BlueBard Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Maybe someone did it yet but I'm already planning a future expansion for my city (I know, I've not even finished the current step ) and I needed a CC model on LDD for designing more MOC buildings and planning some modifications. So I used pdf instructions from lego.com and I built this LDD model, what was a real challenge, specially because of the lack of some essential pieces and the corner section but after 5 hours of work (the corner was specially hard... ) I did it! Hope you like it Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Very cool. Can't wait to see the fruits of your hard planning/designing labor. Quote
Brickthing Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Congrats, I've always found digital building very tedious. How much is the cost of the final product, if it's possible to buy? Quote
BlueBard Posted June 4, 2009 Author Posted June 4, 2009 Thanks! How much is the cost of the final product, if it's possible to buy? Too many "not allowed pieces", as usual... Quote
prateek Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 that would take a long time. good job though Congrats, I've always found digital building very tedious. How much is the cost of the final product, if it's possible to buy? its probably more expensive than the actual set Quote
BlueBard Posted June 6, 2009 Author Posted June 6, 2009 Thanks! its probably more expensive than the actual set Yes, probably... I really think that TLC would do much more money from PAB if they were a bit cheaper Quote
BlueBard Posted June 6, 2009 Author Posted June 6, 2009 By the way, as I'm going to purchase CC for my City the next month (well, I suppose I have to get the money first but it's nearly done... ) I've decided to turn my own Cafe into a bar so I present you the Red&White Bar (just the first version, I think i'll change some details later). Hope you like it! Quote
Tom Bricks Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I like the arcade games and good job with the sign, i have always had trouble with lettering. Quote
BlueBard Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 Thanks! About the sign I think it's going the first thing I'm going to improve : it's still a bit fragile and "5-wide" with the 3 studs letters right in the middle will look better than this "4-wide" version (larger than regular cars! ) Quote

About the sign I think it's going the first thing I'm going to improve : it's still a bit fragile and "5-wide" with the 3 studs letters right in the middle will look better than this "4-wide" version (larger than regular cars! ) I don't really like to attachment (with plates) to the building... and straighten out those 1 x 1 on the left side of the sign! But those are my only complaints... nice job otherwise. Quote

But those are my only complaints... nice job otherwise. I agree. Well, about the 1x1 I only forgot to straighten out them properly as it was a WIP shot and about the plates I'm looking for a better technique but the top cornice doesn't let much choices. I'm going to try to enlarge the "bar" sign and to "cover" the plates section with slopes. I hope this works Quote

I hope this works I think the attachment to the building would look best with bars (or antennas) attached to - for example - headlight bricks. (So attach the bar sign to the bar using bars ). Quote
BlueBard Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 It's not a bad idea. I already thought at that but also that it would be so much fragile... I've tried it with LDD and it looks well so I suppose I'll give a chance to the bars Quote
BlueBard Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 Looks much better At first I tried with antennas but it was too fragile so I went for the bars. Thanks for refreshing my ideas Quote

Teddy Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Nice LDD of the Cafe Corner. Must have been quite some work to finish. I'm impressed. Especially with the angled structure. Yes, probably... I really think that TLC would do much more money from PAB if they were a bit cheaper I totally agree, for starters they could give deductions for bulk orders. If you order for example 100+ of one specific item they could give 10-20% off. It's not like ordering more adds to the logistical difficulties of an order, so a lower price for bulk is perfectly reasonable. Quote

Yes, the angle section took me some hours. The LDD pieces can't be assembled in some "real life ways" and there were some of them missing or bein impossible to do like the white arch for the entry I totally agree, for starters they could give deductions for bulk orders. If you order for example 100+ of one specific item they could give 10-20% off. Shouldn't be the opposite? Quote
Tom Bricks Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Yep, Bricklink remains a cheaper market than the official one... Shouldn't be the opposite? Not to mention they have a wider selection. Nice job on the sign it looks even better than before. Quote
