BlueBard Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Hi everyone! I've decided to start a proper topic for posting all the little WIPs in the City display I'm preparing (coming very soon, promised! ). Here are two ideas I had for improving my yellow Post Office and for a Flowe Shop. (Un)fortunately they won't be included... I had other ideas more interesting or just a bad needing for some particular pieces This would have been the Post Office adapted to the corner of a street (two 8x16 baseplates black tiled would have been added to the left side for doing the corner and also a lamp, a public phone and other stuff). With the left-overs of this MOC I'm going to try a new garage in CC style. The interior is the same than in the previous version (if you want to see it click on the picture at the end of this reply) This is a project I had when I "believed" in the 7641 City Life I tried to modify the pizzeria for making a flower shop and included the bus stop and the public phone from the 8402 in a simple but nice corner combination. Unfortunately after some detailed reviews of the 7641 I decided to save the money for improving the rest of the buildings and put up some others. Actually I've kept the idea of the Flower Shop and I'm working on one right now. BTW, for the presentation I've finally chosen the alleyway option because excepting the Red&White Cafe (well, now it's a bar... ) I won't have corner buildings... But a lovely Cafe Corner will help as soon I can have the money Quote
Tom Bricks Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Corner buildings are always harder so nice job on converting the post office to a corner. Also good luck getting CC, it should fit well with your MOCs. Quote
Zorro Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Looks very good, with the corner it actually reminds me to my own postal office. I also like the bar. Quote
Davey Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I love the little Post Office! Has that nice neo-Classic Town feel to it. Yellow and red always look nice together. You definitely have a good start on your Town setup. Keep posting pics! -Dave ToT-LUG Quote
Skinny Boy Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Oh yes. What Mob needs a Bank, when they can just rob the Post Office? Thanks again, for forcing me to sign in and comment Love the whole thing, especially the back. Brilliant stuff. Quote
Loganwan Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Okay, this is just weird. I bought the 7641 City Corner. As soon as I was done building it, I sat back and literally said out loud. Now I need a flower shop. What is it about the set that made us think of a flower shop? Now for your stuff. I REALLY like the post office. The long window with short windows over is a beautiful design, and really gives a nice design aspect to your building. Quote
BlueBard Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 Thanks every body for the nice comments! It seems lot of you like the post office, now I'm beginning to regret to take it appart yesterday... I hope the garage I'm doing instead would be as popular You definitely have a good start on your Town setup. Keep posting pics!-Dave ToT-LUG I'll do. As soon as I'll have the last BL order I purchased I'll be posting shots of the three buildings left. Oh yes. What Mob needs a Bank, when they can just rob the Post Office? Don't worry, a Bank is one of my future projects. Allways taking care of what Mob needs Okay, this is just weird. I bought the 7641 City Corner. As soon as I was done building it, I sat back and literally said out loud. Now I need a flower shop. What is it about the set that made us think of a flower shop? Dunno, it has a special flower shop "feeling" I suppose Quote
BlueBard Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 Hi everybody! I've finally finished my exams and received the last BL purchases for my display so I've been very busy these days, updating things here and there and building new structures. If everything goes allright I'll be able to show you the final result at the begining of August And now for the updates: For the Red&White corner building I've updated the Appartment's door... ...I've also uptaded all the buildings with the modular Technic connections... ...and of course the interior. Don't forget it's not a Cafe anymore but a Bar The Times They're A-Changin' Arcade games (RalphS' design) And a billiard game For Al's Italian Food I've updated the back stairs... ...leading to a new backyard... and to the new yellow warehouse And also first floor's interior Comments are allways welcome! Klaus-Dieter Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 These are all great MOCs, BlueBard! I really them! The most I like the interior of the bar and second floor with the bandit's office - very detailed and realistic! Very well done! Klaus-Dieter Quote

Allways a pleasure to hear read it from a such Lego City lover as you Quote
keetong Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 The detail on the post office is great, all the slopes giving it depth. The inside out backdoor give it that edge of realness. The LD MOC looks great using a concept which you have enhanced and created a better scene. AL's is looking great, the arcade games and billiard table are great details in it. I can't wait to see what you make next. I've just noticed you got a MOC expert badge, well done you, deserved it. Quote
Vestabuyer Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Greetings! Nice job with that post office, i know I have been looking for one of the post office sets that lego offered in the 80's but I would jump at the chance to buy one that looked as modern as yours. Nice work! Quote
BlueBard Posted July 16, 2009 Author Posted July 16, 2009 I can't wait to see what you make next. There are two buildings left: a comic store and a flower shop, hope you people will like them I've just noticed you got a MOC expert badge, well done you, deserved it. Thanks Greetings! Nice job with that post office, i know I have been looking for one of the post office sets that lego offered in the 80's but I would jump at the chance to buy one that looked as modern as yours. Nice work! Thank you! There's so many people telling me they like the post office that I'm beginning to think I should have saved it for the display Quote
prateek Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I'm looking forward to the comic store. It's looking good so far BlueBard, keep it up Quote
Perterz Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 That postoffice has so much charm! Really well executed. Great interiors aswell! Looking forward to the new buildings.. Quote

BlueBard Posted August 15, 2009 Author Posted August 15, 2009 (edited) After some time being a bit too busy, I'm back with new updates for my City Display so don't forget to check the forum these weeks Here's the latest version for the trees on the street. I tried to keep it simple but a bit detailed, what do you think? (sorry for the blurry pic... ) Edited August 15, 2009 by BlueBard Quote
Rick Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 (edited) Nice, simple, but detailed enough. I really need to get some bricks for brick-built trees. How many leaves go into one of your trees? Edited August 15, 2009 by Rick Quote
BlueBard Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 Nice, simple, but detailed enough. I really need to get some bricks for brick-built trees. How many leaves go into one of your trees? Thanks There's 4 big and 10 little leaves. The big ones are separated by 2x2 green round plates and the small ones are just put around to create the "round" tree form Quote
aawsum Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 nice tree, the setup also gives some possibilities to make a bigger or even a smaller tree. The idea is a good basis, trees are all different, and with your basis that is possible Quote
samthelegoman1 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Where does that TV piece come from? Quote
Etzel Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Where does that TV piece come from? From the new camper set, 7639 (it's a sticker btw) Quote
BlueBard Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 nice tree, the setup also gives some possibilities to make a bigger or even a smaller tree. The idea is a good basis, trees are all different, and with your basis that is possible Yep, you just have to put on or off as leaves as you want. I took the main idea from Hispabrick magazine Quote
BlueBard Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 The actual global economic situation (so my personal one too ) doesn't lend me to spent 150€ in the magnificent CafeCorner I needed for achieving my never-ending City Display , so I've finally decided to design some kind of little and "thin" green cafe corner to fill the corner gap of my block of buildings. A little purchase from BL and it will be done Here are de LDD designs, hope you like it! Quote
