warpug Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 I'm itching to get into some robot building with Lego Mindstorms. However, it seems that the verision 2.0 of Mindstorms NXT will be released in August. The biggest addition appears to be a color sensor, with perhaps some upgrades to the brick, but I don't know for sure. Just wondering what other people would do in this situation. Would you pick up a NXT set or sit tight for version 2.0? Quote
Lasse D Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 I would pick up an NXT now with the massive discounts you can find some places. Just picked up two batteries at 50% off yesterday. People are apparently expecting a hardware upgrade, which of course should be exploited. Quote
VBBN Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I wouldn't buy it at all. But If I were to, I'd go for the cheaper old ones like Lasse said, and then just buy the upgraded home unit and color sensor later on seperatly. Quote

VBBN Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Nothing bad, I'm sure NXT is great, I've just never really been into the whole Power Functions thing. Quote
CP5670 Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 The NXT system is actually different from Power Functions. Quote
