Fugazi Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 This is a surprise indeed! The new banner and colour scheme are looking good, perfect for the season! (in the Northern hemishphere, of course ) Quote
Oky Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I certainly wasn't. Not sure what to think of it. I just hope this doesn't mean we can't have a Harry Potter Month later this year. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I was also surprised with the new themed month, never expected this one. The new skin is relatively ok, but it kinda messed up the SW forum so I had to bring back the regular SW skin. The contest does look interesting, I'd love to see the entries soon. Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I certainly wasn't. Not sure what to think of it. I just hope this doesn't mean we can't have a Harry Potter Month later this year. Just goes to show, when were left to speculate, we often over shoot. And there probably won't be another theme month this year. I believe there's one every six months. Quote
RoryoCox Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I don't know what to think. I know I can't enter the contest because I don't have any Action Figure Parts and am really not interested in the theme to buy any. I really hope we are still having a Harry Potter Month Quote
JCC1004 Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Thank god for the scheme change options. This one is so dark. The login page and profile pages have a lot of issues with the black font colour and black backgrounds. I'm sure there are more issues elsewhere. Well I'm not really into Bionocle/Hero Factory but I'm sure the others will enjoy it. Quote
Siegfried Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I really hope we are still having a Harry Potter Month "Still"? It may or may not happen, to be honest the staff hasn't even discussed it. Quote
CMP Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I'm a bit skeptical about this one...Hero Factory doesn't really...appeal to the main community on these forums. A Harry Potter theme month might be more popular. I don't have a single Hero Factory set, so no contest for me. Quote

I agree, I can't take part in any of the contests because I don't have any of those sets. Hopefully the staff will give us a Harry Potter month. Or maybe Siegfried is throwing off the scent. Quote
Dan the Brickman Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Ah, but levitating objects with your mind, having vision, and performing Jedi mind tricks has nothing to do with sorcery On this matter, I currently play the D@D equivalent of the Star Wars Role Playing Game.-To an extent, the Force, and Sorcery DO have ALOT in common. In fact, in multiple places in the games rulebooks, it shows for example, that force users in "primitive" or tribal societies are often considered shamans, or wizards.(ever heard of the Witches of Dathomir?) The Star Wars RPG books are one of the best starwars "encyclopedias" around. ...with that said, I would say that the Force is a more "logical" system of magic...not sure how to explain this, but I prefer it over the traditional medieval sorcery... I dont really care what theme month we have... occasionally having a themed month is great, it allows us all to work on similar types of projects, and for some of us, maybe encourage us to try something we haven't before. I don't think anyone was expecting an Hero Factory month Hahahahahaha. I'm a bit skeptical about this one...Hero Factory doesn't really...appeal to the main community on these forums. A Harry Potter theme month might be more popular. I don't have a single Hero Factory set, so no contest for me. If you have some Bionicals, and or a good amount of technic, you could still try. Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I think most will agree that this themed month is pretty underwhelming. HF and other Action Figure lines aren't very popular and all we have so far is one contest. Remember PoP month? We got 4 contests, 1 Mafia, and many great MOCs by Svlete. That's what we want for our themed months to be like. Quote
Fugazi Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Oh come on, give it a chance! Did Bionicle fans start complaining during the PoP theme month? I'm sure they didn't. There are probably other events prepared for the HF month, they don't have to reveal everything at once do they? I'm not into action figures at all myself, but I'm open minded. This forum is not about exclusion, but inclusion of everything Lego. If you don't like a theme, just wait until next theme month comes around! Quote
JimBee Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Well, not what I expected, but the new skin and banner are nice. They even match my new skin and wallpaper on my computer (image). While I won't be participating in the contest or activities, I won't mind the small audience who will. Quote

The previous PoP theme month didn't launch that list of yours on day one. I do realize that Hero Factory is a bit a special theme month, but maybe you could use it as an opportunity to learn a thing or two about the people who are into that theme. Personally I'm not into these action figures, but still I'm curious to see the contest entries and the other activities that will happen during this month. So stay tuned and cheer up! Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just a little underwhelming. Quote
