Peppermint_M Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) Hello. I was just wondering about people's signatures (not the sigfigs) why they chose them and where they came from. Banners often tell a tale but do you have anything else to add? My signature came from an Electric Light Orchestra LP's Backtracked(backmasked) content. I thought it sounded cool and summed up a little crumb of my personality. So how about you? Where did that snappy quote, picture or link come from and why did you put it there? Clone OPatra Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 (If this is a silly unwanted topic, feel free to remove it. It's just a topic that comes up on most forums I have been a member of and I thought it would be interesting to find out the history behind the more enigmatic signatures) I don't think you needed to include this, this topic is certainly on-topic and directly about how members interact with other members (in a way). My sig is pretty self explanatory, it's just my reviews. But deeper than that, I want people to take a look at reviews of sets that they might be interested in, or see a new opinion about a set. Also, I hope my reviews can go as an example of how great the Reviewers' Academy, and encourage more members to join the ever-enlarging army of reviewers. With new members posting reviews, or members that had not done so before now reviewing, it seems to be working (whether I'm directly affecting it or not)! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) That's cool, I have never got the hang of linking in signatures (even if I could I have nothing of interest to add to it) I'll remove the note at the bottom momentarily... Done. I sometimes put such notes in place as some places lcokdown such topics. Seems there is no need here Edited June 12, 2009 by Peppermint_M Quote
WhiteFang Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Peppermint_M, I have adjusted the title slightly, not letting our community getting confused between both similar terms. I couldn't want them to think of it as sig fig though. Quote
ProducePrincess Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) My signature is just a bunch of silly pictures that i took a few days ago. The second one is my sig-fig in my carrots that i planted in my garden. The fourth picture was very fun to take.first i had to hunt around my yard trying to find a few silly slugs, the hot weather made this very difficult because the slugs will want to go deeper underground to stay where it's cool and moist. Then i had to carry the in my hand to the spot i chose to take the picture , while doing this i couldn't stop laughing because they kept crawling over my hand and it really tickled .Slugs are pretty good for taking pictures of though. The first is just a dwarf digging in the dirt and the third is a picture of the wolfpack doing what the do best . so that explains my signature pictures. The writing is just some silly thing that i put underneath , theres no reason for it to be there really. I think this is a pretty good topic. Edited June 12, 2009 by Black Rabbit Quote
Ricecracker Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 My signature includes four parts. 1) Pictures and names of characters that I am currently playing in mystery/mafia games. 2) Links to my various websites. Specifically, my Brickshelf and flickr accounts, and my Bricklink store. 3) A quick line for new members, pretty self-explanatory. 4) A while back, most people had quotes in their sigs, which I thought was a neat idea. So, I searched for a few days trying to find ones that I felt were meaningful, and these are the three that I found. Quote

simonjedi Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Chaos marine pic for my love of 40k, my review of the V-19 torrent starfighter. It had star wars comic game information, but I removed it after it ended. Quote
Svelte Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Mine changes according to what MOC or competition entry I've recently made, with a link. This is usually a hint: vote for me, people! For the most part, I like to keep it visually unified with my avatar in some way (although since I'm currently in the Emerald Express mystery it is at the moment Schmelt!) Quote
Saint Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 My signature cam e from a funny "look at the bricks and tell me what set, theme and year it is " contest :) I was so fast that I was bestowed this title :D Quote
user Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 My title used to have a link to a video called Do you like waffles? and a link to my flickr. Plus a picture of a scene from Toxic 2 by nitrome with my name on it it but Snake shot the links off my sig and vandilized my sig! Darn space criminals! Great topic Idea! Quote
Millacol88 Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Kind of like Svelte_Corps, mine is just an advertisement for my invasion contest entry. Plug, plug, plug! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted June 13, 2009 Author Posted June 13, 2009 Thanks WhiteFang, I wasn't 100% sure on what to call the topic. Its interesting to find out about people's sigs. I'm looking for a new set of lyrics to put in my signature at the moment (trying to narrow it down between a few tracks). Quote
AwesomeStar Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Mine is similar to ImperialShadows', using his a template I have my name, and then a few words from something that has happened to me here on EB. Then I have a link to my WIP, and a small section showing what MOCs I'm building, and a key underneath that. Then I have (same as IS) pictures of my avatar, mafia avatars and Houndblowers drawing of me Quote
Natman8000 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I have my lovely Third armada tank, and my Tusken Milk truck. They are some of my best mocs on eurobricks. And some witty remarks too. Quote
L-space Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 (edited) My signature is parted in three first "The Turtle moves..." From the Discworld novels; it's about the fight between beliefs about what the great A'tuin is up to and/or what the shape of the world is. Flat offcourse! second My banner advertising for the my Invasion contest entry, it is a linky too In time it will be replaced, after the results of the contest\, for a new banner probably about Discworld as well. Specially designed as a reaction to the multiple pirate banners around third Pic-links to my website, Brickshelf, MOCpages and Brickset Edited June 23, 2009 by L-space Quote
Peppermint_M Posted June 14, 2009 Author Posted June 14, 2009 Your quote is about one of the only ones whos source I knew. Quote
Hound Knight Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Mine is an advertisement for C-P, as well as patriotic! Quote
Oky Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Interesting topic! My current sig can be explained like this: The first thing is a quote from the hilarious movie "Clerks 2" and is a link to the scene from which it's from. It's one of my favorite quotes and reflects my opinion on Lord of the Rings. Next, there are two banners for JimButcher's Star Wars Comic Game (which I had the honor of being the co-leader of). The first one is a link to the general SWCG discussion thread while the other is a link to the now-closed Season 2 thread. However, it appears that Squidman has vandalized that second banner and is now fleeing from the crime scene! Now that the SWCG has ended and my banner is ruined, perhaps I'll replace it with a new one that advertises some of my MOCs. I will also have to call Space Police to have Squidman arrested. Does anyone have their phone number? Below the banners, there is an ad for Jammiedodger714's upcoming brickfilm of the last chapter of Season 1 of the Star Wars Comic Game (which I helped to produce). It's a link to the teaser trailer! After that, I have a link to my post in the "What's in a name?" thread where I explain my username, just in case anyone is wondering about the "Oky" part. At the bottom, there are some links to other websites where you can see all of my sets and MOCs. Quote
zero1312 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I just wanted to display my whole Sigfig in it with a simple look and line I made up für the fig. Quote
L-space Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Your quote is about one of the only ones whos source I knew. Thanks. I updated my signature with links to the background story posts for the Invasion Contest. Quote
Stauder Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Well, the image is a advert of EB News, if you click on it it takes you to our Index, and the text under is a disclaimer. Read it well, and remember! I have my spork in hand. Stauder. Quote
Brickmaster Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 George Carlin has some great quotes and ideologies. I found the quote mildly entertaining and has great satirical value without being too rash, so I made it signature material. Quote
VBBN Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Uhm Well, the normal text and such, but my Sig image is just simply one of the downright coolest things I have ever made. Plus it is very creepy-Suits me just fine! And Pumpkin Powah fits right alongside it. Don't forget the text in the orange, brown, and black theme to match the image. :] Quote
Paradosis Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 (edited) From the moment I first read it, I've always liked the quote that I have in my signature. Some might say that it's too pessimistic, but I think that there's a lot of truth to what Stephen was saying. It's may be a bit serious for a forum like this (which focuses on something meant to be a lot of fun)... but then again there's nothing wrong with a little seriousness every once in a while.
