Lars Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 (edited) I always knew that the day would come when I would build my version of the awsome APC from the movie "Aliens". The inspiration came to me when I was playing around with the Aliens Pulse Rifles from my first ever BrickArms order. It was time to start building. Check out the final result and tell me what you think. More pics at my Flickr Edited June 6, 2009 by Lars Quote
HumanPackMule Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Very cool I like the sliding door, color scheme, and flat roof. Quote
TenorPenny Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 It's really well done. The sliding door especially. Quote
Optimus Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Aliens is one of my favorite movies, and you captured the look of the APC perfectly. Excellent job on both turrets, especially the sliding one. I'm surprised you actually managed to fit a nice interior into it as well. Great job on this! Quote
cagri Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 There are quite a lot of details for a model this size, very well done Lars ! I always wanted to build the APC but since you've done the ultimate model, I don't need to be bothered :D Quote
Darth_Legois Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Looks just like the one from the movie! Except wasn't it longer in the movie? Anyways that doesnt matter, I love it The minifigs look good too, But maybe more of them + a guy with a flamethrower (there was a flamethrower guy right? ) Quote
I Scream Clone Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 One of my favourite movies of all time! You have certainly done the APC more than justice, it is great! Quote
KimT Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Great MOC Lars. I've always wondered how to do the sliding door and you've done that in an awesome way Quote
Eilif Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Great Job. I love the gun rail mechanism. Is it functional? The angles, wheel covers and the front turret are spot on! I seem to remember it being a touch wider, but as far as being a good MOC, it's really well done. Quote
Lars Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the comments and compliments guys. Much appreciated. I too like the sliding door a lot. The method I came up with works well. There's friction enough so that the door stays in any position you leave it in. And yes, the gun rail mechanism is functional. The gun has a jumper brick as its connection so it doesn't swing around unintentionally. As for the size, I found this sketch on Flickr and printed the side and top view on a transparent sheet in a size that matched what I was aiming for. (Based on the size of the wheels and other details.) Using that sheet as a guide I ended up with one stud added to both the width and the lenght. Remember that in the movie the interior was huge in comparison to the exterior. (The moving movie vehicle had not much more than a motor in it I guess, since they used an old plane towing vehicle.) I've uploaded pics with some new stuff now. Sentry guns and flame thrower among other things. Edited June 11, 2009 by Lars Quote
mechamike Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Very nice , And i really like the sentry guns from the extended version of the movie! Quote
