But Kiina has something about her.

The lankiness, and overall flow. o.o

Then again, she suffers more than Mata Nui; all her limbs are the same, while Mata Nui at least has longer legs.

But I feel Mata Nui is just an eh set, above Gelu.

His mask/helm/Ignika is so round and small, and looks so weird. =/

But then again he has the hilt pieces, and Keet recolors.

And the stretched Hordika Neck.

And he's Mata Nui.

Go for the pro choice BFA:

Go Vastus. Stronius.

um. Actually Mata Nui's arms are longer than his legs. By one stud. but still. :\

Vastus actually is a pretty good set IMO. But Stronius is much more amazing.

I just read your Skopio review on BZP Bfa. Do you mind posting it here too? :classic:

I liked your review mostly, but the frame pieces are in fact new as well, appearing on the 2009 vehicles and the summer 2009 TECHNIC sets.

Oh heh, silly me, I assumed the legs were the 7long double sockets.

Reading your Review BFA.

Get better pics. D:

Read the photography stuff here on EB, good stuff.

I think it's in the Reviewer's Academy so sign up for that.

It helped me. [Kinda]

EDIT: I take that back, the pics are fine.

Except the beginning and the glare. D:

Oh and I lol'd at the specifics for someone getting the set at the end. xD

Also Bfa, extend your picture basepaper or take them outside what I'm guessing is your room. I realized it was your review from the carpet!

I just got back from the shops and I've now built Mata Nui. :sweet:

He's got sweet parts, and it's great to see that the Yellow-Orange parts have a solid colour, not like the softer colours that Yellow-Orange parts have had in the previous years.

The ankle guards look great, and the flopping issue isn't really big, but they look silly when Mata Nui stands in a pose with his leg stretched forward. I hope the ankle guard piece gets used as a saddle in a future set, because it's got the shape for it and an appropriate + connection hole.

The monkey arms are kinda annoying though, because his Thornax launcher drags on the ground and when Mata Nui touches the ground without bending his legs, his torso is still angled up.

The Ignika looks great, but it's freakishly small compared to the previous version, and I'm afraid that if I get used to this scale, Toa Ignika will look like a bobble-head. I'll also need to get used to this version being curved around the back as a helmet, instead of it being a mask.

Overall though, he's a great set, and I'm glad I got him. :classic:

Bunda, Wal Mart had them for $20. Dunno what the shipping is to you, but still. D:

Yeah, I know, but when I added shipping it just wasn't worth it.

Have you met my friend Kiina?

[kiina]

I know Mata Nui's are longer and goofy, but something about Kiina's arms in conjunction with her build drive me far crazier.

Really? Kiina has probably worse human proportions, but I think they look alright on her. Not so much with Mata Nui. And yes, I have them both to compare.

The Legends are out now on Kauai, and thus, by extension, the rest of Hawaii. I got Ackar, haven't opened him yet. Gonna do that now.

Ooooo. You should do a review on him. =P

How bout a mini review?

Ackar is a pretty basic Inika build, but he does it better than any other Inika build set. His proportions are decent, and his colors are great, but for a couple things I'll talk about in a sec. His arms should be Metru legs, though. That's the only flaw in his build. They had to recolor the pieces anyway, I don't know why they made it the fat, disproportionate kind. They work for legs... but only sometimes. Not arms.

The color issues mentioned above are trivial, really. The bley isn't as bad in person as I thought it would be, but it should still be black. The ankles (balljoint thingies) would also be better black (it would make Ackar have a black-jointed look, which I think would work great. Make him seem all the more like the Tahu we should have got in 08). The last color issue bothers me, but probably doesn't bother anyone else. What bothers me is this... the red piece in his sword would look SO much better in silver.

That is all.

@ the Alchemyst: I know it wasn't directed at me, but I'll offer my two cents anyway. I have mata Nui, Stronius, and Vastus. Out of those, I think Stronius is the best looking, with MN in close second. Vastus is third.

Actually, Mata Nui's arms are shorter than Kiina's, as they use the smaller Toa Metru legs instad of the Rahkshi legs. Another factor that makes Mata Nui better than Kiina is that unlike the latter, the Great Spirit doesn't have an incredibly tiny body. Overall, I'd say that Mata Nui's proportions are pretty much average as Inika builds go, while Kiina is far worse.

I have 5 legends now :-) Ackar is missing.

It is so obvious that Stronius is the best canister set ever, and only beaten by other Bionicle sets like Kardas etc. because of size. Stronius is the best Bionicle ever made, period

Thanks. ^_^

Also, how big is Ackar's sword compared to hmm, Mata Nui's Scarab Shield?

