MrTools,

I'll be looking forward to hearing about your adventure tomorrow.

I went there again tonight around 6:00 to get the Yoda Duplo brick, and waited for about 90 minutes to get in. The store was really picked over too. Almost all of the new SW sets were gone. But it was fun. :) I'm excited to have one so close now.

I hope they do atleast one in Australia, I dont care where even if its in Sydney or Melbourne!

If they do chances are it'll be on the east coast. (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne) :sceptic:

If they do come to Australia, then the first one will definitely be on the east coast. However, there's a bad aspect of having a LEGO Store around, as pointed out by someone in the local LUG; if we have LEGO Stores, chances are that the exclusives will be sold there alone, which means having to buy them at full RRP unlike this past year when we can buy <$300 Eiffel Towers, $120 MMVs, $160 Town Plans and $200 Green Grocers.

Another bad aspect is that you have to pay taxes now on sets you buy from S@H :hmpf_bad: (at least you do here in the United States).

I'll probably be going back to the B'ham store sometime this week, I'll need to pick a day/time when it's less hectic though.

Actually, in virtually all states, you are required to pay taxes on Internet purchases. It's just that once a online retailer has a physical presence in a state, they are required by the state to collect the tax themselves so it's impossible for you to avoid.

As for Australia, I believe they have a national sales tax similar to a VAT, so they are probably already paying taxes on their online purchases anyways.

Yes, that's right. We already have to pay tax.

Here's the exclusive set for the Birmingham store:

Needless to say I'm a little underwhelmed. Not very detailed and the piece count looks low, of course I'll still get it though.

Have you heard anything about the volunteer positions Jordan?

Only that the schedule of volunteers seems to be acceptable to the store manager. That means that you are scheduled for the Saturday shift (10AM-6PM). Have fun!

BTW: As a volunteer, you should automatically get the Vulcan set (and other perks)

Alice, if you're reading this message board, did you want to volunteer as well? We could use some extra hands for Sunday.

All of these stores have already opened, except for the one in Tauentzienstraße, Berlin, which looks like it's only just been confirmed. Looks like my predictions were correct!

Cool.

I read about all these stores opening in every corner of USA. (And Germany)

When is TLC going to care about the rest of the world? No offense to anyone.

I mean, they will eventually need official stores somewhere else too, right?
