This is what comes to my mind :sweet:post-6412-1245136765.jpg

Welcome to Eurobricks Trancedout! I can also see a lot of similarities with the Disneyland fire station.

This is off topic, but there is another building on Main Street in Disneyland that resembles a Lego set we all like:

I think the recent debate of the fire station failing to supercede the expectations of many beyond the likes of CC and GG is simply due to the fact that when CC was first released, it was a totally new perspective on Lego's potential to create modular buildings unlike the classic set-ups, and not many AFOLs were into this. Not surprisingly, many new fan creations started appearing on the pages of many a Lego-philic sites, and the appearance of MS and GG simply fan on the flame of pushing new boundaries on building techniques, colour schemata and layout styles. In short, we were always surpassing our expectations for Lego's new arrivals, and it wasn't a surprise that this fire station had a mixed reaction to its built, simply because most AFOLS has been there and done that.

My two cents really. Will I buy it? Maybe. Or I'll get another CC or GG. That's how I see it.

As a super fan of the modular building series, I have been waiting for this new release for ages. Thanks for the news and the pics  !

I am kinda disappointed by the reduced level of details and how blank it looks though. The set lacks the "wow" factor as the techniques applied are not as fresh and original as they were in CC and GG, I really love the water tower, the bell, the "1932", but I have already seen them before in MOCs by others (and the bell is recycled from Jamie's Town Hall). The first/ second floor interior is quite a letdown as it looks really amateur when compared to GG's, everything looks so "MOCish" that I think I can build better. I admit that we can't really expect every set to come with tons of new techniques though.

From the way it looks, I believe we can add additional middle floor(s) as in CC and GG, I wonder how that will reduce the complaints with the proportion of the building.

Kinjai, I can't agree more with you, but I will definitely grab a few copies of this baby  .

I really hate the way MOC is being thrown around as a derogetory in this thread. Everytime says something looks "MOCish" it openly implies mediocrity. Alot of the techniques/details that we have come to expect from LEGO were as a direct result of the many very talented MOCers in the community, yet any time the term is used to describe something from LEGO it is essentially an insult. Wasn't it the larger scale and elaborate detailing of AFOL creations that lead to the whole CC in the first place? Why has MOCing suddenly become an insult?

For all intents and purposes, this set is no more MOCish than any of the other CC sets.

Nice to see that the dark red goes all the way around the back of the top floor, and there are more windows back there, too! I’ll definitely be getting this one. I agree that it doesn’t quite live up to the standard set by CC and GG, but that’s a pretty high standard to meet. It’s still a nice building chock full of useful parts and colors, with a great parts/price ratio. I understand that it’s everyone’s prerogative to like or dislike the design of the set, and share their opinions, but the forcefulness of some of the complaints seems unnecessary. You’re all free to modify the set however you like – it’s LEGO! Or you can opt to not buy it at all. Personally, all these sets are just parts packs for me anyways, and wonderful ones at that!

I am sorry if I offended you, but I did not intend to use the term "MOCish" as an insult as I myself is an MOCer, if you are interested, you may check my latest MOC here:

I appreciate the great MOCs and the special building techniques created by the AFOL community and like I said, I really love the water tower, the bell, the "1932", which appeared in MOCs by others before. I think that the set is good, but it lacks something to make it jump out from the other MOCs/ CC style sets.

mmmm, I'm a little undecided, we already have like loads of firestations :-( in our towns,

I was kind of hoping for a post office or bank, but hey, roll on the police station!

Well, there´s no Fire Station in my layout so far...

I've never bought any Lego fire stastion and this one will be my first one. Why? Because it does look like the ones I see everyday (I live in Canada... so it does look North-American to me, really, and I lived in France for 30 years and it doesn't look French at all in my opinion); in other words, it is a kind of model and not a plastic colourful toy!

Actually, before seeing these pictures I didn't believe the first rumours that talked about a fire station; I didn't figure out how a fire station could fit between the CC and the GG, then I didn't imagine how it could match. Now I've been convinced by this amazing but simple design, so I want it to be mine!

Building techniques are not new, OK, but I don't think a good Lego set must necessarily offers a lot of great techniques. Of course it is better if there are some, but I wouldn't expect SNOT on the entire building! Maybe in 15 years Lego sets will be as inventive as today's MOCs...

I don't really like the 1930's truck because it doesn't match my other city sets that represent today's vehicles, but it remains original so that I accept it. BTW the fridge and the ping-pong table are just... well, unfinished! I didn't catch what they were before paying attention on them!

Excellent set! It is very beautiful and the details are great! Although that it doesn't look like a modern fire station, I love to have some old, well preserved public buildings in my town. The good thing is that it's the first "Cafe Corner-modular style" building we get that it is also highly playable, involving much more action.

Superb combination! :sweet:

Btw, when I first saw Teddy's Fire Station some months ago, I really hoped that TLG would release something similar. My wish came true.

Oh, and don't you think that Captain Green Hair's firetruck is perfect for this fire station?

After I put this in my City, the lads at my main station are going to be most displeased. All they have is one bed, an office and a watchroom for seven firies! This new station houses four and has a full kitchen and rec area, as well as lovely looking engine bay and toolshop. My F.D. will have to hit up the local council for more capital expenditure to keep the main station's employees happy, not to mention the UFU (United Firefighter's Union)!

Quite seriously, this looks like an awesome set and can't wait to establish this in my Downtown area. I love that this has been fully fitted-out inside, we finally have furniture!! Well done Lego!!! :pir-wub::thumbup:

That's what I thought too! CGH's was kind of a spoiler for this set, since it's so much superior to the 10197 version

Thanks for the compliment zorbas. :classic:

Yes CGH his fire engine is great. Much superior to the official one.

I think most fire engine MOCs on this website are superior to anything Lego has ever made.

Like this fire engine by BrickBox  : Link to EBtopic on fire engine by BrickBox

Although set 7239 was great too. Linky to Brickset page of 7239

I 100% completely agree.

Thanks for the compliment zorbas. :classic:

"It is New York style"

"No, it's Amsterdam style"

Teddy: " Why not New Amsterdam style?"

One of the most diplomatic answers ever!

CopMike

The wheels on the firetruck from 10197 on this picture from Brickworld (even better picture here) don't match the ones on the pictures released by Lego and seem totally out of proportion. What's up with that?