Eh, I'm probably the only one who doesn't think Stronius is super special. Don't get me wrong, he's a great canister set, but then again, so are all canister sets this year, IMHO. And I'm not one for clubs. Vastus is much more awesome with his SCYTHE and snake-themed armour. And I still think Mata Nui is the best out of all of em. Not because he's Mata Nui, but because he's a very well balanced set, great colour scheme and most of all, he resembles the character he has to resemble. The Ignika is still the Ignika, what can't be said of all the Nuva from last year, aside from Takanuva. I'm an Ignika fan, through and through, which is probably why I don't put Stronius on the top of my list.

Well, that, and the fact that Stronius mistreats Vorox. I love Vorox. Mistreating them is a no-no. Bad Stronius.

I dislike Stronius quite a bit. Both him and Vastus were on the bottom of my list, and now they're the only ones on my list, because I bought the rest. I plan on Bricklinking the pieces I want from them in a year or so. They just don't interest me.

My favourite is definitely Mata Nui. Followed probably by Kiina. Then Ackar and Gelu. With the exception of Mata Nui's arms, he's better proportioned than anything else we've received in a long time. No skinny-thin chest, no goofy-big head, shorter legs, etc. His head only seems so tiny because the masks we've gotten for the past few years were so big.

Actually, Mata Nui's arms are shorter than Kiina's, as they use the smaller Toa Metru legs instad of the Rahkshi legs.

I'm aware of that. But Mata Nui's arms are proportionally longer because his legs are shorter. Long double-socket upper arm, short double-socket upper legs. Things I wish the designers would stop doing.

Just switch it around, I'm sure you got a bunch of silver axle connectors. :P

So from what you have, who's the best?

[-TA-]

Out of Kiina, Mata Nui, and Ackar... hmm... Well, Mata Nui is my least favorite, for sure. He just doesn't do it for me. I dunno, I like the other two about equally, for different reasons.

Thanks. ^_^

Out of Ackar, Mata Nui, and Ackar? Could one of the Ackars be.... a Kiina?! lol

I myself don't own any legends yet. I'm saving up for stuff so I'm just waiting for them to go on sale. I'd say at the top I like Gelu and Ackar equally, but they're both a bit boring. Then Stronius... he grew on me. I only plan on getting those three. The other three....meh....

Nope, Bunda just likes Ackar that much. :P

Anyway, all jokes aside, Gelu and Ackar do seem like counterparts.

They have the same build, but Ackar focuses on Recolors [Oh man do they look beautiful] while Gelu has the sexier new pieces.

On the other hand, Ackar also has some exclusive pieces as well, mainly the fire.

I'd get Ackar from those two.

And Stronius is great.

He and his club just glow evil. :3

Well I hope to get all 3 of them when they go on sale. Along with Thornatus. And I forgot to mention Vastus...I mean, I love the snake theme. It totally took me by surprise. Just struck me as something TLC wouldn't do. But anything in that set that isn't snake themed just fails... Sorta hard to describe

I dunno why there's all this Mata Nui hate going on. I think that he's a really good set. And damn protportions! These aren't Humans, dammit! They're robot-fleshy-armored-muscle-things. And they don't need to look exactly like a Human. I really like his color scheme. It works much better than Ignika did. And not to mention he IS Mata Nui. I mean, he's like, the BIONICLE character. >_>

My favorite Legends figure is Kiina, though. (Even though I don't have her yet.) She's really cool-lookin', and I really like her vaguely feminine design.

Exactly true. I don't mind inhuman proportions. I just want the proportions, whatever they are, to look good. Mata Nui fails completely in this way. His proportions are only worsted by Hewkii Mahri's, IMO. In terms of appearance.

~Bunda

I don't usually mind too much about the proportions, considering they're not humans, and it would limit both the posability and variety of sets if they did try to make them human-dimensioned. I just find it distracting when their arms are so long that their hand-held launchers drag on the ground.

I couldn't agree more with you more if I tried, on MN and Vastus sets. They're by far the best ones this half-year. I plan on getting both of those as prime wants. However they sold out here, the only 2 sets on the shelf are the 2 I hate, Ackar and Stronious. Sure they each have 1 or 2 parts in set that I want, but not enough to put a voting purchase for them.

I won't however give any support to Lego's continued violation of Black sets with this hideous infestation of too many eye-killing red parts. I didn't get Onua Mistake-a or lame-o-Skrall for that same reason. I may however Bricklink some of the parts from those sets in future, but won't spend any of my money in such a way that lies, "I like what you're doing with this, Lego", because that would be wrong to do.

It would be nice to actually see Black sets again, rather than 2(or 3, in the case of Mistake-a) red sets.
