I had those same thoughts when I was younger...even though I'm still just 19 I no longer think those funky mods are cool.

I used to think the giant spoiler, "coffee can" muffler, Lambo doors, decals, body kits, huge monitors, wild interiors, etc. were the hottest things on the planet.

Fast & Furious Yo.

I still do buy mods for my car, but they are sensible that can be taken off, just performance mods, and just bolt-ons. Because If I were to sell my car, I can take those off, convert my car to stock, sell the car, and sell the parts separate.

Well Im not into spoilers, big rims, decals and racing stripes. I understand as you say I will regret putting them on, but the ignorant side of my brain is saying "Ignore them! Do what you want!" however I understand you guys have experiance. But I don't want to completely throw away the idea of getting suicide doors. I mean, planning stuff I wanna buy, like many other young people is a nice thing that keeps me busy and prepared but judging by all the hassle it sounds like its going to take I might as well give up all my ideas! :cry_sad:

I hate people who put Games consoles in their car, When will you use them?! But I just wanted the suicide doors because they looked classy, refined and snazzy! I want my car to look luxurious and well "buisnessman" like. With just plain beige leather, walnut burl dash kit, some tinted back windows e.t.c. No spoilers, body kits, nitrous. Although they seem like the cheap and easy things to do. No car but the Maybach and Rolls Royce Phantom has the suicide doors and well, there not cheap.

It's not a impossible job though is it? I understand that buy the time I am twenty it will be 2014 and we will probably have to drive electric cars knowing the so called "Energy Crisis!!!" But I am never going to be seen driving a Toyota Prius...

But I will always like the Chrysler because its so customisable. I said to my friend what do you class as luxury in a car and I said "Do you like smooth wood?" "No." "Why?" "Dunno, it looks old" "So what do you like then, eh? Carbon Fiber body plates" "Mabye, I like Metal, lights, gadgets." "That's not luxury!!" He calls me the James May Junior, I have hair like him too!

Now I don't like too much wood, just polished "fake" wood, such as the Walnut Burl dash kit you can get:

Chrysler300c.png

Also some beige interior to go with it and some nice lights, chrome and black exterior e.t.c.

So what do you class as Luxury in a car?

The new Range Rover with the new sat. nav. and cameras

I hate Range Rovers, or specifically people with them. Range Rovers of old where to supposed to be farmers cars, holiday cars. Now there just "Bling Bling cars" or "Mums cars". Why?! :cry_sad:

You go London, I bet you, you will see at least one Range Rover with a woman driving to work in and you will see someone with a Porsche Cayenne who has a buisness suit on. If you are driving to work in a office, you don't need a big 4x4, just get a small car or a "Buisnessman" car e.g. Volkswagen Passat, Volvo c70, Lexus GS e.t.c.

Chances are for $10,000 your not going to have a hemi or anything number matching. A hemi engine alone is worth around 10-15K none running. But even so, 10,000 should get you a faily decent cuda!
I was thinking that, and one could only hope that he has absolutely no idea what he's talking about, or how much it is worth. Edited by The Who

You could always just paint a Hemi logo on it

No ones saying you should give up on your ideas, but you should understand what your getting into. While not impossible, is not an easy task and requires alot of time and experiance. The last thing you want to do is spend money on parts thinking its a simple installation when in fact its the complete opisite.

Game consoles in cars are generaly for show cars. Just another thing to give them points at car shows. But in some instances they are installed for function. My boss has a Play Station 2 installed in his chevy Tahoe for his kids to play on long trips. He travels to vist family several times a year and it helps to keep his kids ocupied for 4+ hour long trips. Personaly, i think its a bit much, but its hard to arugue when the kids are at bay!

Also, if you think that adding suicide door will bring you closer to the status of a Phantom or Maybach, your sadly mistaken.

So what do you class as Luxury in a car?

GPS navigation, leather interior, quality interior pieces (real wood, bushed aluminum that built into the dash/interior panels, not the stick kits pictured) heated/air conditioned seats, dual climate controls.... Basicly anything thats considered a "luxury item". But the real key is having all the these things built with quality in mind. Thats why cars such as Mercadez, BMW, AUDI etc are considered right off the bat as luxury because there known for there quality.

I hate Range Rovers, or specifically people with them. Range Rovers of old where to supposed to be farmers cars, holiday cars. Now there just "Bling Bling cars" or "Mums cars". Why?! :cry_sad:

Because thats what the market is dictating. And just so you know, land Rover hasn't forgoten there roots. They still build the Defender 110 and 90 that are extremly off road capable rigs.

Ever think that that buisness man might have a family? Or likes to take trips on the weekend? Maybe to the snow? Or maybe there buisness might have a need for a 4x4 or SUV? But to be perfectly honest, one doesn't need a real "reason". Its thier money, and there for thier "buisness" what they spend it on. Just because you are in a certain profession does not mean you should have to drive a certain type of vehicle.

