The Legonater Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Does anybody where I can find a DeLorean for sale in Manitboa? I've been looking everywhere for one. Quote
prateek Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 There probably aren't any Deloreans in Manitoba, since it is a relatively empty province. Here's one in Thunder Bay, which is close to Manitoba Quote
The Who Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Thanks you guys. I love that's it's basically all original, even with AC. Here's one picture, there's a couple more in This gallery. I'll see if I can take one with the hood up soon. It's a 351-2v (Maybe 4v?) Cleveland engine in it. BTW, how much did you get it for?$8,500 USD.Most likely we'd be looking for a late 30's early 40's pickup cab and start from there.I'd love to roll around in something like this in a few years: <snip> That would be pretty nice. Personally, I like Rat Rods that are in good condition, but still maintain that style without all of the rust. Quote
prateek Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 That's really cool! You'll get all the ladies now Quote

posades Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Thought I'd revive this old thread. Earlier I was considering buying a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, but the more I researched and thought about it, the more I began to wonder if spending that much money was really worth it for a Hyundai. In the end I didn't go the Genesis route, and instead bought this: It's a 2007 BMW 328i Coupe. For cheaper than the Hyundai ($20k as opposed to $25k), I was able to get a car I dreamed of getting but never really thought possible. Sure it's not perfect inside (that's what happens when you buy used I guess), but I thought it was still a good deal considering it has 37k miles and with the factory warranty still intact. Haven't gotten around to driving it much, but believe me I will. What do you guys think? Quote
prateek Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) Wow, congrats! That's a great deal you got for $20,000. It's much better than a Genesis. Just a question, but does your Bimmer take premium? Edited July 13, 2010 by prateek Quote

Well right now I'm using middle grade Chevron gas, and I haven't noticed any difference (albeit this is my first time filling up). It's not like I take it to the track or anything, so I'm assuming this would be good enough for my situation. Does anyone know if this is bad? Quote
Marckeyh Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I used to own this car, 400bhp 1993 toyota supra, 3.0 twin turbo. But I sold it as it got vanadalised often :( Quote
Modulex Guy Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I just got a letter from my dealer with some interesting and tempting offers to trade in my car. I'm going to the dealer today or tomorrow to test drive a new VW CC 2.0T to see how I like it or not. Although I'm probably not going to get it since they do not have the one I want in inventory, the VR6 4Motion. We'll see though. Pic of the car: Quote
Munkay Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I just got a letter from my dealer with some interesting and tempting offers to trade in my car. My Uncle gets those all the time from Toyota. Just be aware that for the most part those are just gimicks to get you to come in the dealer. The "deals" that many promise all of a sudden change due to credit scores, current inventory, trade in, etc. Either way, good luck. Hopefully you find the car your looking for. Quote

I am fully aware of those letters with the fine print, this one was a bit different, It was a "top dollar trade in" letter also with VW's own "Autobahn for all 0% financing for 5 years" deal, plus it help to have a good relationship with the dealer since they do most of the service and tuning on my car. I was at the dealer last night and drove the CC, all I could say is the car is amazing/flawless/awesome, though I do not think I'm ready to jump the gun on this car yet since I love my current car too much and the CC is quite pricy with the VR6 4Mo. Those are exactly the ones I'm taking about. Regardless of some letter, the dealer should be giving you top dollar. And the 0% is only if you qualify. In this economy, Unless you have a 730+ credit score, you can forget the 0% finance. And even then, it all depends on what your income is, as well as what vehicle you plan to buy. Now I'm not in any way saying you don't make good money. You could bring in over $100,000 a year for all i know. But there is always "fine print" with these dealer letters. Its one thing if rebates are offered from the manufacturer on certain new vehicles. these are offers set. But 'top dollar" tades, as well as "special financing" are all variables in the sale that are not guaranteed. There designed to get you in the dealer, find a vehicle that you can afford, (vs. one you really want) and make the sale. My family has worked at dealers (both in sales and service) for the last 15 yrs or so. And while it might help, i can tell you, you don't need to purchase from a certain dealer to have a good relationship with them. If anything, they will always prefer to have your service business as thats were dealers make there money. The Passat CC is nice no doubt, but a bit over priced. Are they giving you a good deal? I know VW had huge rebates a couple months back, but wasn't sure if the CC was included in them. Quote

They (the banks) have gotten really strict; my dad had a credit score of 825, but since he already had two loans open for his cars, they didn't want to give him a good rate. When I co-signed (a credit score of 775), they were still reluctant. We also got similar promotions in the mail from the Nissan dealer we bought my Sentra from 5 years ago, with their "top" trade value being $6000. We turned around and asked Carmax for a cash appraisal, and they wanted to give us $7000 on the spot. As far as trade-ins go, Carmax may be your best bet (don't buy from them though!); what we ended up doing was trading in ours to the wholesale dealer we bought the BMW from for $6500 since the taxes saved from trading in meant we basically broke even. Well the reason I am taking the letter seriously is that I have gone through the fine print crap, went over the whole deal with the paperwork, financing, trade, down payment, and all that. The dealer wanted to give me 6500 for my car as a trade, which I consider fantastic because I had other offers for less than 5000$ before, and thats how much my car is worth. We also qualified for a 2.1% interest for 60mo. And also they did not have the car I want on the lot and I would have to order and wait for it. CC VR6 4Motion in Shadow Blue metalic, Gold Coast Votex body kit, black leather, 19 inch "motorsports" wheels. It would be like three or more months wait. By then I can wait for a 2011 model. Quote

But you see what I'm getting at. While 2.1% is agreat interest rate, its still not the 0% there add said. The idea was to draw your interest, and get you in the dealer. for all intensive purposes, thats what happened. As for your trade, thats good that you got the deal you did. But chances are they made up the difference in the cost of the car. But in the end as long as your happy with the monthly payments, then it should be fine. With all the options you want, wouldn't it be better to just order the car? While you might have to wait, you'll be getting the exact car you want. But if you do get a vehicle thats in stock, you'll more than likely get a better price than waiting for a new car, or ordering one. Quote

You shouldn't settle on a car you kind-of-like; I almost did that, but I'm really glad I held out until I found the perfect car I wanted (body style, color, etc.). I'm not one to tell someone what to do, so go with what you most want (just be sure to bring someone who is good at haggling ). Congrats on the bimmer posades! Thanks Big Cam! It's exactly what I had in mind for my dream car. Once the factory warranty is up I may dabble in tweaking the engine and other parts of the car a bit (though admittedly I'm a novice when it comes to things like that). If there's one thing I would change, it would be the rims: I'd like to replace them with some darker ones with a few more spokes, though it's not high on the priority list since rims cost a pretty penny. The dealer just did not have the color/trim/engine I wanted at the moment on the lot and I would need to order it. I also called them again to ask how long the wait is for the order, I would have to wait 4 months for the car. I'm really thinking about putting the order in. Also haggling is no problem for me, I think its fun, the best thing to do is go to the dealer for like three or four days in a row debate their numbers, counter offer, leave, repeat, threaten them to go to another dealer, bring in KBB reviews and prices, argue the spec sheet, ask for deals on accessories etc. Thats what I ended up doing when my mom got her Honda Odyssey. The dealer really got frustrated that we kept coming in and wanted to get rid of us at whatever cost, we left with the car 6 grand off the sticker, upgraded at no charge to the "touring" wheels, premium floor mat and got all the free shirts, coffee mugs, key chain things they had. All in all, great success! Oh, posades, you are looking for wheels, get these: CSL reps in black: Quote

While the wait will be long, it will be worth it. The Passat CC is not cheap, and when spending that kind of money, there's no sense in paying for something that you had to settle for if you have the patience to wait. All in all, great success! . Fun for you maybe, but certainly not fun for the sales staff that is selling the vehicle. While i can understand wanting to get the best deal possible, toying back and forth, threatening to leave, coming back.... People need to keep in mind, that this is their lively hood. This is what puts food on the table for their families. You said yourself that the dealer got really frustrated with you, and in the end it was a "great success" as you call it. People give car salesmen a bad wrap;... But in reality the customer is just as much to blame for the "poor buying experience that many claim to have had. As I've said in the past, i have family members who work in the automotive industry and one is a car salesman. I remember many nights when my Grand father would come home around PM because he was trying to make a sale. Some nights the customer would walk out saying "they would think about it". Not cool to keep someone up till midnight working numbers when you have no intension of buying, or are just going to use that figure to take to another dealer. CSL reps in black: Very good looking rim. Only problem is there very common among the BMW crowd. Thats one of the things that sucks about European cars in general. Because there considered "VIP" status cars, there are only a select batch of rims that look good. And most of them are ussualy quite expensive. Quote
