Modulex Guy Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I absolutely hate crossovers like the CX-7 and the Dodge Journey. Quite frankly, I think they're just a load of crap, and if you own one you must be slightly insane. GET A REAL 4WD, or get a car. If you want a 4WD that looks like a car, then get a Subaru. A proper 4WD is the Toyota Landcruiser 70s series.I'd like to get one too. Maybe a ute or troop carrier. Sorry just venting my anger on these wastes of metal. Oh, do any of you in a country other than Australia know what a Holden is, or is it a Vauxhall? A Blast from the Past! Loook at it, because its the ultimate off-roader, or in my eyes anyway. I would absolutely love to have a Toyota Land Cruiser like that! Or a Holden Maloo: You Aussies get all the cool pickups and utes. Quote
CloneCommanderDelta7 Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 (edited) I know! They are thinking of banning 4WDs from shopping centres and school carparks. What if you're from the country or something like that and you want some respectable vehicle to drive in. Thinking about my circumstances in a few years, I might buy a Landcruiser 70s Troopy (just like a van for motocrossers) or ute. Thinking of others, if you have 7 children and want to go to the shops or school, what would you rather drive in: Toyota Tarago or a nice-looking, but respectable Pajero Which would you drive? Be honest, tell the QLD government (Australian State for those who don't know) what is right and what is too far. P.S. Ford Falcon Ute. IMHO is better than any Holden. or blow your hard-earned cash on one of these awesome vehicles. (not me in the photo btw) Edited November 3, 2009 by CloneCommanderDelta7 Quote
Big Cam Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Banning 4wd from shopping centers??? That's almost like rqacism but with cars, that's ridiculous. What if it's your only vehicle. I really don't see how that could ever pass to law. Quote

It's not like they Make more noise or make tire marks all over the road or anything. BTW, we need some of those Utes in Canada! Edited November 4, 2009 by prateek Quote

I know, as my first vehicle choice would be a Toyota Landcruiser 70s Troopy. I think it is just vehicles that are higher than normal, because you can't really see over them. I heard it in the paper, but I doubt it will get past the senate. Gotta love QLD, bloody stuffed government. Our Premier is Ms 30%. Lower than normal, . prateek, I would love to have a go at snocross, so we are kinda even Edited November 4, 2009 by CloneCommanderDelta7 Quote
Jipay Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 They can't ban 4WD vehicules, but they surely can limit the heigh of vehicules. It's a common practice in most european countries. And since most W4D are are big tall vehicules, they can't park. Quote

CloneCommanderDelta7 Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Now that makes sense. Sorry to confuse you all, but that is what we call big blocky vehicles that have bad turning circles (sounds like Lego ) around here (or there). To other news, look at this weird concept. Toyota plans to combine video games and the real world. I guess if you are stuck in traffic... http://www.flickr.com/photos/toyotausa/4072896764/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/toyotausa/4072135943/ But still, who are they kidding!?! It is the stupidest idea ever to occur to anyone (almost). Who would buy it? Quote

It is the stupidest idea ever to occur to anyone (almost). Who would buy it? That's simply a concept car for the SEMA show, they do it every year. They make over the top vehicles with tons of useless electronics, just to show that they can. I've been to car shows for years and the same thing happens every year. A vehicle like that with a huge tv outside would never be produced, I can guarantee you that. Quote

You can't combine video games with reality, and I'd choose reality. It looks like no one apart from Toyota just can't make a good 4WD car anymore. Excluding the Tritons, BT-50s and the Navadas, (all commercial utes) the only rough-&-tough 4 by 4 is a Land Cruiser 70s. Quote

I think it's the best concept I've seen this year It's not that I don't liek it, I just know how ridiculously impractical this set up is. How pften are you going to stand behind your truck and play a video game?? Probably never, SEMA is partially a showcase for new products and compaines ability to do crazy stuff. Quote
Milan Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 (edited) That thing will never be produced, at least with that screen size...as Cam said...impractical. Even the 30 feet RVs doesn't have exterior screens that size. I have seen big screens, but only in concept car like this: This is some kind of urban mobile fortress, with only big screen at the back, no windows, camera at the roof provide real time video! On the picture here, back door is open and you can see big screen. Here doors are closed: Edited November 5, 2009 by Milan Quote
Big Cam Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 LOL, ^^^^^^^^ Also ridiculous but kind of cool, looks alot like the Nissan Cube. I dig the saffe handle for the back. Quote
Milan Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 This is supposed to be something like safehouse in urban environment. On the press of a button, all of the windows are covered with thick shields, something like betmobile... And in that mode, inside is like a big can, but you can see everything outside on the screens inside, Quote

I'm saying that it's a good concept, not that it is practical. And anyway, it'll be cool to have at a party. It's just an extreme version of most of the Pimp My Ride cars. Quote
CloneCommanderDelta7 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Toyota has come up with a replacement for its awesome Celica. That was some car (and still is). The FT-86. It sounds like the BT-50 but sportier. It is leaner, meaner and supposedly greener? Okay, it has a huge grill, menacing headlights and one helluva bonnet. That's saying something too. Great alloy wheels and a funny-looking side mirror, what has Toyota done. http://www.autoguide.com/gallery/d/96623-4...ncept-press.jpg Well it is a concept, but Toyota has shown the fact that they feel the need for speed...in the form of a new sports model. They made it quite clear. The Toyota Celica; the FT-86 has a lot to live up to. Quote

prateek Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 That looks awesome. It looks like the Hyundai Genesis Coupe has some competition Quote
5150 Lego Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Why? You can't combine video games with reality, and I'd choose reality. The point of vehicles like this are for pure show. Like Big Cam said, they serve no practical purpose. Only to show off the companies vehicle, and the talent of of the builder. In this case, someone might not want a 50" TV screen in there vehicle, but figure.. "hey, if they can handle that kind of an install, then they should be able to hook up my car with a couple of head rest monitors and sub woofers no problem!" Hence, getting the company that install the equipment business, and showing off the vehicle suppliers newest vehicles. So in a sense, a car like this is a reality, just not for the masses. It looks like no one apart from Toyota just can't make a good 4WD car anymore. Excluding the Tritons, BT-50s and the Navadas, (all commercial utes) the only rough-&-tough 4 by 4 is a Land Cruiser 70s. While not as hard core as the 70 series Land cruiser, my Toyota FJ Cruiser does fantastic off road. These are old picks. I've changed a few things since then. 4WD, ATRAC traction control (kind of like a limited slip differential for the front), locking rear differential, 3" lift, and 33" (currently) toyo Mud terrain tires. Works great in all types of terrain! I'm saying that it's a good concept, not that it is practical. And anyway, it'll be cool to have at a party. It's just an extreme version of most of the Pimp My Ride cars. Again, its not really a concept car. Just a "show car" built for the Sema Show. My neighbor used to have one and I couldn't help looking at it all the time. ... That car has to have RWD to compete with the Genesis Coupe. As for the engine they should at least put a 3.5L engine putting out at least 250 bhp. Edited November 7, 2009 by prateek Quote
Jipay Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I almost wet my pants seing you guys thinking this toyota would be powered by a V8 engine. This car is a collaboration between subaru and toyota, it's powered by Subaru's 2.0-litre boxer engine, which puts out 146bhp in current production form. 146 bhp. What a blast. Some fords are more powerfull. It seems they'll upgrade the engine a bit for this coupe, but let's be realistic, you can't get much more than 250 bhp from a 2.0 litres four pots engine. Still excited ? Quote
Milan Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Still excited ? I am exited just by looking at these 33'' tires... Quote
