While I am sure most of us would get a Johnson Rod at the tought that lego is picking up on old themes again, I will wait until further "Sources" say so.

Thanks for the tip tough.

EDIT - Also this belongs in History & Adventurevor Other, but not here.

EDIT 2 - Oh Megablock. I used a Rod joke. Damn you Shadows!

This sounds great! I hope LEGO goes even further with it and integrates undersea ruins and maybe an Atlantis-like, underwater civilization that could function as the friends/enemies of the divers.

I actually believe this, although I'm not sure of the name, it seems legit. Lego can't go very long without having another underwater theme :hmpf: and you know it, so it sounds true.

Haha I'll believe it when I see it.

But it does certainly sound like a posibility. Hopefully they dont plot humans against sea monsters/creatures like they did with the aqua raiders....

Thank you very much for that news, BatonMedved! :classic:

Please don't call me unpolite - but because of some bad experiences about "mailmen" bringing news about new sets to us without real prove I won't believe before we get an official or unofficial confirmation or pics.

I personally am a bit sceptic about this possible new theme: Of course it'll (hopefully) be nothing similar to the  Aquazone theme from 2007 since it'll be a subtheme of City!

So perhaps we could see some redesigns of the Aqua Mission sets from the mid-ninetees (without mutated sea monsters or other fantasy creatures) - that would be awesome! :oh:

On the one hand I think it could well be since

- this theme would offer a lot of vehicles and action (mainly important for TLG's main audience, the JFOLs)

- this theme hasn't been there for now more than ten years

- the sword fish in the Pirates Advent Calendar and the octopus in one of the regular Pirates sets might be used for a new Aqua Mission theme

On the other hand I doubt it since

- I can't remember that in the power point presentation on one of TLG's employees there wasn't mentioned some theme like this being that demanded among us FOLs - so it would be a bit strange to make a survey but then not release the sets which are demanded

- this theme would be something very exceptionnel and a totally own theme which does not fit that good with the rest of the City sets until now

I personally would perhaps like this theme.

But nevertheless I'd much more prefer to get some extensions to the awesome 7641 City Life  - a post office, a bank, an armored car, a grocery and a delivery van - since they are much more neccessary than some aqua mission sets!

So I only have to say: Let's surprise us!

No, I'm pretty sure he said it'll be its own theme.

Thanks for clarifying that, just2good! :classic:

But why is it then posted under the "Trains and Town" theme?!

Let me guess: Supposably because all themes which are no "historical" sets, no Space sets, no Technic sets, no licensed sets, no Pirates sets and no Bionicle sets are put in the "Trains and Town" forum! :hmpf_bad:

So: In a real Aquazone theme like TLG released in 2007 or in the beginning of the ninetees I'm really not interested! It is the same like with the current "Castle" theme, the Space Police theme and the Agents theme:  !

I really don't understand why TLG doesn't release a nice theme - like e. g. Western  (would be my absolute favourite one), Adventures, Space Port, ...!

Btw: In order to get at least one good news for next year's themes and sets: Is there nobody who heard something about next year's City sets? :sweet:

Another one? :hmpf:

I'm really hoping this'll turn out to be false. :sadnew:

I can only agree with you!

Apart from that they all very  the last theme didn't even sell well and stopped already after its first wave. So why should TLG release again a theme similar to this one when the chance that it'll sell as bad as the last one is very high?! :hmpf:

I hope this is true I wounder what new factions they will make I think the stingrays were the best.

Maybe they will make Octonauts or Aquasquids they're main ship could be a big octopus looking sub. If this is the Aquazone they are re makeing and I hope it is.

Didn't TLG just make aquaraiders about 2 years ago? And wasn't it one of their worst selling lines, considering that it did not survive for more than one wave?

I think this is fake. Or TLG has lost it.

What is it with you and hating those three themes? What's wrong with them?

Anyway, if this is true it could be very good news, perhaps it might take a bit more of a mythical slant with ancient architecture and mermaids and the like. Looking forward to 2010 anyway.

Nothing is with me, Batbrick. :classic:

But I'm really getting tired of all that fantasy themes!

We have now Agents, Space Police, Power Miners and the current "Castle" theme and next year even Ben 10 and all these other licensed themes - isn't that enough for fantasy themes?! Look at what we've got for "real" themes on the other hand: only City and Pirates! Isn't that a big disparity?!

Of course there were several fantasy themes in the past, too, but - when you look at catalogues of the ninetees - there were even more "real" themes (e. g. in 1997: City, Pirates, Western and a nice Castle theme).

I find it very unfair that TLG offers on the one hand that many fantasy themes to the FOLs which want fantasy themes - but on the other hand there are only two themes (City and Pirates) for FOLs who want close to reality themes!

To prevent misunderstandings: We're talking about a  theme like this one and not about a  theme like this one, don't we?

Another 2010 Theme? Lego will have very hard-working year!

If this theme will give us new or recolored water animals (Goldfish please?) I am in!

And.. maybe we will get some mermaids! (People vs Mermeids from Atlantis, WTF?)

Unless Power Miners is dead i do not believe this at all.

LEGO already will have about 5 new themes for the Disney deal, then they already have about 100 other themes they will be doing. I would think it would be more likely just to have more subs in the Agents theme.

However Aqua Raiders sold shockingly well for LEGO, and they never thought about continuing the theme, so maybe they realized there is interest in underwater sets.

All I want is a theme where they have mermaids and the sharkman pieces.

Also IJ took over Adventure, Wild West Might come back at sometime, but it's iffy because of the history of the USA. However there is no chance for a Space Port theme. The Space Shuttle is going to be retired next year and nothing will be replacing it for 5-8 years. So what would you make the sets about? However Space Port is what got me back into LEGO after the horrible 1997-1999 years.

I guess this could be true because they have a new one every few years, but I was expecting another dinosaur themed line though because they haven't had one of those in a few years too. :sceptic:

It seems to be that underwater, as the last great unknown of our planet, captures the imagination. Much speculation has concluded that Agents 2.0 is the last we will see of the theme unless TLG really stretch the idea (I am a huge fan, and even I can see that there isn't much else that can be done set-wise) so maybe it will be a replacement theme for Agents?

Klaus: Not being mean or anything, but the Pirates theme is far from realistic, it is certainly slightly more grounded in reality than the other themes but it presents yet another romanticised view of Pirates from the Georgian era. Reality doesn't sell well, military is the only "realistic" theme Lego could sell besides Town/City expansion and War is not a "theme" TLG wish to touch upon. All this is IMO however, so take of it what you will.

I would enjoy an underwater theme if a more exploratory track was taken. Fighting sea monsters will probably sell better though.
