June 10, 200915 yr Nice review, but I dont like these kind of sets, its a waste of money. its not minifig scale and it doesent have that much room. Sorry to disagree with you General, but it would be impractical for lego to build a mini-fig scale model, because it would be HUGE!! I think Lego is doing fine with the large capital ships its got. they are merely trying to recreate the model, and then put in stuff. The only time these ships look awkward is when they are posed with other, smaller starships like Interceptors. And of course, the glory of Lego is that you can mod your sets to fit your tastes. If you want to change your ships into troop transports, remove the boardroom interior and replace it with a weapons holder. Its not that hard. I myself am building a model of a Venator, and I think the interior is quite roomy, meeting room removed.
June 13, 200915 yr Sorry to disagree with you General, but it would be impractical for lego to build a mini-fig scale model, because it would be HUGE!! Haha, yeah, considering that the Tantive 4 is this big in true minifig scale, a Venator would be humongous! But the General is making a point. What good is a "minifig-scale" Venator if it isn't big enough to have a decent interior and looks like crap from the outside? That's why this is a below average set at best. The only things that save it from being completely poor are the 2-3 new minifigs and the fact that it is a passable Venator. I'll still be getting it, though, even if only to get the parts to make my own Venator MOC. And I'm sorry to agree with some people here, Bricks, but this review wasn't exactly impressive. You barely showed us anything we haven't seen before in Toy Fair pics and vids. You didn't even show us a picture of the exerted cockpit. It's OK, though. Just try to be a little more in-depth next time.
June 19, 200915 yr Finally got my Venator Like everyone else when the set was first announched I was hoping for something the size of the 2006 ISD - but better built and with a detailed interior Now I have the set though - alot of the disappointment has passed This is surprisingly show accurate, very well designed and certainly an impresive display piece Its £20 more than it should be - but the price is really all I have to complain about now

I would have to agree. To what?
June 22, 200915 yr Like everyone else when the set was first announched I was hoping for something the size of the 2006 ISD - but better built and with a detailed interiorNow I have the set though - alot of the disappointment has passed This is surprisingly show accurate, very well designed and certainly an impresive display piece Its £20 more than it should be - but the price is really all I have to complain about now I share those sentiments. The great thing about this set is that it's rock solid. The handle is a fantastic feature and unlike the ISD you don't have to worry about bits of the exoskeleton popping off. It really is swooshable. For that reason, I don't even mind that it's smaller. The overall shape is great and it looks impressive. As has been pointed out, if you don't like the interior, there is plenty of capability for modding - take out the gun section and the bomber compartment (I find this the weakest element anyway as the bombs get stuck) and you can easily build your own interior - either into the ship itself or as removable modules.
November 25, 200915 yr Just finished building this set and its awesome. Only complaint is that palpentine's room is so small and cramped and the high pricing.
November 25, 200915 yr This set was a disappointment for me. Could have been executed better, and I know TLG has all sorts of problems when turning capital ships into system scale. Some come out rather well (Republic Cruiser), but others like this just suffer. Not Lego's fault, just that the ship's design doesn't lend very well to minifig scale. The shape and size just don't work. There was no way they could have designed the distinctive pointed triangular shape and sitll made it fun. Hence, I REALLY hate the interior of this ship. It's cramped, ugly, has supporting structure all over the place, has large gaping holes etc.
November 26, 200915 yr Great Review Bricks! This was a nice set, just the only problem was that it was slightly out of scale. The design is accurate though. Great job! CommanderFox
November 30, 200915 yr I was really looking forward to this set but a big let down for me. I was looking I guess for something more along the lines of UCS but the only way I will get this is if it goes on sale on a black friday for under 75$. It just looks like a deformed space ship to me.
