck but I guess not.
May 29, 200915 yr Well if this seems to be an ongoing problem with the aerial piece, perhaps some one should post it here in the Embassy, and Copmike may be able to find out a thing or two for us.
May 29, 200915 yr I actually think they're getting stronger. I've recently bent a couple of the levers in trying to remove the base, whilst the old grey ones that I bought new off Bricklink recently have a looser grip... What I have noticed is that the lever itself doesn't have much grip inside the base, and flops around, and partially comes out sometimes.

Paul Yeah, that´s happened to me, too. The first time I noticed it was in the 2008 IJ sets, however I actually think the looser ones are way better. The "old" ones are way too hard to remove, these are just fine. The same with the seats, I think it´s better now. I haven´t had any bad experience with my new Yoda heads, they are really good and stick to the torso as good as a normal minifig head. However I have noticed that the normal heads in the new (SW) magnet packs are really hard to get off the torsos.
May 30, 200915 yr Author I picked up the red sports car at legoland last week and the new town square with the bus and this is where I really noticed the aerial and seat issues. Paul
May 30, 200915 yr Yeah, I've also noticed that the aerials are definetly very loose now. It's a real problem when I sit a minifig into a vehicle, and the simple act of pushing the control lever into his hand is enough to pop the aerial base loose. The old ones were too tight, and I agree they are probably overcompensating with the new mould. I think a better solution would have been to add a simple groove to the base (much like how classic tiles are sharp edged but modern ones have a groove to help with prying them loose). And even having the old ones too tight didn't bother me much, one solution is to simply put a 1*1 round plate under them so they can be rotated more easily.
