Legoman Posted June 13, 2009 Author Posted June 13, 2009 I think that you made the better decision legoman! theres no point of having a collection of 10 years of sets then just stop I was never going to stop, Just prehaps think twice. But since, i have realized thinking is for idiots! Quote
L-space Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Well, I have. Back to full on collecting i go! (Poor back account ) Good luck then Quote
Perterz Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I guess we all came through this stage of collecting. I, for one, was pulled back into Lego due to that Cafe Corner. Ever since then I've been collecting all sets I found 'great to display', various themes were included. But if you check the date I registered here you can imagine I quickly caught myself going to far + I started MOC'ing.. This brought me to the point to draw priorities. Nowadays I don't collect sets anymore (except for the modular line). I sold every set I found less attractive in parts for the MOC's I tend to make, nowadays I go through Bricklink just to buy the parts I need. I only buy sets for parts now so my criteria for buying are different and I managed to control my buying drastically. It's more satisfying aswell since you only buy what you need or will use. I do regret selling my Rogue Shadow tho but that's the only one. Quote

Finnigan Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 For me, I collect what I love and I find that I'm rarely disappointed. I used to think that I should collect all of a certain line so that my collection was "complete". However I would then feel guilty about sets outside that line that I really liked....especially since I was "focusing" my collection. It was almost a relief when I allowed myself to change my definition of collection to be "it is what ever I want it to be". I also decided that if I ever regretted not getting a set, I could probably find it somewhere online if I looked hard enough (and paid the right price!). That said, I have not been collecting the SW line for 10 years. That would be a monumental habit to break. However I think you should give yourself the leeway to refine the definition of your collection to not include the CW line or whatever else subline that you don't really care for. Just my 2 cents....
