Zaktan of the Shadows Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 That... was amazing. The artwork is great! Very nice art on the new creatures, and the ocean looked very good! I liked this artist. If he drew the 2007 comic arc, it would be 100000000000 times better. Also, the best thing was the spotlight on such a minor character. Felt good to see him in more action. -ZotS Quote
-MZ- Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) So...Who else is majorly hyped for The Legend Reborn? IT WILL BE EPIC!!!!!! Actually, I'm pretty sure most of you are. -ZotS I'm still not sure. Models and animation look better, but I'm not sold on the writing. And after WoS, I'm treading carefully around BIONICLE movies to avoid wasting $20. Ummm.... Is anyone else having the problem of only half of each page coming up? I'm having that problem too. They should be JPEG so that they load better/faster. Edited August 16, 2009 by -MZ- Quote
Brickthing Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Or that those comics were his only reference. Like Turaga Dume in that one '08 comic...EDIT: Those sharks have a pretty clever design... Probably, although it doesn't make sense, because as an artist it makes sense to do a little research about what you're drawing, and it currently wouldn't be hard to find a picture of the proper current Ignika given it's significance. And I think Turaga Dume was like that because they didn't want to show an old set in a comic promoting current sets. I love those sharks, and they make me wish that the Giant Shark set upcoming in the Atlantis them is exactly a Giant Shark with a <insert that tiresome argument> head, just so that I can make one of these sharks. @ Non-loading images, that's just your browser timing out, because they loaded (almost) fine on my computer, so just refresh your browsers. The scans would be better as jpgs though. Quote

Bundalings Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I'm having that problem too. They should be JPEG so that they load better/faster. Same. Only a little bit of the image is showing up for me. Art looks good from what I can see. Sort of a mixture of the style of the 2007 comics and the quality of 2008/9. ~Bunda Quote
-MZ- Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Just use something to download the image, then you should be able to read it. Actually, that's what I did. I didn't want to wait for each image to load so I just downloaded them all. I'm going to try the former way and just wait it out -- maybe it'll load completely then. Quote
Wrinkledlion X Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Whoa, I wish Pop Mhan had done the illustrations in 2007. He makes the ocean look like something interesting and dynamic rather than just a blue background. Quote
Bfahome Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Whoa, I wish Pop Mhan had done the illustrations in 2007. The comic was illustrated by Christian Zanier. Quote

S-N Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 The awesome thing about Christian Zanier is that he makes everything so detailed. And makes awesome sharks and fishes. X3 Quote

jala12 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Amazing artwork. I wish this guy did the main comics. Looking forward to graphic novel #8. Lol, by the way, anyone type in his name into google images? Makes you wonder who at Lego came up with the idea to hire him for this type of work. Quote
Omicron Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Well it doesn't have to work. For example - Umbra, the Light warrior, means Darkness.-ZotS That was a codename if I can recall, to make others think otherwise of his nature. -Omi Quote

Satellite Jack Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I rather liked Stuart Sayger. His style was refreshing. I was going over old Bionicle comics, and I realize now how much I loved '06! Stuart's art style really fit the dark mood of '06, a mood which I entirely adored. And I'm also realizing my love of Axxon's character. However Sayger got boring in 2007. The style didn't really fit the mood. This Zanier character would have been a better choice, IMHO. Quote
Brickthing Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Christian Zanier did an awesome job with the comic, but I'm guessing that his previous work makes it unlikely that he'll get a job illustrating the main comics. You BZP mods better watch out for people suggesting to google search him. Quote

Yeah, I liked him in 2006... a nice change in style from the bleehdhefbhffhasdf that was 2004/5 comics. ~Bunda Quote
Mesonak Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Alright, I need some opinions. I can either get: Skopio. Thornatus. Titan MN. Now, Skopio is the biggest, and has the Telluris helm, lots of red panels, and some other things. Plus it's a Scorpion/Tank. :D Thornatus has an awesome helmet, a big wheel, the new limbs in black, silver Krika masks, and TAN. Titan MN has a Gold Ignika, awesome build, more new joint pieces, lots of orange pieces, and more. Which should I get? -Mesonak Quote

Brickthing Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Thornatus. The other two kinda suck (as sets).~Bunda I agree with this one, because it's the best set, has the part value for money (not that any are good these days though ), and it's got awesome parts for MOCing. Titan Mata Nui has good parts, but bad price and an average build, and the Skopio is a mediocre set with mediocre parts considering it's expensive price. Considering the movie, Thornatus wins again because although the Skopio is more epic, it's not to scale, which makes it hard to replicate the feel in set form. Quote

I think I'm gonna get Skopio, for the overall feel of the set...Or maybe I should get Thornatus and wait for Skopio on sale...BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH. -Mesonak Quote
