jala12 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 ....You just sorta made me want the Kaxium. Lol, to be honest the main bike reminded me of Cloud's bike. There's a huge oversized wheel in the back as well. Quote
Zarkan Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) After seeing Mata Nui doing a Lhikan move, I so want him now. At first, I was planning to get Tarix, but now Mata Nui changed my mind. Now I have to think of a mod so Mata Nui can store his sword on his back. Any ideas, guys? I already have gotten Tarix and plan to get Mata Nui as well. Unlike a lot of people, I thought Tarix was a decent set, but I realized that he also had a lot of wasted potential. So, I heavily modified him, giving him a more balanced color scheme, a better weapon arangement, a better place for the Thornax launcher, a less skinny body, and a taller torso. Those changes make him a lot better, IMO, and much more comparable to Gresh. I'll probably get around to posting the creation once we get our digital camera hooked up again, as well as a bunch of other MOCs that I haven't posted yet (including my complete Toa Newva mod collection). Oh, and I like the Kaxium, because it looks less like a real world bike and fits in better with the location. It's not perfect, but it's a cheap way to get two Agori and a decent vehicle - whereas the Thornatus and Skopio are awesome but probably way out of a lot of people's price range. Omicron Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 People are free to explain their thoughts on things, for it's the criticism that helps lego improve on their mistakes. I am free to explain my thoughts too yanno. If you don't want to hear people defend sets, don't read them. -Omi Quote
Bundalings Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 and a taller torso. Taller? It's too tall already, IMO. Unfortunately the armor won't let me shorten it... but w/e. I hid Tarix at the back of my shelf behind my other Glatorian so I wouldn't have to look at him. =P ~Bunda Quote

Thorni and Skopio are way expensive. Plus, I don't want any more hideous red pieces that Skopio is over-run with. It would have been better if Lego would put colors of the current story's region in the sets. For example Glatorian sets should have more sandy colors, Mauri should've been aquatic, and so on. Quote
jala12 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 You mean double color injection? It would've been cool but I think it may be more expensive to do. However, I think it could really bring the more sandy and roughed up elements if some of the sets this year had faint tan splotches on them. Quote
Brickthing Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I think he also meant simply replacing some of the brighter colours like Gresh' Lime or Metus' Light Blue with Sand Green and Sand Blue to make their armour match the movie versions. A Metus, Berix or Kiina with Sand Blue would be total . Quote
Guy Felton Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 (edited) Also anybody recall the Ussanui? That was Bionicle's first thing to a motorcycle, and we all praised that shit, and quite frankly it was awesome. And motorcycles are way better. That is the one thing I will buy this year from Bionicle. -Omi Yeah, the Ussanui was awesome. I built it three times. One of my favorite sets by far and still the best vehicle ever released. The Alchemyst Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Well, I got Cendox. Still call it a hovercycle, and it's pretty sexy. Crotesius is bleh, the helmet is great though. Steering is cool, it's almost like suspension, and the colors work, although the red and blue is irksome. The tracks make a really nice clackity clack sound, Kiina armor is cool, I like the texture, and the Brutaka blades are useful. The design is really nice, I like how everything works. The Agori doesn't seem to fit well, and I hate how he's monotone. Oh, and those who want the new Fero and Skirmix box, saw it today at the Lego Store in Lawrenceville, GA. Pics: Front Back Side with Click And of other notes: Thonratus on sale, what. Thornatus, it's kind of cool. First time seeing this in stores. [-TA-] Quote
Bundalings Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Thornatus sale want. Also the new Fero box looks much better. ~Bunda Quote
VBBN Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Can't say I like the new box varient for Skirmy and Fero-cious. It doesn't have the desert vibe like the original. Glad to see we are getting varients though, I like varients. Quote
Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 The front is ok, but the back is kinda bland. Still prefer the winter version. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I saw all the complaining on the bike. Wow. By the way, I saw a huge stand for the 2009 Summer Glatorian with the Glatorian Arena 2 Mata Nui picture on it. All the sets were on it, but I couldn't help but notice that the boxes were way too huge. WHY LEGO? WHY!!!!!!!!! I almost bought Mata Nui but decided not to. -ZotS Quote

The BZP one wasn't to insightful, tbh. On another note: Fero and Skirmix....They're the same? What happened to the "new eyes" thing? Was it a lie? A big rouse? Thornatus on sale?! You should have gotten it! Then again, I'm sure it will go on sale for much less later. Good thing you waited. Smart thinking But that Titan Mata Nui.... Almost shattered my o' happy day.... Quote
The Iron Knight Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 The eyes in the set are different. Not the box art. Quote
VBBN Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 The eyes in the set are different. Not the box art. Yes it is. Look at the pictures. One has Bara Magna as the backround, and the other has the skrall shield design. ;] Quote

VBBN Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Ah okay, that makes more sense. Wow, this review of Cendox on BZP is driving me crazy. Ranbow colorscheme? Take a look at Titan Mata Nui, dude. X] And having to click every thumbnail is REALLY annoying, I miss the old days of BZP reviews(2006!).... I do have a question, why do you guys have a problem with the larger boxes for sets? If you are buying them online then I can understnd(expensive shipping), but if from a store, why? -VBBN Quote
dviddy Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 And having to click every thumbnail is REALLY annoying, I miss the old days of BZP reviews(2006!).... The newer format is far better than the old one, as it allows for a quicker page-load, which makes it easier on the server, on your browser, etc. Plus, this allows for larger photos in the review itself, as they don't have to fit into the same web-page as the review itself. Plus, I still feel that the BZP reviews, on average are better than anything here on EB. But of course, I'm biased, as I wrote five of them this year, and three of them last year. If you are buying them online then I can understnd(expensive shipping), but if from a store, why? It's a waste of resources. It's like the goofy near-canisters they made for the Avtoran and Agori. Could the consumer have saved on the price if the box was smaller? Plus, some people keep and store the boxes (not me), and I guess the large size can be frustrating. Plus, the large box is sort of deceptive. You open it up, and there's not a lot in there, especially not enough to justify such a large box. Quote

And quite frankly I would rather they overdue the packaging that underdue and have problems such as missing bags, etc.(Though that doesn't stop instructions from being bent in TRU boxes!) But if it were a bit smaller to fit the amount of bags, I would certainly have no problem with that. Quote

Sale was because of a bashed box, I'm surprised; the Lego Store in Chicago does it rarely, but there were a bunch of them at the Lawrenceville store. I'm not a fan of the Thornatus, and didn't have the money anyway, so didn't get it. :P I'll make a Cendox review, once I get home and get my posterboard, later today. I'll take pics of the box right now since I can't take it. [-TA-] Quote
Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 You know, I'm surprised that none of us has complained about the lack of serials. Sure, Greg is a busy man and all, but how come we're only getting ONE serial chapter every 2 weeks now? Quote
