Piranha Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Hello, I searched for a topic like this but couldn't find an actual official topic, so I thought it would be a nice place to store all the pictures and accounts of rare or unusual parts. If there is a topic just like this and has been recent, feel free to close/lock or merge Anyway, Rare parts have always interested me and I thought it would be a nice idea to start a topic about them and everyone can to add pics or notes about them. Here are some parts I find extremely odd: Here are the ones I know of Red Train Track (straight) Red Train Track (curved) Trans Clear Train Track (curved) Red Kepi White Tree Those are just a few that I will mention For further parts reference refer to this excellent Brickshelf Gallery maintained by Ash274 Gallery Thoughts anyone? Darth_Legois Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 All those parts + alot of other cool rare non-production pieces can be purchased at this BL store I'm actually thinking of making a order there soon. Quote

Anyway, Rare parts have always interested me I collect them, though not as prolifically as Ash yet. I'm always looking for parts though and will gladly accept PM'd offers. All those parts + alot of other cool rare non-production pieces can be purchased at this BL store I'm actually thinking of making a order there soon. He's been a good seller who I've had solid experiences with so far. That said, he just jacked his prices on a lot of parts, so I'm glad I picked up most of his rare stuff already. Quote

Yeah I only just noticed it the other day and looked around its abit pricey. I was just putting stuff in the cart and I didn't put much in and its totalled $100 USD. Quote

Ah thanks, I knew there had to be a thread somewhere One of these days I have to start collecting these rare parts, (the first part to start with I would like to be a red johnny thunder hat) , however I am busy most of the time buying current sets I would like to see a complete circle of red rail track hehe Darth, you must have put in alot! I was doing the same and only came to about 20 something dollars, the most expensive thing was an all white spruce tree. One thing that bothers me is when I type in the word "special" in the store search box, nothing comes up, finding the parts by specific is harder and doesn't show me all the possibilities. Quote
Ricecracker Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 (edited) I always wondered where you got that Dark Blue Kepi from... It's black, just like the hard hat . Edited September 24, 2009 by Ricecracker Quote
Darth_Legois Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 I would like to see a complete circle of red rail track I'd like to see a complete circle of trans-clear tracks. $120 each .. And it takes afew tracks just to complete a circle. Got acouple $1,000 USD spare lying around? hehe Darth, you must have put in alot! I was doing the same and only came to about 20 something dollars, the most expensive thing was an all white spruce tree. One thing that bothers me is when I type in the word "special" in the store search box, nothing comes up, finding the parts by specific is harder and doesn't show me all the possibilities. Well with afew things I put x4 or x2 so I guess thats why... (Mainly hats/helmets/backpacks) It's black, just like the hard hat . Uhhh I'm pretty sure its dark blue Quote
CP5670 Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 I have numerous rare parts (i.e. only appeared in one or two obscure sets) that were actually in normal production, but don't have any of these test pieces. Quote
General Armendariz Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 It's black, just like the hard hat . Are you colored blind? But seriously, I am colored blind Quote

Got acouple $1,000 USD spare lying around? That would be cool too Lets see, how much it would be. Math time!: 16 curved tracks make a complete circle Trans clear complete circle : $1,920.00 Red Track complete circle : $1,600.00 Imagine someone building a MOC that had an extremely large layout of red track and a town full of rare parts Quote
FROGG Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Sorry for reviving a dead thread but i could not find anywhere else to put this. While going through minifigs i found out one of my octan minifigures has a reversed print on his torso. I checked on bricklink but all the ones i found have the logo with green on the left and red on the right and the reverse for the octan text. Quote
wokajablocka Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I started the Missprint thread on the Star Wars fourm after reciving my Obi head with no mouth printed. Looking closly at most of my lego prints, thay are awful. Most are not lined up right or a little smudged but from a distance most look aright. I have recived a few melted and misprinted parts now. jmupton2000 Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Although I cannot find it at the moment, I do have from the mid 1980's a 1x2 white tile that should have had POLICE printed on it, unfortunately it seems to have got stuck in the machine at a 90 degree angle as a result it says ICE twice. Someone somewhere must have the matching tile with two POL on it!! Another oddity is this fellow: I acquired him a bag of minifigs and bits a couple of years back. All the others in there were 1980's classic face, this guy however has a sad version, is the only one I have ever seen and I have yet to track down if this was an official release and if so from what set. Hoboman Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 ......this guy however has a sad version, is the only one I have ever seen and I have yet to track down if this was an official release and if so from what set. It sure looks like the head Citizen Brick does. If ti is, then it is not an official released Lego face. They make some odd stuff there. Quote
Man with a hat Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Finally gotten around to posting my favourite brick of my own collection. I have this brick as long as I can remember so it must be from the late '70s. Obviously something went wrong in the mold but the brick still sneeked past quality control Quote
LandShark Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Do you think someone could add some links into the first post? A link to the Star Wars one, and a link to the History Themes one. Then we could have this as a sort of general misprints topic/index. Anyway, it's very interesting seeing all the misprints people have got, especially from older themes. Quote
danim Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I managed to find this Part with red splodges rather than the red stripes also I decided to ask Lego whether they would consider selling misprinted or mismoulded parts and got this email in reply Thank you for your interest in LEGO® brand toys. We are always delighted to hear from a loyal LEGO enthusiast. It's wonderful to hear that you're looking expand your collection. When it comes to the bricks, we recycle plastic whenever possible in our factories. The plastic can be ground up, melted down and used to make new elements with the same high LEGO quality. We're sorry, Daniel, but the improperly molded and poorly printed pieces are recycled so they're not available for sale! Please do not hesitate to contact us again if we can be of further assistance. We wish you many more happy hours of creative building with LEGO brand toys in the years to come. Quote
mostlytechnic Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 (edited) I picked up several Space Police Undercover Cruiser sets on clearance. When I opened them, I found several of the stickersheets are misprinted. It's supposed to be this: but several of mine missed the green ink step, so there's nothing around the box and globe logo. I also have a tan barrel (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30139) from Indiana Jones that is missing part of the top rim. Looks like not enough plastic got injected into the mold. It's kinda cool though, I'm debating blackening the edge to make it look burnt. Edited January 7, 2012 by mostlytechnic Quote
just2good Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 From my Garbage Truck Getaway set from 2010: Quote
Brickity Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 (edited) I don't know why all my male mini figs are perfect, and the only ones with misprints are my girls Tamara's torso (PotC) Correct print: Mine: As you can see, the clavicles and the scapula bones are misprinted. And the back of the waist line too. It's new so of course it's a misprint, I think I'll order a replacement because soon it will become rare and I don't want it misprinted Edited January 7, 2012 by Otherworld Quote
Vindicare Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 From my Garbage Truck Getaway set from 2010: What's wrong with this? Can you provide a picture of the right one, or explain the misprint. Quote
just2good Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 What's wrong with this? Can you provide a picture of the right one, or explain the misprint. The normal one is supposed to have dirt printings: Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Ok, this is the creepiest Lego related thing I ever saw. Quote
