Good point there, but who is it? And if so, that letter indicates that it was this lady who brought us here without the mayor's or town council's knowledge. But then you say they did know, so how can we be sure that all of this, everything, was planned with us as the victims? Oh darn..

Regardless, the Mayor knew of your "accidental" arrival before it happened, whoever sabotaged it.

And what is this piece of cargo you mentioned? You seem prone to letting personal facts slip.

Did anyone find any clues related to fancy parchment papers written on it? This could be the orignal source. I wonder if this person has slotted in any notes inside the open packet.

I agree with the fair and lovely Arin. It seems likely that the parchment paper is the same as the type that the invitations were sent on - implying that Jennifer Connolly-Chamberlain is none other than Elizabeth Rosacea Thornton.

It seems we have all been lured here, and the valuable item that ERT spoke of protecting was none other than.... my cargo of Eggos! The carbs-deprived fiends of Willoughby have no doubt been planning access to my stash of delicious treats and their vitamin-rich wheat, egg, soy and milk ingredients for a long, long time... :look:

The "cargo" might not be cargo, we all got a letter that stated this lady had something on board that needed protecting, I assumed it was precious cargo. How many times can you fit Cargo into your sentence partner?

Not 'Cargo', you clod - Escargot!

In which case, my supply wagon is in even more danger than just from Eggomaniacs!

I hope that the pony is defending those poor, innocent, delicious snails back on the Emerald Express :look:

Will the invading hordes of deranged townsfolk capture the precious cargo, or will the heroic passengers and their pony save the day?

Only you can decide with the new "Protecting the Emerald Express"™ Playset from the LEGO Town Collection!

Now with flick-fire missiles!

Enough cracks at the pony already, we all know its destined for the soup-du-jour. There are too many strong eggos egos around here for Bulldogs likin. I'm heading into the Jennifer Connolly-Chamberlain section of the filing cabinet to see what I can dig up.

Pete, why are you looking at me going through the files?

Pete, why are you looking at me going through the files?

Because this man-crush just got totally bromantic? :hmpf: It's because I had suggested searching the filing cabinet as well, but saw that you had already gotten to it.

Bulldog and Pete grab the C and T files within the large file cabinet. They appear to be birth and death records of numerous people that have lived in Willoughby over the years. In looking at the records under C and T, none of the names stand out.

See I'm not crazy! I told you that someone stopped the train, and my Theory that Jennifer was Miss Thortan doesn't seem crazy now!

But that doesn't leave us with many people for her to be. Since they're both woman names, and Jennifer seems to be her real one, we can assume that it's a woman. But that leaves me with two interesting thoughts.

1) She's one of the woman on the train. But how'd she get out of town to get on the train, and more importanly, WHY WOULD SHE COME BACK?

2) She's one of the people in town... a.k.a. Lorraine. Which doesn't make any sense either, since the council would have killed her.

And, since niether of those make sense...

3) Thge town council killed her. But if THAT's so, how'd she still arrange for the train to be stopped, and for the letters to get to you. How long ago did the first letteer say that she orginally stopped here?

4) a. She hasn't revealed herself yet, like she so explicitly said in her letter.

And, even if she has yet to reveal herself, we know that she has to have had a partner on the train...

I AM JENNIFER!

*Howard grabs face and tries to yank at it, to no avail*

Oh. Perhaps I'm not. Sorry. My mistake.

Well, then, lets take a look at all of the files.

1) She's one of the woman on the train. But how'd she get out of town to get on the train, and more importanly, WHY WOULD SHE COME BACK?

No, that's what I just said: this person could be either a woman or a male with a woman alias. It wouldn't be much of a mystery if we could narrow it down to only the two ladies aboard. :hmpf:

She said she will soon make herslef known to us - that doesn't mean that she is someone we already know. I'm not saying that it isn't someone we already know, just that it might not be. Anyway, I'll make myself usefull by looking for the letter 'X' on all the files.

I'd be willing to bet that she's one of the townsfolk we've all already met. It wouldn't be much of a mystery if she just came out and told us she was Jennifer.

I AM JENNIFER!

Really? Well, all detectives are wrong at some point, but...

Either this is the WORST case of hemorrhoids I have ever seen or it's the JOHNSON ROD!

Guys, your theories are all well and good, but they aren't getting us anywhere. I seriously doubt any one of us is Miss Thornton, although I'm not counting out the possibility that one of us is working for her.

Anyway, I'd like to take a closer look on that pile of paper found in the drawer, and very carefully scrub it with a pencil to reveal any denting or marks of anything that might've been written on the last paper taken off of it. [Hey, it worked in the Mystery Mansion, why not here?]

I'd like to leave and check the switches after I search for weaponry, since we've clearly exhausted all we can of this room at the moment.

Pulling the file labeled "X", Max discovers a record that has been carelessly misfiled, the only record filed under "X". It is the birth and death certificate of a woman by the name of Elizabeth Rose Thornton, born 1896, died 1979.

Eleanor does not discover any marks on the other sheets of paper.

For God's sake, have I found any weapons yet?! :sing:

Well, this is certainly very interesting. It would seem that the woman who paid for your tickets died thirty years ago. Are we to assume that Jennifer is her daughter? Or has she been reincarnated in the form of this Jennifer? Or was she Jennifer all along, and can live for hundreds of years? Is she Guinan from Star Trek: The Next Generation?!

Posted

There! That proves it! Elizabeth Rose Thornton's file was under the letter "X", and we know that Jennifer is "X" and therefore... they're one and the same!

Can I read my own file? And maye Geroge's file? And finally the Mayor's file?

Posted

Unfortunately, tracing the gun won't be so easy. This office is available to anyone who needs access for the files. We keep the door locked when the room is in use, but from what I saw, it doesn't look like it would have been too hard to break in to. I am also interested in checking if the gun has been fired recently, if that's possible.

*sigh* There is a reason Jennifer knew you'd arrive! Didn't you already know it?

There is a Willoughby citizen within your group. That's how everyone knew you were coming - the Mayor had implied that a train would be stopping by, and soon.

What? When did I say that? If I was up to no good, stopping the train and trying to kill people, why on earth would I announce it? If I was the evil mastermind you claim me to be, I wouldn't let you know what I was doing.

I think we can take this to mean that whoever called you here used Elizabeth Thornton as a cover. I don't understand why or how Jennifer Chamberlin would have brought you here, and she was gone for a while before you came. Perhaps she is hiding somewhere in town, and using all this distraction to do escape on the train? It seems like a lot of trouble when it's only about a day's walk to get out of here.

It seems she is much more important than we originally thought, causing someone to do everything to keep her here, which made her in turn take drastic measures to escape. But then why is she important?

Firstly, this Jennifer person was running from you in the council.

Secondly, the Alex told me that there had been activity by the Town Hall, indicating that the mayor was up to something, and that a train might be stopping in.

End when are we initiating the Crocodile plan?
