Personally I like the red/black colour scheme of Skrall, and I think it's neat how Stronius is Dark Red/Black, making him seem for elite and experienced. I never noticed the black set's continued use of red though, and when you think about it, Reidak is the most recent black set that hasn't really had red highlights, unless you count his glowing eyes, in which case it would be Whenua Hordika/the black Visorak.

Didn't Nuparu Mahri have no red? Unless you count the Cordak Blaster amo. I don't have any of the Mahri, so I can be mistaken.

@Phantoka Kopaka Nuva: Make another topic for it?

I personally think Onua Mistika is gorgeous.

Just take is torso down a notch, and let the Ghost blaster be held on the side and everything works well.

The red accents are great, and when replaced with Silver, look too blah and boring.

Definitely my favorite canister set of '08. :3

And funny enough I think Ackar and Stronius are the best. xD

But those are just my opinions.

Back on topic, I used to be a stickler for proportions, but as long as they are reasonable, and they fit, proportions don't matter. The Torso shape and head can also count for that. I just don't want to see Metru Legs with Inika Legs as arms. :P

I didn't find anything wrong with Hewkii Mahri [Other than his looks], but I did have problems with Rockoh Pohatu and Chirox unfolded [of course].

I think the problems with Mata Nui might deal with those really large wonky shoulder armor and possibly the small head.

The only canister I really "hate" is Vastus. Wonky armor, and sure the Snake Motif is nice, and that scythe is oh so amazing, but his helmet looks funny, limbs are eh. The armor looks silly and impractical.

Gelu is fine, he's boring as a set, but he has those nice swords and helm.

Ackar has the recolors, so I'm bound to get him.

Mata Nui and Kiina are there, and I'm not sure I want them, =/

The eyes and Cordak ammo where Nuparu's only red, but the Cordak ammo was on Nuparu in quite a few places.

What about Chirox? He didn't have any red

I was counting the Tridax pod, his eyes and the random red pins, but I suppose that's not a problem exclusive to black sets. It depends how technical you get. :sceptic:

I got Mata Nui for my birthday today, and man does this set rock! It might just be my favourite canister set ever! It's even better in person than I'd thought it would be. Those scarab blades are huge! The colour scheme is perfect, awesome even. Yes, the ankleguard rattle, but hey, when you're like me and you buy the sets for display only, that's no big deal. His long arms don't really bother me nor do they strike me as out of place. I do wish he had the sword instead of thornax launcher, though.

And for everybody who said it, I agree: that new Ignika is so incredibly tiny! At least compared to 2008 Ignika. But it looks right on the Mata Nui set and it is still clearly the Ignika, the mask I love so much. For that I'm very grateful. Awesome job with this set LEGO. What's to hate here? Nothing, absolutely nothing.

Hewkii Mahri had Metru legs and Inika legs for arms... so was that "[Other than looks]" sarcasm?

On the subject of the rattling ankle armor on Ackar and Mata Nui... it wouldn't make any sense for it to be stiff. If it was completely stiff, then it would severely limit foot movement. If it was somewhat stiff (with a friction pin or something) then it would get stuck in strange positions. It makes perfect sense for it to be subject to gravity, and I like it that way.

And BFA, so then one side of the Metus Shield would be all sliver basically then. :P

Which would be pretty useful.

No, I meant that instead of being silver blending to trans-blue, it would be white blending to trans-blue.

and yeah did you see that new review its awesum rite

(despite the failcamera and lack of a decent photography place)

Lol actually that was a mistake on my part, I never knew he had it that bad. ._. All I remembered was the silly Piraka arm and nasty mask. >.> And the random spikes. So random.

But even worse would be using the short 5-long double socket and metru legs as legs. D:

That'd be nice, but possibly have a less variety of uses.

I still want that prototype dark blue Snow flake we saw in the proto-Gelu. It looked so evil.

Lol review was fine.

I can't wait for a Cendox Staff review. >.>

Saw him in stores today, didn't have cash though.

Don't ever again mention that horrible possibility, Alchemyst.:tongue:

I'm aware of that. But Mata Nui's arms are proportionally longer because his legs are shorter. Long double-socket upper arm, short double-socket upper legs. Things I wish the designers would stop doing.