You could always just paint a Hemi logo on it

Thats the worse thing you can do. Cause when you pop the hood to show off the engine, your going to look like an idiot when it doesn't have a hemi. There's no need to make claims of having something you don't.

Im not stupid, Ive done my reasearch way before I chose this car.

Having a look at some WIP pictures it does look like a complicated job:

This WIP looks easierly fitted:

Which is more likely to be the Autoloc style?

Posted

Niether one of those is eaiser to install. Either way it will involve the same level of fabrication. The difference is the first pic. is of a job thats closer to being finished.

SuicideDoors2.JPG

Not the panels welded in around the hinge. Now look at the second car..

12161d1137537760-300c-suicide-doors-brampton-suicider90.jpg

Notice that the area around the hinge isn't filled in. It looks less complicated because its not finished. Alot of the detail work still needs to be completed.

Is their a reason you want this autoloc kit? my sugjestion would be to go with a high quality kit and not one based on "ease" of installation. Caue no matter what kit you get, there's going to be heavy fabrication needed to mount them and make everything look, and function like factory.

Autloc is the most often Chrysler 300c Suicide door kit. I don't know any others or what there like.

One of the main reasons why only super expensive cars have suicide doors is because it makes it easier for the chauffeur to exit and open the door for the passenger.

Unless you plan on hiring a driver, adding suicide doors on a Chrysler is, frankly, lame.

SO just out of curiosity and boredum, i'm curious what the EB community things of wagons, particularily the Subaru WRX STi. I'm well past my ricer stage where I want a loud exhausrt and lots of mostly useless aftermarket parts, and I have been for quite some time.

So being that I live in the Northern part of the US, we gets lots of snow, and I want a new sport car but I don't want to loose the functionality of my current hatchback, a 2002 Acura RSX.

I've loved Subaru's for as long as I can remember and lots of people tell me the latest STi looks bad since it's a wagon, so what do you guys think?

MPG is not a concern for me, it can get 15MPG as long as it's fun to drive, I personally love the look of it and I love turbo cars, so please refrain from telling me I'll hate turbo lag.

And for the record, I'm still getting one regardless of what the results are here.

300 BHP, 300 ft/lbs torque, AWD, adjustable Center Diff, and lots of comfy room.

I do love the new STI's but the one thing that bugs me is those clear tail lights, not really my taste at all, but I've seen guys do a red decal mask over them and it looks fantastic, I would love to get the STI especially for these brutal Chicago winters we have.

Ahh, I agree, they are not my personal favorite, but I do like that they come with factory LED tailights, you just can't beat the instant on/off look of LED's, as well as their brightnes.

I visit Chicago about once every 2 years or so, you guys get it bad like us sometimes, I can feel your pain.

Here are the better masked taillights:

sti_01.jpg

Its just a red film over the stock lights.

Much better IMO.

Absolutely, 100% better, is there a site that sells those?? I actually want to bookmark it so I can get some when I get mine in a year or so.

Those are pretty much custom made by the person who owns the car.

You just need to go to a vinyl graphics shop and buy some squares of transparent red film and cut them yourself or have them put them on.

It also depends on how you want it cut, some do the tails solid red, or cut out the reverse lights as the photo I posted above, or cut a bit more out for the turn signals also.

This is a ten minute job for a high quality vinyl shop.

All red:

Bought a car today! Its a 1999 Subaru Liberty (Legacy, for those non-aussies). Its a Bilstein RX model

Congratulations! :classic:

Maybe take some pics and show us your new "ride"!

So, guys, after searching eBay for a couple of months, and missing two auctions; one for $30.00 USD, and for, you guessed it! $250.00 USD! I've finally tracked down that model 5150 lego told me about for that Mercedes M-Class from The Lost World, and I think if I keep it low on activity like it is, at the last minute, I'll put in like $15.00 USD and maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to snag that darn model once and for all!

Here's a link to the eBay page.

The highest I'm willing to pay is $25.00 USD, not including shipping.

You guys think I should nab it?

These cars are just madness; this would be the '98 version of the ML-320, like the one used in the film...

Blackml55.JPG

And this would be, I believe, a modern one.

My dream car right now is the 2009 ML-350!

Congrats DB24!

@ Big Cam: I like the new STI. It's really cool looking, and IMO, it's better than the old one. BTW what colour are you getting?

Well, I was only a little bit right about that, it turned out to be a 1972 Dodge Challenger, which is practically the exact same car. I still wanted it. When I said less than 10,000, that mean't it could have been anywhere between $2,000 and $8,000, until he confirmed it.
He wasn't reffering to you, but the guy that he might be buying the Cuda from.
Right.

The day before we called the guy, he just had to go and list it on Craigslist, saying "Runs great, decent body with almost no rust, $5,000 OBO and must sell this week." We called him the next day, and he already sold it. I wanted to cry. :cry_sad:

World Rally Blue Mica with Gold Rims, the only way to go. :vader:
