Governor Mister Phes Posted November 24, 2005 Governor Posted November 24, 2005 In another thread Count Sneffy was telling us how he recently managed to find some old Western sets in one of this local stores. I couldn't ever imagine this happening where I am because every store seems to completely replace their stock on yearly basis. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen or had the good fortune to find SYSTEM Pirate LEGO sets in stores recently.. And by stores I mean physical stores in the real word, eBay stores don't count. Starwars4J Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Respond in my darn thread ya varments! Never! Well...there was one time when I must've been 8 or so when I saw an OLD classic space set in a store, but I wasn't allowed to get it because the box was opened :/ I've heard lots of stories about people finding them though, and I wish I knew where they were looking! Quote
snefroe Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 i don't wanna get you guys pissed off at me, but... i know at least four different shops with old lego ... 1 shop used to sell all space subthemes, aquathemes,... until 4 years ago... the oldest set i could find were Futuron sets (6884-1; 6953-1; 6925-1; 6932-1). i should have kept them in the box instead of opening them. they're all worth quite a lot of money... Needless to say, coming out of my dark age, i bought everything i could possibly find, often twice or more, like this red technic XXL car (8865-1). the only thing i didn't buy was the large UFO-set... timecruiser's all over the place... picked up a set of that last week (6495), paid 11.95 Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 25, 2005 Author Governor Posted November 25, 2005 Well I'm not pissed off Count Sneffy! There's no mention of pirates so I have no reason to be peeved or envious. Quote

BAH!!! I wanna hear about the pirates dammit! Tell me stories about finding old pirate sets in stores :P I've heard lots of stories about people finding them though, and I wish I knew where they were looking! This is what you'll have to find out. You need to ask them laddie! Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted November 30, 2005 Author Governor Posted November 30, 2005 I dream of stumbling across a toy store with old LEGO in stock... Dream and dream and dream... Quote
snefroe Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Makro also sells the blue buckets 3033, from 1998. it's a weird story. i think they discovered an extra stock somewhere in their warehouse, must have been the year 2002 or so... Since then they're regularly selling them in the shop... sometimes you're lucky and you'll be able to buy one for about 39 Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 30, 2005 Author Governor Posted November 30, 2005 You seem to be doing pretty well Count Sneffy. You haven't happened to see any pirate sets in any of these stores by any remote chance? Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted November 30, 2005 Author Governor Posted November 30, 2005 And sadly it probably won't ever happen! Because back when the pirate sets were first put on the shelf they all sold long ago. The ones that were accidentially left in storage and put on shelves in recent times would disappeared in seconds! What a commodity MISB Pirate sets are!!! Quote

Norro Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 I got a few old sets at a store in Canada which used to deal in inventory other stores couldn't sell. Way back in 2000ish I walked into a small store that had the whole spanish pirate line... I bought the IP and RBR and regretted ever since not buying the lot...my money was exhausted on the Royal knight stuff ; ) God Bless, Nathan Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 8, 2006 Author Governor Posted January 8, 2006 Errrr what does IP stand for? Quote
Norro Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Errrr what does IP stand for? I meant Armarda Flagship... don't ask me what IP stands for...:P God Bless, Nathan Quote
Jipay Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 I had the chance to come over many stores like the ones you are talking about. Mainly small stores in germany. I managed to get some special construction buckets aswell as an expension set for the space monorail (10 euros, it was 2 years ago). Talking about pirates, lemme tell you that one : Apo came over a small Toy shop in Germany and discovered they had a lot of old pirates sets : from old boats to islanders, even some conquistador sets. I told him ti buy them for me and he decided he could wait 2 weeks and then when he came back, a megablock pirate fan bought all the stock... Apo, I'll never forget ! Quote

A fundmental rule about Pirate LEGO is NEVER DELAY WHEN YOU SEE MISB ON A STORE SHELF!!! I feel your pain for experiencing that the hardway. This is truly the most horrific story I've ever heard.