Maybe, except that since Mata Nui has Inika limbs for lower legs (which are longer than the Metru limbs that are used for his lower arms), the short measure of his upper legs is kind of offseted. As far as I can tell, his arms and legs are exactly the same length because of that, although I could be wrong. :sceptic:

This would be true, except the Inika legs are one "stud" longer than the Metru legs, and the 7-length joints are two "studs" longer than the 5-length joints. So the arms actually are longer.

This calls for custom lower arms or legs, methinks.

Also, haet you two for both 1234 gets.

Uh... Hewkii Mahri? (I guess he's so hideous people just try to blank him out of their minds...)

Edit: I just noticed... all the Glatorian Legends have Inika feet...

Edit 2: I'm reading Cendox's review now... I'm surprised GB #1 thought the track piece was new... where has he been since 2007? =P

The Inika feet are really the only appropriate canister sized feet for non-creature things anyway. The Rahski feet are too flat, and the Mantax feet are one stud to high.

Some BIONICLE fans don't look much into other LEGO sets, even TECHNIC sets. Bfa is guilty on one part of that.

I don't buy TECHNIC because I get a good amount of beams and axles from the large vehicles. And I still have some from older sets like Lhikan and Kikanalo and the Boxor.

Uh, Metru feet and Mata feet work good for canister sets too, you know.

Anyway, a new behind-the-scenes is up. Watching it now...

EDIT: Greg is in the behind-the-scenes! YAY!

EDIT2: I can see Ackar, Mata Nui and Kiina sitting on Sean Derek's laps.

EDIT3: I can also see Ackar holding Raanu's shield and Mata Nui holding the Vorox's tail.

Eh, what a weak TLR update... Even for a behind the scenes it revealed next to nothing, nor was it exciting or interesting. And now another week wait for a hopefully better sneak peak. *sigh*

IMO they're a bit small, especially the Mata feet.

That's a pretty uninformative video compared to the previous ones. All they said was that it's gonna be cool and about teamwork. Neat about Mata Nui with the Vorox tail. That's how he is on my shelf currently. :classic:

What, no love for huge anime swords? Here's what Mata Nui would look like with the sword (courtesy of BCii):

cool! the orange/yellow color and the huge sword reminds me of ichigo from bleach

i wish they could have made the ignika a bit bigger though. seems a bit small.

Nah, I like it like this, recent masks are way too big. *coughbrutakacough*

Blargh, I wake up and all these updates.

@N: Lol then the swarm of ToaMOCs wearing big-headed Olmaks came rushing in.

@Bunda: Man I must be blind. ._. Hewkii Mahri did suck, but I never thought he sucked that much.

BFA's right on the technic part. Older sets from garage sales and stuff give me enough beams and connectors.

System is necessary though for both pure system MOCs and Fusion/Bionicle MOC's for me now and pretty minifigs. :D

Metru legs are now only good for arms it feels. Why don't set designers use the small 5long double socket as upper arms as much? D:

And Mata Feet are a pain with the canister sets, I remember Matoro Mahri, he'd always be the first to tip over. >.<

Cendox review was short and eh. We did get to see the building process so yay.

TLR update was boring, but I'm kinda happy with the TLR update, since they don't spoil too much.

Only if he/she is a member of BZP/Eurobricks. There's only a small chance.

Something just came to me: recently, we found out that the Element Lords were once Glatorian, who were given elemental powers by the GBs. Would that mean the EL of Rock was once a Skrall? If so, I wonder which type of Skrall he was (or she, if female Skrall were around that time)?

Posted

That's new to me.

But also, weren't the divisions made during the war?

Which means the GB could pick any random Glatorian, and that means the EL of rock isn't necessarily a Skrall.

Plus Skrall came from the North, after the war right?

Meh, vaguely interesting update. Good to know Greg had something to do with the writing of the movie. (Even though I think we already knew that.)

What wories me is her line about teamwork . . . I really hope this movie doesn't have an umpteen-hundred friendship speeches. Because that would ruin a lot of the movie IMO . . .
