The Executive Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I still got my fingers crossed for a new droid gunship or an at-ap in the near future. Quote
Vader Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I think that TLC might be a bit leanient on this new weaponery like they were with the Batman line. As Star Wars is space fantasy and all. We all know that Laser guns aren't real, so I think that may be Lego's excuse. i think lego is just getting rid of it's pseudo politics and just focus on getting what the customers want. seriously...if you think a tommy machine gun is not real you've gotta be living in a shell somewhere in tuvalu. you may make an excuse for star wars but batman sets are violent. period. So are Castle sets, Wild West sets, Pirates sets, etc. Almost all themes had weapons, so why are people whining about Batman's weapons? I cant speak for others but i wasnt complaining, i was just saying that legos reasons for no SW weapons to this point didnt hold up when compaired to the other weapons that they have made over the years, i just used the batman ones as an example. morris Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 i have heard that the new version of the SBD are chromed in silver charming, yet make the original version even more expnsive Quote
captaintau Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Okkaaaayy! IF that's true, that very good to know. Can I please enquire about your source? Quote
Starwars4J Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 But it's only a possibility...SAM is always accurate, but he made no promises about that ;-) And from the looks of it, they're not metallic silver, but they COULD be changed to that I personally hope they don't. It wouldn't look right, and the chrome would just chip off... Quote
Section8 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 The originals being only in one now hard-to-get set, I don't think the color change itself will be a big issue. Whether the chroming stands up well to use and the test of time is the big question. I have some chrome parts from around 1996 still in perfect shape, but we all know lego's methods and quality have changed. I wonder if they will be like the new IG-88, which had done well in my experience, but I haven't used it very much. Quote
ApophisV Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Over the last four or five years we have definitively noticed a slow but constant change away from their "no violence" agenda. They started introducing shooting mechanisms (SW,Bionicle) and continued developing them (Dino Attack, Vikings). The Dino sets suddenly were featuring futuristic looking big weapons, some were even close to existant ones (miniguns). They continued to carry these weapons into the Exo Force line where they became bigger and bigger. Finally realistic shaped 20th century guns in the Batman line. Now tell me: Why can't they produce Laser guns for SW sets when they didn't give their Batman characters standard western colts? IMO a Batman gangster with a western gun looks much more realistic than a SW trooper with a megaphon... *wacko* I think this developement will lead to many new weapons in the future and probably to more violence within their sets. ApophisV Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 3 SUPER BATTLE driods ( but the color may be change to metallic silver) THis is probably the dull silver tone, not the real chrome... :-( Quote
Vader Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Your probably right Apo, but hey they should still be good :-) Quote

TLG has weird policies.... *alien* Quote

If Lego produces a military theme, they won't be able to say that they are against violence. Now, they can still say that and use playability as an excuse for the modern weapons. (Did that make any sense :-P ) Quote

In this line their is not a single vehicle, fig or anything else that has NOT the purpose to attack, defend or just fight. Therefore it IS a military theme, futuristic but nonetheless military. Quote

But Exo-Force's main point in the storyline is to defend Mankind from evil robots, so the violence has a reason(from a certain point of view), but a real military theme for me would be one where there is no reason for all the slaughter. That's what I meant by saying that Lego wouldn't be able to say the weapons are for show only when they created such a theme. Quote
MattZitron Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 They're BATTLE Droids; they they shouldn't be too shiny. In fact the more dulled the metal the better. It'll look like they're battle hardened. Quote
sam89 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Well if this is true, they should be the more "dull" kind of chrome that LEGO have been releasing recently (that I actually think looks better than the old chrome). I might have to get a Battle Droid Pack just to get the Super Battle Droids. Quote
oo7 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I would like flat silver SBDs, I think it's closer to the movies then chrome. Quote
Khorne Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I would like flat silver SBDs, I think it's closer to the movies then chrome. The closest to the movies would be the ones released by Lego with the Republic Gunship. Quote

No, I think they are a bit too bluish (from the pictures I have saw), It would be good as a pearl dark bluish grey but not pearl blue. Quote

Andrex Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I love these new sets, and the battle packs have a lot of potential. Droids, you know, I'd seriously love more battle packs to be released. Droidekas, Magnaguards, Dwarf Spider Droids and so forth, there is still a lot to cover. Never mind though, what we have so far is brilliant! I'm hoping for a Rebel pack in the future! I had always wanted Battlefront style sets so here we have it! As for new guns, that's a relief, they seriously weren't accurate to be honest and new designs could bring originality and unique charm to the figures. Quote
mutley777 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 i seem to be one of the few here, as i am not to bothered about new guns. i have always been of the opinion, if you want movie accurate figures, wepons and vehicles the you should not be buying lego. lego has always put a fun in front of movie accuracy. however i do look forward to seeing the new guns but i don't think they will be cheep on bricklink and ebay as others have said. they are more likley to sell for over a $ each! ApophisV Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 i seem to be one of the few here, as i am not to bothered about new guns. Im am not either, I am just annoyed by TLC acting weird the whole time. On the one hand they have their "strict" no-violence policy, but then they give us weapons all over the palce with ridicolous excuses like "it has a storyline", "the weapons belong to the theme" or "these are only for defense"... Dear TLC people: Please, PLEASE think about the weapon usage and if you are clear if and which weapons are okay for you please KEEP UP YOUR GUIDELINE! :-| PS: I am looking forward to blasters and more droids! ;-) Quote
