JCC1004 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I have a old DeLorean that I boought awhile back. My gradma wanted me to do that cash for clunkers! You can only get up to 4500. The new cars have no stlye and are so boring. The classics have tons of style. I wanted a 55 Chevy nomad as a kid. Quote

Personally, I like them better than Nomads, though both of them are nice. Quote
Joey Lock Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Jaguar can be good saloons but that's it. They've never been portrayed as good sports cars. I think they are way over rated.Just look at the Merc SLS, now that's something ! Its not all about Sport or speed. Especially not with Jag. You could get a good Jag with DVD in the backseats, brilliant working V8 for £6000 on Autotrader. You can get a good Merc for say about £10-60k on Autotrader. So theres a big price range compared. I mean are you really saying that this isn't one of the greatest looking cars ever produced?: Quote

Are you kidding? No way in hell am I getting rid of my Delorean for some crappy new car. Like I said I think the new cars are very boring. The classics have class. Thats why their called classics. My granny is a little messed up. She's worried I'll turn it into a time machine to get old Lego sets! She's that type who wants to fit in and wants you do thing's how she'd do them. Kind of the same with my grandmother (Mother's mother), extremely paranoid and does things that make absolutely zero sense at all.And I completely agree; There are very few new cars that I like at all. I'm all about the classics, and really want a 1971 DeTomaso Pantera, or a 70's-80's Trans Am, as far as what cars I want to drive. For trucks, I really want a 1920's-1930's Ford Stepside Pickup, if I can find one in good drivable condition at a reasonable price. Quote
The Who Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 My dad is, extremely slowly, restoring a 1969 Mustang fastback. We got it years ago because the previous owner no longer needed it for Drag Racing. I'll try to post a pic of it soon, if I can.Sorry to double post, but this is the Mustang. Before anybody asks, he did mess up on the paint and will redo the entire paintjob sooner or later. Quote

My dad fixed some little things up. It runs really nice. It's hard to find a driveable and good conditioned one at a good price. I was just joking by saying she's worried about me turning it into a time machine to get old Lego sets. You know about those new cars with 3 wheels right? They're ugly. No room for stuff(Lego) and only two seats. I'm keping that Delorean, it have nice paint too. my grandmother (Mother's mother) What are you meaning by that? Quote

Very cool. 69' was the last year before the body was butchered before it 79' when the first "Fox Body" mustang appeared. What are your plans for this one? YOu guys going all original,or planning to make touring type cruiser,or going for a track car? I too love old classic American muscle cars. I'd love to have a 69' Camaro SS. With the Rally sport hidden headlights and grill. A 70' Chevelle SS 454 would be nice too. There's nothing like the feels and sound of an old school American Muscle car with a Big block, carburated V8. Quote

We don't want it 100% original, because of some technology updates and whatnot, so it will just be mostly original. We do plan on driving it often, so it's not just going to be a 'Showroom' car that ends up parked most of the time.I would also love to have a 69' Camaro, but they can get a little expensive. Quote

Ak-47 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Did anyone go to Pebble Beach or the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca? I did. There was 2 Buggati's (sp?) there, along with about 50 ferraris, 25 Aston's, and since Porsche was the mark this year, like 2 billion of them, including my dads. And that was just the parking lot. As you got past the "Posh" part of Croydon there is a Dealership with 2 Bugattis in the window, a Ferrari F430, a Enzo and some Aston Martin DBS, Lambourghini Gallardo, Porsche Carrera GT (I don't really like Porsches, there for people who think they are posh). It would be terrific to own that dealership, But its mostly for show, the main cars they sell are BMWs, Mercs and Audis. Quote
prateek Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 There's a dealer not far from my house that has a lot of different sports and luxury cars. They always change though, one day you see a Gallardo, the next day, it's gone. I saw an old Rolls-Royce there once, my dad is thinking to buy it. Quote

Ya, the historic races a cool. Lot of cool cars that have alot of history. Last time i went to Monterey they just happened to have run across a pre auction they were having on cannery row. They had a bunch of Ferrari's, Classic sports cars,Muscle cars, and even a Maserati MC12(I Think that's what it was) Its the car that's based on the Enzo chassis. Porsche Carrera GT (I don't really like Porsches, there for people who think they are posh). Ya Porsche's really aren't all that exclusive anymore to be considered anything special. There are a few exceptions such as the GT3, there V10 super car (please forgive me, the name escapes me) and 911 Turbo. Quote

-JD- Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I agree with prateek, but I would much rather have the Lambo in his sig. Anyways, my dad has a Scenic. A good car, but we need the sunroof version. It gets annoying looking at the plain roof... Quote

prateek Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 You look at the roof in the car? Does it have no windows? That would be funny if it didn't. BTW, Sunroofs aren't to look out of, they are to let light and wind and smells into your car. I especially like to open the sunroof in Downtown, to let in the busy atmosphere in. Quote
Joey Lock Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I found a 2006 Volkswagen Phaeton for £12,000! It looks amazing, Hopefully my dad will be thinking of buying a new car soon. I almost traded my car in for a W12 Phaeton, the price was right at 17,000$ but it was out of warranty and the Phaeton is a very very very expensive car to maintain. Quote