Sisco Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 (edited) Meh, not my favorite theme month. I guess I'll wait and see how it develops. It's funny though, the new theme matches my school colors to a tee. Edited September 18, 2010 by cralegoboy Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted September 18, 2010 Eurobricks Emperor Posted September 18, 2010 I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just a little underwhelming. I know because I can read that in your previous post. And I can also read basically the same thing from you here in the Hero Factory Contest thread. I know I recently became one year older, but as long as I'm not senile there's no need to keep repeating yourself. Quote
RileyC Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Cool! I have bionicles stuffed away in my cupboard from ages ago so they may see the light of day sometime. Sure Hero Factory may not be the most popular so I hope it will open some peoples eyes to it and I hope we see some great mocs! Quote
Dan the Brickman Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Part of the point of LEGO is to stretch our imaginations, and try new things.... For me, this is an opportunity to try something with all those bins of Bionicals getting dusty in the back of the closet... ..lets try to have fun with this! Quote
Matn Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Although I'm not interested in Hero Factory, I think I'll try to participate in the contest, just for the fun of it. I have a few Bionicle figures, and a couple of Technic sets, so I'll try to finally make good use of them. It's a whole different theme for me. And on the LEGO Harry Potter month subject: I can't say I'm not disappointed in hearing that it hasn't even been brought up in the staff forum. But it's not a big deal to me: every month is LEGO Harry Potter month for me! Quote
Legomaster34 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 (edited) Yes, with a HP month, we should have the following: - Contests - Community Builds - Whack-a-Sigfig - HP Themed Avatars - New HP tags Perhaps some contest could be: - Scenes we'd like to see (silly/serious parts not included in the HP story) - EB/HP Mash-up (putting our sigfigs in Hogwarts) - Epic Scenes - Best Avatar I'd prefer Harry Potter over Toy Story any day. I agree that a Harry Potter month would be fun for all of the above reasons(especially the contests, which would give me an excuse to buy older Harry Potter sets for the good parts.) And a community build of Hogwarts would definately be fun. Finally a themed avatar thing I actually have minifig parts to create! (Still don't know why I haven't changed my Agents sigfig back to normal.) Edited September 20, 2010 by Legomaster34 Quote
Oky Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 "Still"? It may or may not happen, to be honest the staff hasn't even discussed it. Well, looking at the comments in this thread, it might be worth considering. Perhaps we could have it tie in with the release of the last movie in summer? Just a suggestion. The recently revealed exclusive set gave another idea for a contest we could have if we do have an HP month at some point: Build a shop in Diagon Alley! A contest to expand the already great Diagon Alley set with more shops in the style of those from the set. You could make one from the movies/books or make one up. Also, I'd like to propose two more theme months: Adventurers Month and Ninja Month. Adventurers is one of the most beloved Lego themes of all time, and seeing how it gets a revival next year, it would be a great time to celebrate this theme by having a month dedicated to it! There are many possible contests, and with the diversity of the subthemes, there's potential for entries of all kinds, from pyramids to airships to dinosaur-catching contraptions! And seeing what a crazy theme NinjaGo is, there are many whacky activities we could have based around it. But in order to make it accessible to more people, we wouldn't need to limit it to NinjaGo and could include the old, historic ninja theme as well. What do you think? Quote
Oky Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Well, well, looks like we had a HP month after all! Sorry for the double post and revival of this old thread, but I had to say that we just have to have a Superhero month next year! The Superhero theme is probably going to be the most popular theme since HP, so it would make sense to dedicate a month for it once a few of the sets are released. There is great potential for activities such as superhero themed avatars and contests. We could have a contest with three categories: A vehicle category where you build a vehicle for your favorite superhero or villain, a vignette category where you have to show the hero(es) in action, and a character category where you have to either make a custom minifig or action figure of one character from the DC or Marvel universe. It would be simply epic! Quote
Oky Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 My apologies once more for the revival, but looking at the prelims of the upcoming Dino theme I just had another idea: How about a Prehistoric month? We could have all kinds of activities revolving around Dinosaurs and Cavemen, like a build-a-dino contest or a contest about creating a primitive "Caveman" version of an existing set! Also, with the Ninjago theme going strong, I still think a ninja month would be a possibility. Quote
Hinckley Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Also, with the Ninjago theme going strong, I still think a ninja month would be a possibility. I have to agree that it's somewhat inevitable judging by the popularity and the push LEGO is giving the product line... Quote
