Antroz147 Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Who is enter the Core War Contest? I may enter the contest but I'm still not sure. Quote
Bfahome Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Oh, I'm basing this on the overall look of a set, not its build ('cuz they've all got an Inika torso, for the most part) Except Kiina… But really, how can you prefer the goldbluedarkbluesilvergrey abomination over Kiina? Quote
Zip Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 (edited) More to the point, how can you prefer any of them over Stronius? Edited July 31, 2009 by Zip Quote
Satellite Jack Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 *snip*@Tessara Explosion - I can't tell which Glatorian it is, but I'm going with Gresh, because the Behind the Scenes lines have Gresh saying that he's not that hurt despite others thinking he is, which would go hand in hand with being caught in an explosion. *pick kiina* It's definitely Vastus. Look at it again. You can see the snakes coming off his shoulders and head. Quote
jala12 Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Tarix is the most boring set to come out for a while. Get Kiina, who not only plays a large role in the movie but is also the only one out of them who can properly do this. Lol. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Who is enter the Core War Contest? I AM!!!!! Lol Kiina supermodel. SEXY! -ZotS Quote
Bundalings Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 He's still way better than the Mahri for example. ;_; Tarix is the most boring set to come out for a while. Get Kiina, who not only plays a large role in the movie but is also the only one out of them who can properly do this. Lol. I knew there was a reason I liked those shoulders... @ Zip: Yeah I should have got Stronius instead of Mata Nui. The hugely disproportionate torso and arms kinda makes him... not great. ~Bunda Quote
jala12 Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 As cool as Stronius looks, I'm not very fond of his overall bulkiness. His shoulder armor gets in the way of articulation. Most you can manage with him are a few "I smash you!" poses here and there. Quote
-MZ- Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 (edited) I liked Tarix for the gold pieces and awesome weapons, but yeah -- the Metru blue spoils it like a tuna sandwich left out in the sun... for at least a week. Kiina's face reminds me too much of Vezon's, and that alone (while an awesome face nontheless, she's supposed to be female) pretty much pushed me away. So while Kiina is the better set, Tarix has better pieces. I will agree with jala12 on that Stronius is a little too bulky to be considered the best. Edited August 1, 2009 by -MZ- Quote

Hey, I remember you from BZP! =D Stronius is IMO a flawless set, as is Gelu pretty much -- their problem is that, despite their lack of flaws, they aren't really that exciting. Although the club and Godzilla head of Stronius ARE pure win, and likewise with Gelu's ice-stuff. At this point, though, I'm starting to get excited for 2010 sets. XD -Ikk Quote
HumanPackMule Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 As far as the problems with Gelu go, you could just remove the thornax launcher and separate the ice staff and dual wield the blades. The staff also could be seen as a bow Quote
The Iron Knight Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 (edited) Stronius is IMO a flawless set, as is Gelu pretty much-Ikk Don't get ahead of yourself there, Ikk. No set is without flaws. I'd say that the flaws on these sets are so minuscule that they can be overlooked by... everyone. :P Unfortunately, Gelu suffers from an issue that many 2009 sets suffer (the best ones all have this problem, IMO). His helmet, when pushed down all the way on his head, covers more than than half of his eyes. That bugs me, so now I gotta' try to perfect all the helmets' positions. :-/ Ah, well, it's a quick fix, anyway. Edited August 1, 2009 by The Iron Knight Quote

I can't wait to see those magical first leaks and see the new parts, recolours, and weapons! I hope the impulse sets are as good as this years or better! Quote
HumanPackMule Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I just hope the impulses are more than a variation of a basic design(looking at you, matoran of 2008) Quote
Mesonak Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I just hope the impulses are more than a variation of a basic design(looking at you, matoran of 2008) Same here. I mean, the 2009 Agori were everything the Karda Nui Matoran SHOULD have been: Unique weapons, (Or some in different colors) Lots of Recolors, and even a SMALL Variation from the Villager design we'll be seeing for a while. (Tarduk, Zesk) Vertea: Same here. I really hope for more sets like this year: Elemental themed, practically no silver, yada yada yada. Everybody keep your eyes peeled for the leaks! This is around the time, with luck, we'll see them. Quote
HumanPackMule Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I wouldn't mind seeing more silver. That way, I could use the silver weapon in any moc without it looking out of place Quote
Mesonak Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I wouldn't mind seeing more silver. That way, I could use the silver weapon in any moc without it looking out of place Hmm...You DO have a point. People bash silver nowadays because of its overuse in 2008, but in reality, it's a good color in small doses, AKA weapons and in some cases, armor. But 2008 had so much... :-| Quote

I'd say that the flaws on these sets are so minuscule that they can be overlooked by... everyone. :P The problem is the set is easily overlooked as well. Gelu's pretty boring, and for the few good pieces (mask, blades, chest), I can't justify the price to my wallet. I hope, personally, that we don't find any leaks at all. Imagine how fun it would be to see the sets finalized before we see blurry prototype renders. Sure, it'd take a few months more, but it would save my eyes from seeing dozens of pages in this topic, dedicated solely to hating the blurry prototypes. That said, if leaks do appear, chances are I'll look at them. And save them to my computer. And spend every waking moment analyzing them. =P ~Bunda Quote
